No Ben Bass. Why???
That's what I was saying. It seems like the whole category Ben would be eligible for was left off the list? That's a major category too. I don't get it.

ETA: Someone pointed out on twitter that Ben probably wouldn't be considered the male lead, especially in s1, even though he's walked away with the show as far as most fans are concerned.

And no Gregory Smith?! He is amazing as Dov. Maybe that was left out by accident.

ETA: just saw your updated post.

What determines if an actor is in the lead vs supporting role?
I don't know much about the Gemini or the nomination process. Is the process similar to the Emmys?

I'm glad for all the actors getting nominations, but no Missy, Ben and Gregory? They are pretty much sold this show to the audience!

I know it is not Rookie Blue but hey, its Camille Sullivan:

Quote:

Best Performance by an Actress in a Continuing Leading Dramatic Role:

Being Erica - Erica, Interrupted
CBC (CBC)
Erin Karpluk

Blackstone - Bingo Night
APTN (APTN)
Carmen Moore

Republic of Doyle - Sympathy for the Devil
CBC (CBC)
Krystin Pellerin

The Listener - Ace in The Hole
CTV (Bell Media)
Lauren Lee Smith

Shattered - In The Dark
Global (Canwest)
Camille Sullivan

Blackstone - Suffer The Children
APTN (APTN)
Michelle Thrush

I get why Ben was not on the list - technically he was not the lead actor - but Missy should have been part of this list.

I kinda get why they didn't chose Ben - last year when they advertised for Rookie Blue it was really Missy and Greg. I think I will be more upset if they leave him off the list next year. But Missy - she totally should have been on the list this year.

I'm really shocked Ben didn't get nominated. I think he definitely has more of a front-runner spot on the show too.

As for the show that may be cancelled get nominations, it's not uncommon as long as the show aired in the period that it would be eligible to receive an award it will most likely be reviewed for nominations regardless of whether or not it is still airing by the time the actual nominations come out. If the show begins airing too late then it has to wait until the next year's award season to be considered for nominations (like showcase's King for example).

I'm hopeful Ben will get nominated next year (especially for last week's episode) if he doesn't I'll be even more surprised than I am about him not getting a nomination this time around.

Not sure how it works for these awards but often the producers/show runners decide which episodes and actors to submit for potential nominees. Sometimes even the actors will withdraw so that a colleague can have a better chance. Perhaps this went down in a similar way.

Interesting, I'm wondering if Ben did that (seems like his type to do so) because he thought that Greg would have a chance that way - after all, they did sell the show using Greg and Missy.

Ohhhhh so they were submitted. Interesting, and troubling. I love Jerry but Noam certainly doesn't kill the role like Ben does

I don't think they would have been submitted for the same categories, but , yeah, both Noam and Enuka were head scratchers to get noms ahead of Ben and Missy last season. They've both had more and better screen time this year, but last season their stand-out opportunities were pretty slim.

Right? I love them but didn't think Enuka did anything too outrageous...

In the midst of our happiness about the latest Rookie Blue episode, I'm passing along the disappointing news that none of the actors or writers won in their categories at the annual Geminis this year. The awards are being given out on three nights, and last night included the supporting actor categories (Enuka, Mel, Matt, Noam), and the guest actress category (Michelle Nolden for "Girlfriend of the Year)", plus the excellent writing team for "Big Nickel. " There are no RB nominations for the gala next Wednesday, but hopefully some RB stars will be on the red carpet (?)

Here's the link: http://www.geminiawards.ca/gemini26/main.cfm

I'm particularly disappointed that the script with "hambulance" missed an award. However, it was great that so many cast members were recognized! :D
