Thank you so much for putting this up. It´s such a great interview and he looks so adorable in this picture

He seems like such a genuine ad profound guy.

Thats my favourite part of the interview.

Quote:

But as soon as I got into the theatre, I felt that it was one of the first places in my life that I was sort of at home. So I just kept pursuing it, and I got other parts, and then I went to theatre school... And really, once I found it, I thought it was a better fit for me than music, just because I was more scoped to that universe than I was to music, so I never looked back. I felt like I found my calling.

All I can say is wow, he's passionate about acting. I've never had an actor give such insight into their craft.I'll have to go back and re-read his answers whew!If I didn't like him before I love him now  I always am more appreciative of an actor who is in this business because they care about the work and the art.Keep the interviews coming Ben! Thanks of course for posting this! :yahoo:

Thank you for posting this. It was so nice to read/ get to know him better. He doesn't feel so mysterious now Lol, I love that he is so passionate about his work and the respect he has for everyone he is such great guy.

Finally they are giving us more Ben, they should have done it sooner but am not complaining. Here hoping there is a lot more to come

ssora, thank you SO MUCH for finding this and posting the link! Wow, what a great interview!! Ask the man serious questions about his profession, and he has a lot of interesting things to say. No wonder he's not big on the dim Access Hollywood type of shows, or even the late night comedy talk shows--they usually focus on surface things like who the actors are dating, etc.

This cracked me up, but also made me fall for him more because I love musicians. I'd sure like to see a scene of Sam sitting around home playing an acoustic guitar to take advantage of that talent!
Quote:

No, I was a musician actually. I played a lot of different instruments as a kid, I played drums, violin, bass, saxophone... And then I got into guitar eventually when I was around 11 or 12. I played guitar for years, I took a lot of lessons, and that’s what I planned to do - go into music, into a rock and roll band.

And, of course, I loved this part about Sam:
Quote:

I guess I identify with him. I think he’s very passionate about his job, I identify with that. He’s obviously very passionate about Andy, and I identify with the romantic notion, the fact that he’s a romantic - although I don’t know if he would ever admit that. So I identify with that, and I identify with what I perceive as a high level of skill. That’s something that we all aspire to, to a high level of skill or proficiency with whatever it is that we’re interested in, so that’s always attractive in terms of a character. And it’s something that I aspire to, so I like that about Sam.

Thats exactly what I thought after reading this interview. He isn´t the mysterious guy anymore, we actually get to know him on a personal base.

That part cracks me up :haha:

But for me, it needs to have the relationships and the sort of moral component. Like, I played a doctor on Law and Order who was cutting up rich people and giving the parts to poor people essentially, and I can identify with that morally – not that I want to cut up rich people (make sure you put that in there!), but the moral component is there. I’m not saying that what he did was right, but that he’s trying to do something that he feels very strongly about has a very tangible moral component. So that’s important. When I perform as an actor, for me it’s all about the human experience, the relationship experience between people.

OMG! Thanks so much for posting this ssora!! I can't believe we got TWO interviews this week from our mysterious guy Ben! YAY! Maybe he'll come out of hiding more often now...hahaha! :D

I really love his passion for acting. It's interesting to hear that he wanted to be a musician at first...but I'm so glad he chose acting. He's amazing! So cute, that the first best critic that came to his mind was his MOM...awww!

I wonder if Ben can quote Shakespearean lines by heart...hehehe... :D

And now you’re getting ready to film the second season of Rookie Blue – when will that be airing?

We’re going to do a bunch of episodes, and it’ll air next year, but I’m not sure when. They probably want to try and do it a little sooner rather than later, because of the shows great success. But they also want to get it right, and they’re going to make sure they get it right before it goes back on the air. So we’ll just try to have fun with it in the meantime!

I hope this means maybe we'll get the new season by mid May? Crossing my fingers!! :yahoo:

I produced a short film last year which I co-wrote, and we’re in post production now. So that’s certainly kind of a long process. And what was nice about producing this film was that I could help to create, and be a part of the creation of, the working environment, that kind of climate
I can't wait to see this short film that was produced and co written by Ben, no mention of the name but I'm sure on of us will find it!
