Sorry to say it but, I totally agree with these reviews. The show has so much potential with great actors but the writing just isn't cutting it.

Edited because correct English is important to me.

I don't think the reviews are too harsh, These last two episodes weren't that good considering it was finale they could have done way better.

Well, thank God it wasn't the series finale. Can you imagine how upset we'd all be if that finale was where things left Sandy forever??

This is more about the whole first season than an episode, but I'm going to add it to this thread anyway. A Canadian blog had this to say toward the end of the season:

GoneTVGone

Quote:

While I anxiously await the next episode, here are my Top 5 favourite things about Rookie Blue:

1. Ben Bass: As senior officer and unrequited love interest Sam Swarek, Bass is my new celebrity crush, and he can act too!

2. Gregory Smith: The former star of the WB’s Everwood, the veteran – and Canadian! – actor plays rookie Dov Epstein. Smith is an incredible talent and a great asset to the show, if the writers can figure out what to do with him. With a name like Dov Epstein, there has to be a good back story, and it would be a real waste not to create some better storylines for Smith.

3. Enuka Okuma: This Vancouver resume includes roles in blockbuster movies and some of television’s most highly-rated shows, including 24 and Greys Anatomy. Her storyline as rookie Traci Nash is promising, as a single mother having an affair with one of the detectives.

4. Matt Godon: As training officer Oliver Shaw, Gordon is one of those actors you know you’ve seen but just can’t place. But here, he shines through as the cynical Shaw, adding humour and truth to the squad room.

5. Toronto!: The show is loosely set in Toronto, which means that the City is not explicitly highlighted, but nor there an attempt to pretend it’s New York or Chicago.

First review of the Pilot from the UK is in. I'm totally on board with the writer about first reactions being a desire to be strip-searched by pretty much every member of the cast. B) :haha:

Metro Review: Entire Cast Looks Like Models

Here was Matty's reaction:

I know what you mean, it's very shallow - but it's a reason by I dislike the UK version of the Office. Everything about the characters annoys me.

Kiren i prefer the UK original version of The Office. Luscious i have to say i will give you Taggart as someone who lives just outside Glasgow City centre i say the cast of that show aren't good looking. The Guardian article says the cast of Rookie Blue are good looking. The cast of Rookie Blue are so good looking i think it should be an arrestable offense.

I gotta disagree with you on that one. RB is definitely an above average cast in the looks dept.

On a separate note, here's a link to another great long review of the pilot. I guess this is more like a semi-professional review, but it's worth a read.

Slouching Toward Thatcham: Rookie Blue Season 1, Ep 1

excerpt:
Quote:

Missy Peregrym is excellent in her lead role, as Andy veers between fear and determination, and humiliation and pride as she makes her first arrest.

Working from a start point where the five new officers are naive to reality offers plenty of scope for development. It’s easy to empathise with their very real struggles as they fumble and stumble and make mistakes, and generally discover that there is a world of difference between following rules and procedures and actually being a police officer.

With such a large ensemble cast of rookies, training officers and other characters, there is potential for rich, relationship-driven story-telling. Already we know about Traci and Jerry’s affair, and there are enough suggestions in the pilot to suggest that the sparky personal and professional relationship between Andy and Sam will feature heavily on an ongoing basis.

I have to agree with LA woman here. You if you think of any of the cop shows that are around. How many have cast members like the RB cast. Everyone except sorry MattyB and Noam are the ones who slightly let the side down.

Ive actually met a lot of people that prefer the UK version to the American. I just can't get into it. Guess I'm set in my North-American ways.
