Adam at TVDoneWright just tweeted a link to an old interview he did with Greg:

Quote:

TVDoneWright Speaking of #RookieBlueTV , I interviewed Greg Smith (Dov) @gregorythesmith before the series premiered. Check it out http://bit.ly/bPncs9

Love this part:
Quote:

Adam: How did you get involved with Rookie Blue?

Greg: It was the last script I read during 2009’s pilot season. The characters leaped off the page and the entire script had a tremendous energy. But most important, I LOVED Dov. I was finishing his sentences before page 15. That doesn’t happen very often; when it does you must do something about it. Thus began my campaign for the gig!

Adam: What can we expect from Rookie Blue?

Greg: An emotionally driven and funny show about five rookie cops that is not cynical.

Adam: Think fast: give me a tag-line for the show.

Greg: Rookie Blue: Arresting television. Kidding…kind of. (laughs)
:haha:

can't help it, but Greg always makes me *lol* :D

I heard from a Finnish friend of mine, that Rookie Blue has started to air there last week!

Yes, that one was awesome! I tweeted it yesterday. Guess I forgot to do it here. All the RB writers were really pumped about it.

Oh so it was Noelle in that twitter video with Ben and the other guys. Always wondered what her background was. She's so outrageously funny on twitter! :haha:

Thanks for the scoop!

Yes, that was her. She's definitely a jock like Missy. She was teasing her yesterday saying she had a friend who would be the perfect stunt double when she plays Mia Hamm. It was so tongue in cheek, I had to ask if it was a real project or just something so perfect for Missy, she assumes it will happen some day.

"He said there was no need to cast new actors as rookies for the second season as real-life cops have informed them that new recruits are referred to as rookies for the first five years. "In our series, there’re dozens and dozens of scenarios we haven’t put our rookies in yet. We’ve maybe another season before we start hiring new actors as rookies," said Cameron."

I guess this means that they can keep the name Rookie Blue :D (remember that thread a while back...)

Just found this random article - it has some cute tidbits, including a thing about how Greg Smith got in trouble for posting a pic on Twitter!

I liked this comment from Greg:
Quote:

"For me it was a cop show that was filled with optimism. A lot of cop shows I had seen in the past had a more cynical view of the world. This show has a lot of youthful optimism and fun. That was what captured my heart initially," he said, adding that he also fell in love with Toronto during the production.

I agree and think that beyond the sizzling Sandy chemistry and general talent of the cast, the show's unique secret sauce is the optimism balanced with an incredible ability to write touching distraught parent, especially conflicted mom, scenes for the cases they've encountered.

awww, thanks so much for posting this!

that's a great interview with Missy and Greg!

Quote:

“I always wanted to (play a cop) my whole life,” said Smith, 26, who previously starred in Everwood.

“I thought I was going to have to wait until I was like 40 or something, but this is perfect.”

*hehe* perfect indeed!
and I so can't imagine Greg as Chris...NO WAY! :haha:

Thanks, I hadn't seen that one. This part made me laugh too. So many of them initially wanted or were given a different part than what they read for. Very interesting. I cannot imagine Greg and Travis switched.

Quote:

Smith displayed a bit of rebelliousness in the auditions, too.

Producers and writers wanted him to try out for the part of Chris, but he had his heart set on Dov.

“So I auditioned for Chris but I took Chris’s lines in the audition and I crossed out his name and I wrote Dov on them,” he explained.

“I did the whole audition for Chris as Dov and they got the point and it worked.”
