Oh, gosh, not this subject again !!!
Yes, Mrs. Bass acting skills is one dangerous subject. We don't know if one of them (them meaning the actors or someone from the production) comes to this board, so better stay away from subjects that can sound discourteous to Mrs. Bass or any other RB actor/producer.
As a matter of fact, I strongly regret what I said before (in the post quoted above). I'm super aware, and I totally agree, that these kind of opinions should be kept out of this board - nobody's interested in them and they can hurt people feelings.

I think the reason people shouldn't post negative or insulting comments about Laura is because, as vixenali said, she’s Ben’s wife and as such, she deserves our respect. Not because you don’t want the cast and/or crew of the show think negative things about you.

But hey, that’s just my humble opinion. :D
I'm sure I did not explain correctly my opinion.
I 100% agree Laura Carswell deserves our respect, not only because she's BB's wife, but first of all, because she does not deserve to be insulted.
And I believe that negative comments about her or her work should be kept out of this board. I'm not saying this because I'm worried if someone from the cast or crew thinks negative things about me. I never said I was worried about what they could think about me and I'm not.
But I'm worried if I make a rude comment and hurt people's feelings, because I truly believe in avoiding this kind of comments. No matter what, nobody has the right to be rude to others.

I'm curious how she would portray a more serious/drama role. I've only seen her in more comedic roles so far. Which she does really good!
That's true. I wonder what's harder anyway....

I *think* we'll see Laura more and more to be honest. Hopefully in a serious dramatic role!

AGREED! :D
Thanx for clarifying you point. I apologize if I came off mean but sometimes things in print do not translate well or as they were initially intended.

I hope so! It will be very interesting to see how she portrays something with a little more depth and substance.

Perception is uber cool and got renewed for a 13-episode season 2! Maybe Laura will be in it :)

Its July 9 premiere ranks as the year’s third best cable debut, behind TNT’s Major Crimes and Dallas.
Season 1 has 10 episodes and the finale will air on September 17.

When we were talking to Ben last week we asked about his wife. He said that she was studying/getting education. He told us that she was currently in NYC taking acting lessons/theatre classes under someone named Larry Moss.

That's awesome and good for her! I don't even know anything about acting/theater but I have heard that larry moss is a very big name and well respected teacher/coach. Hopefully we will see her in more stuff :)

For Canadian viewers, "Perception" starts this Wed. Sept. 5 on Bravo Canada at 9 p.m.

Ben Bass also studied with Larry Moss, very famous (& sometimes contraversial) "Method" acting teacher/coach. Here's his web page showing the class(es) Laura Carswell's participating in: http://larrymoss.org/larry-moss-acting-coach-work-shops

Seeing those pics of BB & Laura Carswell yesterday reminded me that for Canadian viewers "Perception" is on tonight at 9 pm on Bravo: second ep. As we all know, she was in the premiere and, according to IMDB etc, she doesn't come back until Ep 6 ("Lovesick")

There was an article a week ago in the "Toronto Star" with Eric McCormack, star & producer. About the shoot, it says:]

"...there is a perception (pun intended? :p ) that Perception is shot in Chicago, where the story is set. The reality is that the pilot was shot in Toronto (mostly on the University of Toronto campus) and the rest of the series is produced in Los Angeles.

Los Angeles, with its sunshine and palm trees, rarely doubles for Chicago & McCormack admits it has been hard finding traditional Ivy League campus architecture on the West Coast.

Many of the school scenes, he says, are shot in an old church in Pasadena."

Those scenes at U of T with Eric & Laura after the class were shot behind University College with the quad of the Sir Daniel Wilson Res in the background...

Indeed, Laura doesn't appear in episodes 2, 3, 4 and 5 (neither does she in episodes 7 & 8 and I don't know about episode 9 because I haven't had time to watch it yet).

Thanks Hawley!! Only in the past year or so have I really really wanted to support Canadian-made TV. I don't know if it's just because I see how competitive it can be against american shows or whatever... or I like the fact that they use Canadian settings (even if they're pretending its Chicago). Regardless, I love it! I'm gonna tune in tonight and hopefully I like it. :)

I'm going to give it another try tonight, too, plus the ep where she's back. Not spoiling it for anyone who didn't see the premiere, I hope, but it seems pretty much a take off on "A Beautiful Mind", but it's kinda cool to try & figure out which character that pops up is "real" (like Laura's character of "Karyn") vs a figment of Eric McC's character's imagination!

I guess she obviously would have shot the premiere when they were in Toronto for RB S3 filming, then her followup spot back in LA? Wonder if the plan was for her character to return later, or if they liked her & wanted her back? From that YouTube spot, she was pretty funny in Ep6!

I've been watching it in the states and its a pretty interesting show. I wouldn't say riveting television but interesting.

I wonder that too but when guest stars come back "for no reason" I tend to think they're probably easy people to work with. Is Perception another show that only hires Canadian talent? (If you don't know... I'll look it up haha, don't let me be lazy and make you do the work!)

LOL! okay, I'll be lazy and let you do the work! :p

No idea about casting. Before reading that article, I was under the (wrong) impression that the entire season was shot in Canada - plus last week there were some familiar actors, like Joanna Douglas who played Ashley in 1.11.

Watched Episode 2 tonight, and agree - in addition to "A Beautiful Mind", think it's 'channelling' - pun intended! ;) -"The Mentalist" with the female cop/agent and the quirky male side kick ("Castle"-like, too)

Will probably watch Laura Carswell's next episode...next month

& it will be interesting to see if she gets a role in another Toronto-based show this filming season?

I hope she will and that we get to see her pop up in more shows :) She must be taking classes in NY now with that in mind.

Other than a great husband, Ben must be a great mentor for her as well. Or at the very least a great motivator.
