LOL, if it makes you feel better, I found it on Time Warner Cable by running my saved search for Ben Bass. So they credited him on their guide.

That's really funny! Also, I just watched the first one - if anyone has a program that can freeze frames, there is one scene where Ben's tattoo is visible for almost the whole scene - I just couldn't read what it said on my computer. Maybe someone can figure out what it says!

Well, I think Tassie wrote Sam with Ben in mind after Would Be Kings. Supposedly he had to read for it, but I think she had him in mind all along. No confirmation on that, just a feeling.
hm, I read somewhere that Tassie wrote Sam and Ollie for Ben and Matt...and I know I read this just yesterday, but I can't remember where. *sighs*
Tassie talked about it on Twitter the other day:
@JanEWallace28 We definitely wrote Oliver for @MattyBGordon...and had Ben in mind for Swarek-otherwise, all casting was a joyful surprise.
aaah that's exactly the quote I was talking about :D so it was on twitter where I read it.

thanks so much for posting this here!

Thanks to you, I discovered Would be Kings and I had a crush on Ben Bass on this movie. I saw the 3 hours version.

Ben was so sexy, so easy on eyes... He playes so well !

The movie is really intense, the confrontation between the two first cousins is really awesome ! And the end is totally unexpected ! :omg: :omg:

I'm happy to meet again some actors of Rookie Blue like the one who plays Beljac and of course, Matt Gordon.

I love the way Jamie changes when he works in IA and with her new partner, Jules. The scene between them after Patrick kicked Jamie is so lovely. When Jules comes to talk with him... so sweet !

By the way... could you help me, please ? I understand well english, but I see the movie in english without subtitles and sometimes, when they don't articulate well, I don't understand all... :halo:

Could you, please, tell me what Jules and Jamie say in his home, when he takes her hands in his until the phone call ?

And the other scene is the last, when Jamie comes to see Jules and gives her a coffee. Like he doesn't talk anymore, she says goodbye and he offers to take her for a ride... after, I don't understand what Jules says because she giggles when she speaks... could you help me, please ?

Thank you so much if you can !

I had seen this movie 3 times and I'm sure it's not the last... ^^

Sam: Alright, I don't want anything to happen to you.

Sam: It's not just your dad I'm looking out for. If Tommy becomes a suspect, no matter how good you are, how straight, it's gonna stick to you. You don't deserve that.

Sam: Why would I? You took me down. And I'm awesome. Which of course means you're awesome.

Sam: Callaghan's not the only one whose got your back.

It's been a while since I watched it, so this won't be exact, but the dialog in those scenes was something like....

When he grabs her hands:
Jules: You know what, I can't do this right now

Jaime: I'm not asking you to.

Jules: Yeah, you kind of are.

Jaime: Yeah, I kind of am.

Jaime: Is it because I'm a cop?

Jules: NO

Jaime: Because I'm an asshole?

Jules: You're not an asshole.

Jaime: It's not what's there, it's what's not there? It's kind of hard to change a "not there."

Jules: I'm not asking you to change. That's not to say that you can't.

Scene at the end:
Jaime: I figured it would take 45 minutes to convince you to give this another whirl.

JUles: *Laughs* You're gonna need a lot longer than that.

Jaime: Well, it's a start.

He sure is!!! It's also fun to see the other RB cast members and guest stars. And it's key to see the much better extended version. I'm so grateful to have this board where enterprising fans track these things down.

In the end the money (in the dollhouse) ended up being symbolic. Patrick never did anything with it and Patrick's wife didn't know that it was there.

When she and Jamie were talking at the end she said something to the effect of "he was a good cop he tried to make a difference why don't they write that in their papers?"

Then they show the dollhouse (presumably with the money still inside) in the back of the goodwill truck. Kind of showing that even though he had made some awful decisions near the end he wasn't all bad.

@ McSwarekFan_Brittany, Great scene analysis! And I'm loving your banner!!

Yeah I think the dollhouse shot at the end is used to emphasize Patrick as a cop who struggled to be a good provider...but who ultimately made some nasty decisions in the name of family.

Yay! More Ben Bass fans are watching this movie :D
I see it more cynically. I see the dollhouse as a critical commentary on superficial dreams of the "perfect house/perfect life" that are inculcated in us as children with something as innocuous as dollhouses. Patrick lost his compass both because of his own ego and ambition and because of all the pressure his wife put on him to have all the trappings of upper middle class life. Writing it off as "being a good family man" is an easy moral rationalization for something that's more complicated than that.

It was probably a combination of all of that. Showing that he made bad choices, he lost his footing, he rationalized it all, and that he wasn't always that way.

This mini-series though is amazing. Even though it will probably never happen and Rookie Blue has been kind of a Would Be Kings reunion (seriously so many people who were involved in it have been on RB), I'd love for them to do a sequel to Would Be Kings.

@Miss Marple Thanks :)

Finished watching the long version now, it was really good. I love how dark it was and the twists in it.
I really loved the character development of Jaime, he starts at the lowest point, no one expects much of him and even as a viewer I had a feeling that nothing good will come out of it. On the other side, his causin starts at a really high point, he has a family, he is on the right way in his career.. Then comes all these decisions.
in the end Patrick is the one in the lowest place and Jaime is climbing up.

Am i the only one that thought that Jaime's causin daughter had a crush on him?

Yeah I agree with you that the niece had a bit of a crush on him. But I think it was because she feels she has a special relationship with Jaime. Unlike her father who is burdened by responsibility & eventually greed, her uncle acts rebellious and doesn't care about anything. The niece is like one of the few people Jaime genuinely cares about. And so I think she feels honored for his sense of regard for her and kinda hero worships him.
I saw it that way too. But I also always wondered if there wasn't a chance she was actually his daughter. I don't think it's beyond the possibility that Jaime and her mom had hooked up back in high school when the two guys were apparently rivals fighting over her. Once she decided Patrick was the one with better prospects, I could see her keeping a secret like that from everyone.

I always thought the reason he was such a wreck at the beginning was the toll of still being half in lover with her and being a close part of the family as well.

Yes, i can see that too. He really cared for her and she felt it too.
It's "funny" how the screw up of the family was the person she trusted and relied on most when she was in bad situations.

Unfortunately, looks like the owner of the site we've been using to watch the long version of WBK let his domain lapse. I hope it's just a matter of not renewing payment right away, rather than deciding it wasn't worth it to keep it going.

Here's the link, in case the status changes: http://www.moviesflood.com/movie-Would-Be-Kings_17555.html

Hello everyone, I've been reading you for quite a while now, lots of great stuff here! Thanks for that! I envy you, who can watch RB second season first hand on tv... I'm in Hungary and sure it'll take a while till it gets here :(
Anyway, this is a topic for WBK and I just wanted to share the links I found for the long version. It's kind of slow but maybe you have better, faster internet connection and can enjoy watching:
