Review of The Big Nickel is up on TVFanatic.com. It's very pro-Sandy. Enjoy!

Big Nickel Review

Love this!!
Quote:

While "Big Nickel" was an entertaining episode of Rookie Blue, it also highlighted a major problem on the show: Andy and Sam have clear chemistry. They know it. Even a prisoner in the backseat of their car knows it. Luke may be a nice guy and solid detective, but the feelings just aren't there on Andy's side, making this a love triangle that feels more like the show just spinning its wheels until it takes the obvious step of putting Andy and Swarek together.

Thanks for sharing that link! Two comments by the reviewer that I found interesting:
Quote:

"I'd comment on Peck's storyline, but must be honest: I just don't care. Something about that character bores me to death. Let's move on...

... to the final scene: Luke kissed Andy, and she returned the lip lock. But did her face at the end express happiness over the reunion? Or hesitation? I sensed the latter. How about you?"

I LOVE Gail's character. But personally I've begun to lean toward a Gail and Dov pairing next season. I think the two of them are fun together. I have been a Chris/Gail shipper until of late but I don't know...something about Gail and Dov is more interesting. Dov can definitely stand on his own against a Peck attack. Chris (like Eric Johnson mentioned on twitter) is kinda like a golden retriever...way too kind for Gail to kick around. :uhh:

I too read into Andy's facial expression after her kiss with Luke. There really wasn't much joy or passion on her face afterwards. Her heart just isn't into the Landy relationship anymore (really has it ever been?). Continuing the Landy relationship to the bitter end of Season 1 would just be way too contrived on the writers' part. Let's hope Andy FINALLY breaks it off this episode! But I'm not going to hold my breath. :whistle

According to Tassie's latest twitter comment (thank you LAWoman!) we'll probably have some Sandy sexy time or at least flirting during their undercover stint! YAY!!!!

Hmm, interesting. You may have persuaded me to become a Peckstein shipper. Some more equal sparring would be welcome for Gail. Even though Chris was softening her up a bit at first, that sure didn't last long. I always found it a little hard to buy into her going for someone that much on the straight and narrow. Or that Chris could deal with all her bitter nastiness and cynicism, for that matter. They do seem more like a short fling than a real couple. The roommate dynamics between Dov and Chris will be tricky, though, if they go that route. Ben did say love triangles, plural, in his interview though, right?

Whoa LAWoman...Great catch on Ben's TvFanatic interview!

What is your favorite part about being on Rookie Blue?

As an actor, I love exploring relationships and doing that in the world of city cops is a wonderful combination. You get all sorts of interesting action and you also get to delve into complicated interpersonal dynamics. You've got the crime fighting element, the romance element, love triangles, politics in the work place... It's just a fascinating mixture of entertaining subject matter.

He DID say love triangles! Could this mean a love triangle between Gail, Chris, and Dov in the future...hmmm this would be a fun RB twist! hehehe... :D

Yeah the only messy thing would be the afterfall of said triangle especially when Dov and Chris are roommates. :ermm:

Unless something is going to happen between Traci and Chris! Remember Jerry was an absolute JERK in the last episode (that can be, yet another triangle).

Yes, that one occurred to me later. Boy, that would be risky for Diaz, first he rats out a senior dirty undercover, then he takes the girl of a senior Detective. That's what I call living dangerously!

Its not taking the girl of a senior Detective if they are over (which I kind of hope is not the case cuz I like Gail/Chris and Traci/Jerry)

There's a new review/recommendation about what to watch up from TVIsMyPacifier.com

Just My Opinon--If We Controlled Your Remote… 9/2/10

Quote:

Last week’s episode had Andy and Sam losing a prisoner in the woods and the rookies having to get their weapon recertification. Andy and Sam eventually found the prisoner, and had a sweet moment between the two of them. (Andy and Sam FTW!) Later, Luke and Andy made up (*sigh*) and all because Sam tried to give Andy what he thinks is best for her.

Natalie posted links to ep 11 reviews by TVFanatic and Daemon's TV on the FF site:

Rookie Blue Review: "To Serve or Protec" - TV Fanatic
Quote:

The episode was perfectly solid, with an especially good performance by Missy Peregrym. She was fantastic in her speech to her dad, telling him she couldn't clean up his messes any longer; and in her reaction to later learning about the mother of that victim years ago.

But soon after "To Serve or Protect" concluded, I found myself lamenting the missed opportunity for this show to take an edgy step and get out of its comfort zone for a change.
[...]
I asked last week and I'll ask again: Why aren't Andy and Sam together? Aside from the writers wanting to drag this out for tension's sake, is there a legitimate storyline reason for them to not be taking that chemistry from the squad car to the bedroom?

ROOKIE BLUE "To Serve or Protect" Review | Daemon's TV
Quote:

Stern mothers, drunken fathers and superheroes were the focus of the eleventh episode of ROOKIE BLUE, “To Serve or Protect”. As the first season draws to a close, the episodes have gotten stronger and stonger and this week was one of Rookie Blue‘s finest.
[...]
Andy’s despair over her father’s alcoholism is touching yet not overly sentimental. There are no plate throwing scenes of Emmy-bait angst, no heart to heart vomitrocious moments. When she finally tells him that she’s done trying to help him you feel she has changed. She is no longer the sweet girl on the block. She’s matured.

Thanks for posting...totally agree  with this quote from the TV Fanatic review:

Quote:

If the show wants us to believe in Andy and Luke as a couple, it has to give us more on the latter. We know absolutely nothing about the guy. He's nice, forgiving, good at his job... but there's just not the same spark as there is between her and Swarek. That doesn't exactly make for pulse-pounding television.

Exactly, we know hardly ANYTHING about Luke from watching the episodes. They need to develop his character more next season. Otherwise RB fans will sadly begin to write him off...AND even though I like Eric, his character so far hasn't been very compelling for me to watch... Posted Image

And need I say that the Landy relationship must die!! Posted Image But why do I get the sinking feeling they'll be together even when Season 2 begins? Posted Image Let's hope that Sandy finale kiss acts as a catalyst!

Absolutely, we know nothing about him and that´s what makes him so boring.

I hope that we´ll get to know another site of Luke in season 2. Maybe even his own storyline about solving a case or something like that.

And I have the same feeling about Landy, that they´ll still be together in season 2, but let´s hope not :uhh:

Luke needs a new love interest in season 2 so we don´t have to bother about him anymore :D

Reviews of the final two episodes are starting to trickle in. Two I picked up from fans tweeting links:

Leader-Post: Rookie Blue, This One's Worth a Look

Love this:
Quote:

For those of you that did watch it, did you notice any resemblance to Hill Street Blues - scenes in the assignment room to cases to life stories, just from a rookie perspective.

TVFanatic: Rookie Blue Season Finale

This is the site with critics totally on the same page with all of us!
Quote:

In this overall series review, we take our cue from one aspect of the two-part finale and evaluate what worked and didn't work on Rookie Blue over the course of its first season...

PASS: Missy Peregrym and Ben Bass. Solid actors with great chemistry together who could go from dramatic to light-hearted in the course of one conversation. Helps that they are both easy on the eyes, as well.

FAIL: Andy and Luke. I've written about this before, but we know absolutely nothing about the latter and this relationship just feels like a forced way to keep Andy and Sam apart. Based on what we know of the couple, seems impossible to believe they'd move in together.
...
PASS: Andy to that man with a gun: This is NOT my first day. Nice way of bringing the opening season full circle, as we all remember the famous scene in the pilot where Andy pleaded with a crimlnal to give her a break... because it was her first day.

Ouch with the criticism!

ROOKIE BLUE is out for the summer. And if last night’s double episode season finale was anything to go by, I will definitely be longing for next summer to hurry on up…not. I mean, don’t get me wrong. It was fine. Rookie Blue is always fine; entertaining, safe and forgettable. Pasta without sauce.

:yahoo: Personally...I can't WAIT until next summer!!! :yahoo:
