I think you missed the headline when you chose what to excerpt from this interview.
No, I deliberately chose a different passage. Although attempts Noelle to become a mother is very sweet, I don't think that they will focus so much attention on that compared to the hurricane by name Jo. :D

Do you remember a while ago Melanie was so impressed by the storyline for her character? We thought that it was either a career or romance. I then thought that maybe she would try to have a child with someone of her colleagues, but it will not be a romantic relationship. At least from the beginning.

EXCLUSIVE: Melanie Nicholls-King Speaks on Success, Future of Rookie Blue.
Quote:

What can you tell us about season two?
We've filmed eight episodes so far. There's a new character played by Camille Sullivan who comes in and and makes an impact. Overall, storylines are edgier, grittier. They're really exploring how far they can take these characters, all of whom are are going to a deeper place.
Melanie is absolutely fantabulous and I'm so sorry I didn't get to meet her when I was there.
Yeah, Melanie is THE BEST!! I'm glad to see another media voice interview her. She said she's interested in working over the hiatus this, spring. So I hope whatever media contacts her peeps set up help that along cuz I'd sure like to see her in other projects in addition to her kicking ass on RB!! By the way, I think you missed the headline when you chose what to excerpt from this interview. Here's what grabbed my attention as new news:
Quote:

Noelle will continue to try and have a baby, among other interesting developments that happen along the way.

ETA: LOL, Cythy! Great minds think alike. B)
Melanie made some appearances on One Life To Life as Judge Avery Hansen(most recently around March/April 2010 around the time OLTL moved to All My Children's former studio),so Llanview could use her talents again. Plus,The View is shot next door and she could be a guest there and put those ladies in their place :)

I think that's a good possibility! We met Lyriq on the final day of our set visit, but since he was working,we didn't get the chance to take pics with him. Really nice guy!

CTV orders new one-hour shows.

Quote:

From Ilana Frank, SAVING HOPE, a medical drama about the emotional minefield of a big city hospital

From the acclaimed Gemini award-winning producer Ilana Frank (THE ELEVENTH HOUR, Of Murder and Memory, ROOKIE BLUE) comes the pilot SAVING HOPE, a sexy, fast-paced drama set in a Toronto hospital that follows the lives of its doctors and staff and the complicated and courageous decisions that are made in the struggle to save lives. The second pilot, from the celebrated Gemini award-winning producing team Suzette Couture and Pierre Sarrazin from Sarrazin Couture Entertainment (The Man Who Lost Himself) is a new legal procedural. STAY WITH ME follows an at-home mother turned lawyer, who uses her wit and maternal intuition to find justice for her clients while navigating the shark infested waters of the law and trying to raise two daughters. The pilots begin production in Spring, 2011.

SAVING HOPE centers on young, idealistic neonatal doctor Alyse Joy and her rival and one-time lover, flashy cancer surgeon Joel Gottlieb, as they take on the fundamental questions that define medicine today. Who gets to live, who gets to die, and why? The story goes into uncharted territory when the charismatic, inspiring and golden-tongued Chief of Surgery, Harris Coles, becomes a patient. Comatose, locked-in and unable to communicate that he’s aware of everything around him, Coles is the voice and the eyes that guide viewers through the world of SAVING HOPE. The drama, which is inspired by Ian Brown’s The Globe and Mail “Mount Hope” series based on stories from Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto, is written and created by Morwyn Brebner (ROOKIE BLUE) and Malcolm MacRury (DEADWOOD, CRASH & BURN) and executive produced by Ilana Frank of Thump Inc. (THE ELEVENTH HOUR, Of Murder and Memory, ROOKIE BLUE) and Lesley Harrison in association with CTV.

It's scripted, so I guess more like Grey's. Anyway, that's so cool that Ilana has another show hitting the airwaves!

Interview with Tassie Cameron I don't know if any of you seen it but it's really cool... she talks about "copper" and other Canadian shows

Now I know why they never mention the city they are in. they are scared of losing the American audience...I don't know about others but I won't stop watching a show just because it was shot in different country other than The U.S thats ridiculous.... am also glad that ABC will be involved in almost everything they do, I know thats sucks for the writers but ABC knows what the audience wants so yay

In Flashpoint, they started off not saying where they were but then, either halfway through season 1 or beginning of season 2 they started using Toronto names.

In Rookie Blue, they never said where they were but they used Canadian street names. We'll see what happens in season 2 - they already have a fan base and the fans know it is filmed in Toronto so maybe they will use more Canadian landmarks, etc.

I think it's probably ABC's decision to not mention the city the are in. Having been to Toronto for the first time over 3 weeks ago,I absolutely love the city and I would be thrilled if they started referring to the fact the the show is set there.
The CN Tower has been shown in the title card,so at least some landmarks are seen. Plus, recognizable street names and locations have been used.

It all comes to been able to relate to whatever your watching.Like bonding with a character you want to able to recognize landmarks, places, and think yeah its just like my hometown.I hate to say this but as a Canadian, I still find Americans have a lot of stereotypes of what being Canadian is.We live right next door, speak the same language yet its like we are a totally different entity. To be fair I can understand it a bit a show like Detroit 187 or whatever its called I can't relate to it, its set in Detroit in the trouble 80's, doesn't hold as much appeal for me.

I feel the opposite. I want to watch something set somewhere a little different. Rookie Blue being in Canada is a plus for me. And I LOVE Detroit 187 because it's set in a gritty, struggling Rust Belt city instead of being yet another show in NYC or LA (or even San Francisco, Seattle or Miami)

Thanks for posting that interview w/Tassie its nice to get her insight. What stood out for me was her comment on viewer habits the ADD syndrome we have with tv shows. It something I agree with a lot more choice means that unless the show is something I feel I'm totally committed to meaning I'm invested in the character storyline I have no problem turning it off. I think you can only tease the audience so much before its goodbye, I hope they remember this.I appreciate the fact as well that as a woman she is invested in the romance angle. In a police drama its hard to see the sweet positive moments but that is what sets RB aside that occasional light humor and that hopefully the development of a real romance.
