THE 2014 DUTCH #ROOKIEBLUE FAN PAGE INTERVIEW WITH MATT GORDON “Talking About The Rookie Blue Family, The Talented Tassie Cameron, Playing “Ollie”, His Chemistry with Ben and More…” Copyright: Matt Gordon (@MattyBGordon) and The Dutch Rookie Blue fan page (@RookieBlueNed) by Murielle Wouters (@MurielleWouters) 1) Let’s start with an easy question. Can you tell us a little bit more about your background? Where do you come from and, I hope you don’t mind me asking, what are your passions in life besides acting and what do you love to do in your downtime? I grew up in small town Ontario, Canada. I had a great time being a kid, and I must have really liked make believe, because I can't stop playing. I came to acting a little late, around 27. I love music. Seeing music. Pretending to be a musician, in my dreams, the rockstar type :) I read as much as I can, tho I am an infamous book abandoner. I often start a read, find something just as interesting and leave the first, or second one behind. Whenever I go back I always have to backtrack a couple chapters to remember what’s the what with the story. I love NHL playoff hockey, which I guess makes me a fairweather fan. I Play, infrequently, unless PlayStation counts. Travelling is the best! Seeing new places, meeting new people. Eating strange new food!! Home or Away :) 2) You are very popular among the numerous #RookieBlue fans around the world! They love you, think you are very talented and really care about Oliver (Shaw). What’s the reason for that you think? Thanks to ALL our Rookie Blue fans out there!! I have to admit, I'm a huge fan too. I have an absolutely amazing time making our show, and just as good a time sitting with my workmates and watching with all of you. It makes a huge difference to be part of something that so many people relate to and enjoy being part of. That’s us actors, all of our crew and you guys who watch and support us. Being able to twitter, in real time makes our division 15 family so connected. Tweet!! On Twitter, one tweets. Techno lingo is not my strong suit. In fact many of you guys helped me navigate my first few weeks on twitter etc, thanks again! Our fans are the only reason we have a Rookie Blue!! To anyone who loves that Oliver Shaw...Thanks, Hugs and know that I love him too. A huge part of why we love Ollie is because our writers make it so. They are Oliver’s real parents and have raised him to be the man he is. The heart he has and the love he has for those Rookies is a reflection of our writers room’s attention to the little looks and quips, hugs and playful punches that make our cop family work so well. My castmates put Oliver into action and make him real. I am nothing without those people. 3) Tassie Cameron mentioned in an interview that she wrote the part of Oliver especially for you. Did you know this when you were auditioning? How did it make you feel? Tassie did indeed imagine and create Oliver for me. You asked how that feels?, how that felt? That makes me feel like the luckiest guy you know :) And yes, I did know that, and it really is an amazing thing for me. I love Tassie and think she is simply a massive talent, the rockstar I pretend to be, only she’s real and uses a keyboard. 4) In #RookieBlue S3 we finally got to know a little more about Oliver’s background and you blew all #RookieBlue fans away with your amazing performance in one of my favourite episode’s that season “Coming Home”…AND S4, I think, was life changing for Oliver in many ways. In what way do you think those things happening to Oliver will affect him in S5? Season 4's "Coming Home" was a great episode to do, and I’m really glad and thankful that so many people liked it. It was a wonderful, and scary show to shoot for me. I think when Oliver's life at home collides with life at work, it's a hard thing to work around for him. keeping people safe is job number one, and when you can't even protect those closest to you, the world changes. Not only wanting your kids to be safe, but watching them go from babes to blue haired rebels, is a strange thing indeed. The idea that everything can change in an instant rocked Oliver in that show and I think that's stuck with him into season 5. Season four was full of changes for Oliver, including the break up of his marriage. Celery, ahhh Celery. Amazing changes. 5) You and Ben (Bass) have a lot of scenes and the two of you seem to have a special connection… an “instant” chemistry that makes the #RookieBlue fans LOVE all Sam and Oliver scenes. How do you guys manage to do that? Sam and Oliver have been mates since the academy, and they are like brothers. That's our writers, thanks again, and a little magic. Ben is wicked and I have a blast every time we find ourselves working together! We have known each other for 10 or 11 years too. We used to do a show together called the 11th hour. a show put together and written by some of the same folks who bring us RB! Thanks again for taking the time to answer these questions and lots of love from the Dutch #RookieBlue fans and the fans around the World. We continue to follow you on Twitter @MattyBGordon. |
