At 9pm Expedition Impossible won the hour but was down 25% from last week’s premiere to a 1.8 adults 18-49 rating. Rookie Blue took the 10pm hour, it was down too, but only 13% to a 1.4 adults 18-49 rating.

Not bad.

Yes, it's great that the holiday weekend hit RB much less than other shows!

Here's another ratings blurb. ABC Has a Respectable Thursday w/ Rookie Blue

Quote:

Heading into the 4th of July holiday weekend, ABC's new Thursday line-up ranked #1 for the night for the 2nd week running among Adults 18-49, beating Fox by 31%, CBS by 42% and NBC by 143%. In fact, for the 2nd straight week, ABC's programs won each of their respective time slots.

ABC's Rookie Blue finished first in Thursday's 10 o'clock hour in Adults 18-49 for the 2nd consecutive week. The ABC summer drama tripled NBC's Love Bites in Total Viewers, while doubling NBC's scripted competition in the key young adult demo. In addition, Rookie Blue improved the hour for ABC in viewers and young adults versus the year-ago night (Boston Med on 7/1/10).

Canadian ratings were just posted Canadian Ratings Week of June 27:
Quote:

THURSDAY

Like Combat Hospital, Global’s Rookie Blue dropped in its second episode, but still won the night with 1,072,000 overnight, estimated viewers. That beat by a thousand the 1,071,000 who channelled The Mentalist and edged the 1,022,000 who checked out Expedition Impossible on CTV. So You Think You Can Dance pulled 968,000. TSN’s CFL season premiere featuring defending champs Montreal vs. B.C. threw for 715,000. A Jays game on Sportsnet batted 439,000.

Meanwhile, over on Showcase, something interesting was going on with those two new comedies. Almost Heroes pulled its highest number yet — 103,000 — but at 11 p.m., not 9 when it drew 22,000. Single White Spenny outdrew Heroes earlier at 9:30 (64,000), but fell well behind at 11:30 (40,000). I don’t know what it means, either.

Okay, so I don't really understand this article but it has ratings in it (TV numbers)
Quote:

ABC’s lineup was mixed. Wipeout was steady versus last week with a 2.0 adults 18-49 rating. Expedition Impossible was down 11% to a 1.6 adults 18-49 rating, but Rookie Blue was up 7% from last week to a 1.5 adults 18-49 rating.

These numbers don't play a large value. For all broadcasting channels is more important good demo.

The demo numbers are the most important. That is the one the advertisers and the networks look at. Anything around 1.4 -1.7 is good ratings anything higher is all good. Summer demo numbers are usually down compaired to the Fall/Winter numbers. If Rookie Blue gets 1.4 - 1.6 its amazing as it is good for renewal as fall/winter shows have been renewed with even lower demo numbers.
It is What it is!!

Rookie Blue gets 1.4 million viewers

Quote:

ROOKIE BLUE WINS ITS TIMESLOT AND IS THE #2 PROGRAM OF THE NIGHT

1.4 million loyal Rookie Blue fans (Ind. 2+, national) were arrested by another riveting episode. Andy and Luke got engaged, and the stakes continue to rise for the officers at 15 Division.

ROOKIE BLUE SEASON 2 DATA HIGHLIGHTS (All data Adults 18-49):

594,000 viewers in key A18-49 demo, second only to Big Brother for the night
Won its timeslot in each of the three key markets

And the Rookie Blue drama continues in “Heart & Sparks” (Thursday, July 14 – 10pm ET/PT): As the 15th Division attempts to recover from the shooting of Det. Luke Callaghan, a series of arsons culminates in the torching of a laundromat. The list of suspects grows, as Chris and Gail take to the streets and encounter a man from Chris’s past, while Traci interrogates a young firebug found at the arson scene. Meanwhile, Andy’s effort to stop the grieving widow from entering the burnt-out laundromat results in the two women being trapped in the unstable building, and what seems like a straightforward case of arson ends up being something much bigger.

This is more industry chatter than ratings, but The Hollywood Reporter had an interesting article on the Canadian Media Production Association pressuring Canadian producers to fall in line with collective bargaining strategies when cutting deals with networks for additional seasons.

Canadian TV Producers Told to Fall in Line on Broadcast Deal

Excerpt:
Quote:

Managing Canadian indie producers is like herding cats. That maybe one of the reasons why their finger-wagging lobbyist, the Canadian Media Production Association, has publicly called on members producers to stick to a recently-inked terms of trade deal with five private broadcasters that comes into effect on August 1.

“This deal changes everything. …But it isn’t worth the paper it is written on unless all independent producers show solidarity and strictly follow the terms of the agreement in their individual negotiations with broadcasters.” CMPA president and CEO Norm Bolen said in his call for solidarity.

The worry is producers of hit TV shows like Flashpoint, Rookie Blue and Being Erica will compromise or negotiate outside the agreement when they sign upcoming contracts with Canadian broadcasters.

Sounds like it. Actors will know almost immediately, in time to prepare for the beginning of filming. They also wanted to start filming season 3 earlier in time to catch the warm and sunny weather.

This week's overnight numbers are out. RB was down 7% in the 18-49 demo, but fell by less than ABC's other two shows for the night.

TVbytheNumbers

ETA: here's some more TVbytheNumbers info with the ABC PR peeps' spin:
Quote:

During the 10 o’clock hour, ABC’s Rookie Blue scored a first place win in Total Viewers and Adults 18-49 for the 4th straight week, outdrawing NBC’s Love Bites by 3.3 million viewers and dominating the NBC original drama by 100% in the key young adult demo.

-Rookie Blue improved its time period year to year for ABC, topping an original airing of Boston Med on the same night last summer (7/15/10) by 13% in viewers and by 8% in Adults 18-49.
