I made a collage of Ben's scenes in Bonanno: A Godfather's Story (1999).![]() you can click on this link and click on the photo for a bigger version if you like He's actually in the very first part of this mini-series titled The Youngest Godfather. His character lived during the late 1920s NYC during Prohibition in the United States. The era had some great fashion and he looks fiiiine This version on YouTube is in Hungarian, but if you go to 1:03:19, you can hear Ben's voice singing/humming in Italian (and I melted a bit ) His scenes are around 45:00 to 1:04:00. The is a 2:50:00 version (in 2 parts) in English on YouTube takes place from 1939 to the 1960s. I only could find the earlier years (that Ben is in) in this Hungarian dubbed version. The mafia story was pretty interesting even if you aren't huge into Mafia movies like me (but I always watch them and end up enjoying them, go figure). |

thanks a lot vixenali! it's not easy for me to find his older work, totally enjoyed to finally be able to see him in an other context. Are you sure he sings in italian? I thought it was english , probably he just hums. I think the only words his character says in italian are Giovanni Romano, buongiorno amici miei and attenzione cannoli. However loved his sway and the incomprehensible singing. ps: he looks fine but really, this man is like wine! |

It sounds like Italian to me (maybe some kind of dialect or mix of Italian and English? or some kind of nonsense song?--I only understand food, greetings, and swear words in Italian ). I ordered the dvds (found them cheap!), so I might be able to see what comes up on closed captioning.I wanna see him play other characters from the early 20th century! |

LOL, you are ready to travel here, you don't need to know anything else. well, just for my curiosity, if one day with the DVDs you will be able to solve the mystery let me know, please. just to see if in addition to English classes should I take also of Italian. Ps: I forgot to say that the collage is amazing. I'm not a fan of the coppola hat but with that face he can do whatever he wants. |

I got my dvd's a few days ago and finally got around to watching his bits (in English!) this evening. Ben as Giovanni Romano speaks in an Italian accent (it's not bad/not the best, but it works for the movie ). There is no closed captioning or subtitles for it, so I guess we'll just go with he's singing/humming some Italian American immigrant version of some sort of song or something? haha, all I know is I like hearing him sing. Now I have to see if I can get his scenes on youtube or something, which may take awhile for me to get around to doing, but when I do, I'll let everyone know and Overthinker, awesome I'm all set to converse then! Thanks a lot Vixenali for letting me know. Too nice from you. You can be right, or it can be an American song about Italian emigrants (how much they miss home, or the family, stuffs like these). My uncle knows a bunch of them and we always get into a fight every time we try to explain to him that we don't have them here. Can be something like that. Ps: It's not easy to fake Italian accent (above all a southern one, pretty sure he is dealing with Sicily's one, it's something I'm not able to do, so I can imagine his difficulty) but I'm sure he is damn sexy trying to do it and if you add to that the humming... |
