I would rather split it into two weeks but if not, I'll want 2.13 tomorrow at some point

Ok we can split it. I'll just watch finale moments from the Story of Sam and Andy after the ep is over, so the last part of 2x12 won't be the ending point tonight...don't wanna end it on the angst.

I wonder what Missy thought when she read the script for the intro scene for her hiding under the covers, kicking her feet, etc.

Ugh now I don't wanna wait til next week to watch 2x13. But I guess I will so we'll all be on the same page. Gonna watch the stay scene, etc.

Ok new plan...

Cythy....sillygyrl said she'd watch 2x13 tomorrow (Friday), and I know you said you could too. So I'm gonna go ahead and watch 2x13 tonight, b/c I'm really wanting to see it. Honestly, I think this is the first time I'm watching the full eps of 2x12 & 2x13 since they aired b/c I've always just watched The Story of Sam and Andy finale clips with all the McSwarek scenes, etc. I don't think I've watched the full finale eps since they aired.

So we'll all be ready for 1x01 next week.

Luke tells Boyd she's not his girlfriend, and then Boyd says fiance', and Luke says she's a rookie. So....Luke calls her a rookie....Boyd calls her that rookie.....Sam jumps in immediately saying her name is Officer McNally. Just like Sam said....picks a different "rookie" every year.

So glad they showed the small smile at the end.

I've made it through without missing a rewatch (after midnight doesn't matter b/c I still watched them before going to bed....so it was still Thursday in my mind) and we've made it through S1 & S2. I'm really glad this rewatch was started. Looking forward to Fresh Paint next week. It's enjoyable to watch how far McSwarek has come (the finale) and then see the beginning of it all as the next ep.

Luke saying she's a rookie - I don't have an issue with that - I think he is actually snubbing Boyd with that remark (kinda like "even a rookie figured out your attempted cover up)

I was too tired to post my comments on 2.12 last night:

Love the whole "juice" thing - was she just trying to be difficult or was she giving him a subtle message to keep OJ around when he finished the UC?

The ice cream story - you build from the truth, I hope we find out more about Sam's past at some point.

Brennan's visit - they must have informed the cast how the boat was going to play out because there is a look of putting all the pieces together once Sam mentions the boat.

Andy kept it real when they went to Cherry Beach - I like how she stayed close to the truth.

As for the other storyline - I love the upstairs neighbor he was hysterical!

Jerry talking to Traci about Kevin - "I was one of the uniforms..." Does this mean he has been a detective for less than four years or is uniforms just another was of grouping everyone at the police station who went to the scene?

(There was more but I can't remember right now)

I agree that it was a knock on Boyd, but I saw it more like 'What kind of lowlife heel tries to pass off his screw-ups on a junior colleague, taking advantage of the hierarchy/intimidation advantage like that?' Boyd had taken a poke at Luke's manhood and Luke was poking back at his.

Yeah I interpreted like that as well.
Like Luke was disgusted Boyd wouldn't own up when confronted but would try to pin accusations on a rookie instead.

Well the main reason I see the rookie comment from Luke as telling is that it was during the s2 finale, when Andy had already had her tie cut for a long time and was already at the career level where she's more an "officer" than a "rookie".

Sam told her she acted like a cop on her second day, after she rescued him and Emily.

So when Boyd as the audacity to go bitch at Sam about that rookie, Sam defends her and goes "her name is Officer McNally, and two years on the job, she's already 10 times the cop you'll ever be."

Boyd keeps referring to her as a rookie, but she sure as heck isn't one :)

I also think it references to s1e13 - at the end where the senior officer tells them to get off the cruiser.

s1 finale and s2 finale storylines are very parallel :)

Yeah, rookie has always been used by Luke and Boyd as a negative term for her. When Jo called her a doe eyed rookie to Luke, he didn't even act like it bothered him, and he said nothing. And Andy wasn't happy as being referred to as just Sam's rookie to Monica in H&B (of course that's a whole other double meaning). But yeah, it's like the term rookie has always been used as a negative against her coming from Luke or Boyd, etc.

I really disliked that about Luke. He never seemed to defend her around Jo. And while feminists could say that he knew she could take care of himself it still appeared to be a weakness of Luke's. Man up and show some pride in your lady and your relationship detective!

I think Luke is so all about himself that he was focused on seeing it as Jo making a dig at him for being a cliche of a guy going after a younger, easily impressed woman after their relationship blew up. It probably barely registered as an insult to Andy. Not that that makes it any better, it actually is probably worse than just being wimpy.

Ugh I know. He never would defend her period. Didn't even like Jerry calling her his fiance the day they got engaged.....some "groom". Nah, he didn't know that....he never would trust her instincts or abilities. The ironic thing is Sam has always wanted to protect her too, but at the same time, he's trusted her and her skills. Luke just tried to keep her in a bubble, which Sam knew. I love how Sam has always stood up for her (esp like the whole pizza scene with Jo) even when they weren't together.

That's what Luke is....full of himself and not worried about anyone else.

It's interesting how Sam was sincerely trying to save Luke from the gunshot, but yet Luke didn't show much care in trying to find Sam during the finale (despite knowing Jamie could be torturing him) other than just wanting to find a missing officer for the purpose of the job. Says a lot about Sam and Luke's character....think of Benny.
