Parallels Between Seasons

As I keep watching the episodes, I keep thinking of certain parallels between the episode numbers in each season.

For example: In episode one of both seasons, the ending scene takes place in the Penny with Sam watching Andy.

Just wondering what other people have caught (and waiting to see what happens in episode 7 of season 2 because we all know what happened in episode 7 of season 1!).

Someone on Fanforum (her username is BlairBass23) posted this on the board there:

"1x01/2x01: Both end with Sam giving Andy a look at the end of the episode. Both, also at The Penny. Love those looks.

1x02/2x02: At the end they both disregard. Both do not act on anything and both walk away from one another. But, just as in season 1 Andy is telling Sam something significant. Season 1 saying she wasn't scared because he was there and then in season 2 after him saying "Good work" she replies with "the way I was taught."

1x03/2x03: Sam's longing looks. Season 1 ending with him over looking the starting relationship of Andy/Luke. Then in season 2, him watching her walk away to go and be by Luke's side in the hospital.

1x04/2x04: This is the big one for me. Andy put herself in danger both episodes. Sam was there. At the end of 1x04 he says "I don't want anything to happen to you." And then in 2x04 him saying "I'm there when it matters." They both end with a significant thing on Sam's end. "

I guess she had been thinking about this too! haha

I didn't realize someone else posted it there - shows you how often I actually check that board.

In episode six of both seasons it is heavy for Luke and Andy. In the first season, she laughs and him and leaves his office when he suggests that he will meet her at the Penny and in the second season she walks out of the house.

Also, I know this is totally random but when Andy said "where I found it" at the end of the episode, don't ask me why but the first thing that popped into my head was what Marie D'Abramo says to Benny "because I washed it". The way they stressed certain words just seemed similar to me.

That's really cool actually. If it is going like that I SOO would not mind a Sandy-heavy episode this week like it was in 1x07. Although we should be scared for 2x08 then ;)

The parallels are not everything and I hope that the writers wouldn't put the fans through that again! But...talking about episode 8 - retraining in season 1, possibly the boxing scene in season 2?

Ep 105 involved a hostage situation and Andy having forgotten to load her gun. Ep205 involves Dov being held "hostage" by the bomb booby trap after having failed to be cautious enough.

1x02 / 2x02 : (In different ways) Sam is involved with a UC operation. He shows appreciation for the person helping him out. He says, "we a good team, you & me" to Emily in season 1 & to Andy in season 2.

In episode 7 of season 1, Oliver loses his gun to the guy Andy eventually kills. In episode 7 of season 2, Andy loses her gun to Ray Nixon - after he knocks her out, he takes her gun (and Luke gets the gun back). Also, in both of these episodes, Andy faces a person who has killed multiple people.

Andy is certainly having a rough rookie year/years. But that's why we love the show right?

I really like (BlairBass 23 from fanforum) Season's 1&2 episode comparisons. Does anyone know if has she posted any for episodes 5-9? I would be interested in reading them.

Thanks to the very talented ilovesandy for creating this awesome banner!

While I was watching (again...lost track of how many times) 3.02 - I realized that my initial impression of the beginning of the episode was "didn't they already do this?" In 1.11 and 3.02, the keys are left in the squad car. I'm wondering how many more "repeat" themes were are going to see this season - although I get the feeling that the stakes are going to be higher.

Not sure it hasn't been said already : Andy's backpack in S1E1 in the same as S3E1.

Also Sam helps her twice carrying baggage : S1E2 and S3E1

The obvious : the Talk from Oliver on the first episode of each season

Was anyone else waiting for the "trust your gut" speech again when Sam asked her why she didn't draw her weapon (flashback to 1.07)?

I was thinking that too!!! It reminded me just of where she chases down the homeless guy and Sam tasers the guy and he tells her not to overthink it! (**then he puts his arm on her back  )

Yes, in ep 1.07.
It was almost the same dangerous situation and Andy did the same "mistake" - she hesitated and put herself in danger.
In fact, I thought Sam would be really pissed off but, surprisingly, he said nothing.

Interesting that both Andy and Dov repeated mistakes from their early rookie days in ep 302.

Although for Andy, once she explained it, I didn't really see it as a mistake. She honestly thought that the kid was part of the scavenger hunt.

Yes, you have a point here.
But, even thinking the kid was part of the scavenger hunt, she put herself in danger ...
Maybe it's not a mistake, I don't know.
At the end she got hurt.
