I started watching Rookie Blue in the summer 2010 after seeing a promo on global (recognized Missy Peregrym from a movie called Stick it) and what kept me watching was Ben Bass. I then became to enjoy other characters, story lines, the humour and simplicity of the show despite it‘s cliché‘s, some unrealistic police work (but it’s tv right? Not everything is realistic) and became addicted to the show. After watching Would Be Kings and this show, I wonder why Ben isn’t recognizable in Hollywood (to a certain extent). I hope after this show he has a big break or something. He portrays Swarek with such realism, charm and depth to the character (it helps that he’s easy on the eyes, even according to a 20 year old lol). Am I the only one that basically wouldn’t watch the show if Ben Bass was not in it? As I patiently wait for season 2, I worry that the show will drag on with Luke/Andy (no chemistry, boring in my opinion), I’m getting sick of shows that drag on their main pairing (Sam/Andy seem to be in this show) until season 6 or so, and let’s be honest I don’t think Rookie Blue will last that long, as much as I hate to admit it. You can create more problems with the main couple being together. Sam and Andy almost melt my tv screen, and it would be terrible if the writers kept giving Andy the excuse of Luke being the safe choice in order to keep Sam/Andy apart, or turning the triangle (if you even would call it that) into a square, etc… haven’t other shows done that already? Bring originality! As much as I love angst, and don’t agree with Sam and Andy being a couple until the end of season 2, keeping them apart, dancing around each other’s feelings would annoy me and I would lose interest in the show. I guess I’ll just enjoy the scenes of Ben Bass, humour of Gregory, Matt and Travis characters while I watch Andy/Luke as a couple for beginning (let’s hope it’s just in the beginning) of season 2. The writers have such potential with this show to be a bigger hit than last summer, but they also need to develop other characters, and not just make Andy the focus of every episode. I also don’t have anything against the character of Luke, just don’t like the Luke/Andy pairing. Sorry for the ramble. |

Welcome to the forum, we all feel the same way Andy/Luke are boring and I just don't want them on my screen but I guess we don't have choice they will drag this couple for however long... Personally I would prefer if Sam and Andy have off and on again relationship to Luke and Andy I would't watch this show if Ben Bass wasn't in it either...I hope the writers know how much almost all the audience adore Sam Swarek and gave us more of him next season...I think he will get the show the ratings they want next season he is by far the most popular character on the show, they should use Sam and Andy's relationship to promote thats what most people are interested in anyways Edited by UltimateR, Dec 31 2010, 03:44 AM.

Thank you for the welcome :) I agree with you about using Sam/Andy’s relationship to promote the show. Although Ben seems like a private guy who cares about his craft (increases my respect for the actor even more), and I understand that the show is about the rookies, I think him and Missy should do some promotional stuff together. I hope that with Luke/Andy being a couple in season 2 doesn’t mean less screen time for Swarek. The writers have a chance to develop his character, and not just go the route of him chasing Andy around all season. I don’t know why but I just can’t seem to care about Luke, or how perfect he is, or his past. No disrespect to the actor, who plays the character perfectly. |

I totally agree with you california2. Eric is a great guy he replies to my tweets on twitter. Just dont like Luke there is something about that character apart from he is with Andy, that i don't like. I would like to explore Sams backstory more maybe meet Sarah. Ben does need to do a lot more promotion for the show he doesn't seem to do many interviews. I want to know about him not the things like he wants to do in future. |

Welcome! I agree, Ben is an undiscovered talent. He seems to prefer to work in theater and work with producer/director/writers that he's worked with before, so I think he's very particular about his craft. Hopefully, though, we'll see more of him now that RB is a success! |

Well, looks like he must be doing at least a little more PR for the show for overseas markets:
