Tips to survive RB withdrawal

This overlaps two topics - surviving RB withdrawal, and makes me laugh today/everyday - reading/following Eric Johnson's twitter. Today's sample "Some people work really hard to put the "twit' in twitter" :eyeroll:

He is a gentleman when it comes to RB fans & their questions/comments: polite, teasing, funny!

The Good Wife is top notch, and I do like Private Practice, but NOTHING compares to McSwarek chemistry..

Has anyone heard of another Rookie show in the works.... it's a Robert De Niro production for CBS.. it's planned for mid-season.. Anyway, it's called "The 2-2", I guess they renamed it from Rookies to 2-2 when Rookie Blue began airing...

Here's a bit of background info about the show, I guess the inevitable comparison will come, but we already know who's gonna win, right?
:yahoo:

(source: www.futoncritic.com)
The New Midseason Series:

From Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal comes THE 2-2, which follows six diverse NYPD rookies as they patrol the gritty streets of upper Manhattan. The new trainees include Jennifer "White House" Perry (Leelee Sobieski), a former college volleyball star and Marine MP in Iraq with a take-charge attitude; Ray "Lazarus" Harper (Adam Goldberg), the oldest rookie and a former police news reporter with better sources than many seasoned cops; Tonya Sanchez (Judy Marte), who comes from a family with a criminal history and has a very personal connection inside the force; Ahmad "Kiterunner" Kahn (Tom Reed), an Afghani native who fought his way to freedom; Kenny McClaren (Stark Sands), a fourth-generation police officer with great instincts but qualms about joining the force; and Jayson Toney (Harold House Moore), a young basketball legend who squandered his opportunity in the NBA. Their demanding Field Training Officer, Daniel "Yoda" Dean (Terry Kinney), is a case-hardened, unsentimental veteran of the force who emphasizes basics and holds each cop accountable for their actions. With unique backgrounds, personalities and reasons for being on the force, the new cops will make their share of rookie mistakes while they figure out how to relate to their boss, each other and to the people they swore to protect. Two-time Academy Award winner Robert De Niro ("The Godfather: Part II," "Raging Bull"), Jane Rosenthal ("Meet the Parents"), Academy Award nominee Richard Price ("The Color of Money"), Ken Sanzel ("Numb3rs") and James Mangold ("Walk the Line") are executive producers for CBS Television Studios in association with Tribeca Productions. The pilot was directed by James Mangold.

This will get interesting if ABC/Global decide to move RB as a mid season replacement.I'm sure in its own right a good show but to be honest reading the background on some of these characters woah trying a bit hard jeez some of character profiles look like they were copied from Hawaii 5-0.It seems over the top one of the best things about RB is the fact you can relate to the personalities everyday folk not some "MP in Iraq with a take-charge attitude" really, I think I'll stick to Rookie Blue, Thanks.

Me too! And it's interesting, you always find some new tidbit... for example, how the show portrays betrayals. I went back to the Luke/Andy first date scene in S1 ep4... The opening scene starts with Luke and Andy standing by a crime scene house, he's describing the house, says the house is half price "Double homicide will do that to your property".
Andy asks what happened in there?
Luke: It's pretty straightforward, guy goes home, finds his wife with someone else
Andy: Crime of passion, huh?
Luke: Love, I'd be out of work without it
Andy: So did the guy just confess?
Luke: No, not right away, it took a little more convincing than that. I told him he'd feel a lot better if he let it all out... Seemed kind of relieved he told me.. they usually are... Strangely it's like being a therapist...

:ermm: Makes you think it's almost like a subtle hint to what's coming much later :)

Gotta love Chuck Bass.
Ah, what's in an name

I've started watching the whole thing again. An episode a day, reading Fanfic and just drowning myself in my job (yeah... :yuk: )
Anyway, I'll take it it'll be next June before I know it. Time has just been flying past these last few years. i would be very disappointed if it wouldn't fly now...

I'm just very happy that Strictly Come Dancing is starting again soon (sorry... Truly addicted and have been for years..) and that will keep me of the streets.

ETA; Oh, why not join 'hands' and write a fanfic together. One starts with a sentence and the next adds a sentence and so on... Could be fun :D

Talking about names.. what about all the code blurbs in the show...

Here's another idea that can keep us busy... let's find out what some of the references to the police codes are... and how different are they from the police codes used in the US? I found a site that lists the codes:

Police Slang and Codes

In S2 episode 7, Sam mentions to Andy: We've got an EDP... chainsaw....
Andy looks at him in a kind of 'say what??'
Then when they get to the tree where lunatic 'King George' is up on the tree with the chainsaw.. she asks "Is this our EDP?"

It's not on the list in the above link.. but EDP is 'Emotionally Disturbed Person' :)

They've also used codes like 10-33 etc.. now let's go back and find out how many different codes they used.. and figure them out...

Could definitely be fun. Why don't you start it off in it's own thread? The Writer's Room folder seems the best place for it.

that site is awesome *L* I always look for those codes when I'm writing fic, so it's nice to find them all on one site.

I'm planning on facing them by watching Nikita  ,The Mentalist :shifty: Hawaii-5-0 :p ,(soon Rizzoli and Isles) :yahoo: ,and other shows  but none of them hold a candle to Rookie Blue  but Nikita :eyeroll: and Rizzoli and Isles  come close

Grey's Anatomy starts in 3 weeks! And it'll probably be on 'till mid May! (Hopefully RB starts in May again, instead of June!)

Tip for surviving withdrawal: eat a quart of double fudge brownie ice cream while reading a really trashy romance novel. :p

This topic is back again? Already?

Here's my tip - until 10 pm on Thursday when they don't say 'Next week on Rookie Blue' - I'm in denial about the fact that it is the season 3 finale

Last year it was Sons of Anarchy that got me through the initial period, and then my husband came home from his deployment and I was nicely distracted.

This year I think I'll be doing a lot of re-watching the seasons, and read a bunch of fan fiction. I've mostly avoided fan fic recently, letting it buildup to help me through the hiatus. Of course I've got cub scouts, pto and volunteer stuff at my boys' school to keep me insanely busy too.

Are we going to do the weekly re-watch together again this year like we did last?

I think so - 39 episodes = one a week should bring us right around the time when S4 airs (and worse is we'll double up some at the end when we have a season premiere date for season 4)
