I thought this was something worthy of a thread. Luckily, so far the news has all been good. Here's the latest I heard on Twitter from the guy who runs the RB Facebook page:

Quote:

chuck197038 ABC is Up Year to Year in Adults 18-49 for the 13th Consecutive Week: http://bit.ly/a5oizB #rookiebluetv

ETA: the money quote as far as RB:
Quote:

ABC ranks No. 1 with young adults this summer on Monday, Thursday and Sunday nights.

Rankings: ABC aired 4 of the Top 20 primetime TV shows for the week in Adults 18-49: “Wipeout-TUES” – No. 7, “Bachelor Pad” – No. 16, while “Wipeout-THURS” and “Dating in the Dark” – tied at No. 20. “Wipeout-TUES” also finished among the most-watched television series overall for the week (No. 7).

Thursday

The biggest gainer among the networks on Thursday night this summer, ABC’s numbers shot up over the same night last summer (8/13/09) in Total Viewers (+25% – 5.5 million vs. 4.4 million) and Adults 18-49 (+36% – 1.5/5 vs. 1.1/4). The Net marked its 10th straight Thursday of year-to-year primetime gains.

“Rookie Blue” (9:00-10:00 p.m.)

Opposite the second hour of Fox’s 2-hour season finale of “So You Think You Can Dance,” ABC’s “Rookie Blue” ranked No. 2 among the major nets with young adults: AD18-49 (1.6/5) and AD18-34 (1.1/4).

* “Rookie Blue” delivered impressive year-to-year growth for ABC in the hour, improving the Net’s results over the same night last year by 2.8 million viewers (6.0 million vs. 3.2 million) and by 78% in Adults 18-49 (1.6/5 vs. 0.9/3).

Can't believe those God awful dating reality shows get such big ratings. Seriously, what is wrong with people??

That is so awesome! It just keeps going up in every way for every episode, not that I'm complaining, but when will it stop!?

Doesn't have to do with ratings, but about Rookie Blue's iTunes availability... You lucky Canadians already can get episodes on iTunes, but I've been trying to figure out if they'll be available on the US iTunes.

Yesterday was my birthday, so I tweeted Tassie to ask her about it and she responded!

Me:@rookiebluetv @tassiecameron Today's my birthday, and what I'd really love is for Rookie Blue to be on US iTunes! Any luck? #rookiebluetv

Tassie: While I wish I had The Power to put #rookiebluetv on US iTunes, I don't. But I do have The Power to wish you happy birthday!

So, bummer that she doesn't have any input on that, but maybe she'll say something to one of the producers/ABC peeps...

I'm Facebook phobic, but for those of you who aren't:

chuck197038 Getting close to 45,000 fans! If you haven't already,"like" the #rookiebluetv FB page. http://www.facebook.com/RookieBlue

PS. Happy belated B-day and thanks so much for asking about iTunes! I really wonder who owns/controls rights in the U.S. ABC? They have most of their other shows on iTunes and Steve Jobs is on Disney's board, so I don't get why this is such a problem.

Info about this week's instant metered ratings:

TVBytheNumbers
Quote:

Led by an NFL exhibition game between the Falcons and the Patriots, FOX won the night with adults 18-49. CBS had the most viewers and its Big Brother telecast between 8pm-9pm was the night’s top program both with adults 18-49 and total viewers.

ABC’s Rookie Blue was steady, and up a little bit with adults 18-49 to a 1.7 rating to go along with its 6.43 million viewers.

ETA:
RBR.com
Quote:

"Rookie Blue" (9:00-10:00 p.m.)
Outdrawing Fox's pre-season NFL Game (New England-Atlanta), ABC's "Rookie Blue" (6.4 million) stood as the most-watched TV show in its time period for the 3rd time in 4 weeks.

Despite facing NFL competition, "Rookie Blue" was up week to week in both Total Viewers (+7% - 6.4 million vs. 6.0 million) and Adults 18-49 (+6% - 1.7/5 vs. 1.6/5). In addition, the new ABC drama tied its 2nd highest-ever Adult 18-34 number.

"Rookie Blue" continued to generate impressive year-to-year growth for ABC in the hour, doubling Net's numbers over the year-ago night in viewers (+100% - 6.4 million vs. 3.2 million) and young adults (+113% - 1.7/5 vs. 0.8/3).

that's so great!

I just wish that we'd get more than 13 epis (at least for the 2nd season) because of the good ratings...because honestly 13 epis just aren't enough!!! :-)

Rookie Blue is doing better than anyone expected, They're definitely doing at least a 20 episode arc I can say with complete confidence. 13 Episodes was the deal because the network had no idea if the audience would like it or not and they were plannign on airing it a full year later.

For season 2, It just depends on when they start airing the episodes. They could start in January when the Midseason break for shows end and they can end airing in May or June and they'll be able to start in September like Normal shows because its odd for a show to continuously air seasons in the summer..

They may do the Summer-thing again this season but there are problems with that as well. One great thing for that though, is that they can begin when all big show seasons end(May) and end basically around the time that they start(September)

I wonder what they'll choose to do..They're about to start taping episodes in just a few weeks. I would think the network already locked in a 20-episode-arc deal for S2.

If By Split the season you mean: 10 Episodes air consecutively -Midseason Finale-Then Final 10 Episodes 2-3 months later? Then yeah, I think every show does that.

no, not like every show, because Rookie Blue is a summer show, so I guess they won't change that, I mean like Leverage S2, where they aired it from July till August and then showed the rest of the epis from January till February and then they started airing season 3 in June...so there wasn't a whole year in between the seasons, to cut it short *lol* I hope we'll get some new Rookie Blue epis in January and that we'll not have to wait till next June for S2.

*hehe* I know...I guess it's a Leverage thing  but IMHO it's quite fangirl friendly :-)

I am also very curious, when they'll start airing the 2nd season! Just 4 more epis to go :-(

It really has been a while since I loved a show that much!

AWESOME article about Tassie Cameron and Rookie Blue in The Orangeville Citizen newspaper!
Writer delves into the dark side of police work for realism

Love this part:
Quote:

In all of Ms. Cameron’s police storytelling, there are profoundly dysfunctional relationships...Yet, she uses those stories to create a series that is quickly proving to be a public favourite. They are the off-duty stories of her rookies and their partners.

Their stories begin before they begin to be jaded. The rookies still have that optimism they can make a difference, coming from a time before cynicism sets in.

Ms. Cameron defined it: “At 25, the world’s a scary, sexy, amazing place.”

Now into the final writing and starting production of the second series, Ms. Cameron commented, “It’s very easy to write tough, gritty stories and I’m quite proud I didn’t go that route.

“These are honest stories, filtered through 25- year-old glasses. We’ve used that perspective to access a different tone. The casting is great – the actors are happy and we’re happy. That’s a rare and joyous experience when the actors make what you wrote sound even better.”

Thanks so much for sharing that, I love reading what the creators of the show have to say about the process that goes into a show like this. And I'd love to get my hands on 'The Eleventh Hour' someday, maybe I should write a letter to CTV telling them to re-air it.

Re: ratings. I'm so pleased to see that they continue to be strong. :)

Yeah, I'm bummed that no one's been able to find that anywhere. I'm really curious about it.

When you're searching for it online, it makes matters even more confusing because there's also an American TV series called 'Eleventh Hour'.

Guys, the writers have ALL said that they are making 13 episodes in season two. I even asked because I thought ABC/Canada would increase the order. But they are keeping it at 13 episodes probably to have it only over the summer.

I WISH we would get a 22 episodes order or at least like a 16 episode order. But I don't think that will happen with the writers already now writing the new episodes and arranging the whole season with the knowledge that they will have 13 episodes.
