Yeah, Southland just started a really good storyline with a newly pregnant detective who unexpectedly got assigned to supervisory duty back in uniform. That's an awesome character played by Regina King, who's a phenomenal actress. I'd like to see them do a bit more with Noelle and give Melanie some meaty scenes next season. With the Sarge as the baby daddy, there's plenty of possibilities for drama.
I've never seen Southland before but perhaps I will dive in one day and check it out. Is this the show with that cutey pie from the OC?

Yeah, he plays the brand new rookie in the first season. It's a really good show if you want a grittier, more realistic cop show. It feels almost like you're riding around with real cops.

if you are Canadian and have a iTunes account with iPod Touch, iPhone or iPad, GlobalTV has a free app where you can stream all the episodes from S1 & S2. For iPod Touch and iPad - you will need access to Internet/wi-fi though.

Episode 1.01 tomorrow night as we start the cycle again! I hope they release the air date of S3 soon so we can make adjustments to the weekly re-watch schedule so we have time to watch all of the episodes again.

I wish we could hear Missy sing with full effort...she sounds like she can really sing if she let go.

Luke ticks me off acting like it's no big deal she's dancing around and singing in front of him....Sam would be all over her.

Ugh that kiss better be on the dvd or something.

Sorry, now I gotta go watch 1x01.

Don't ask me why I did that. I'm tired.

I will always enjoy the intro scene. So unique. The song in that scene became one of my pump up songs. Hopefully I'll eventually do that pump up song thing again.

After he declines the drink offer, he watches her the whole time or turns to watch her multiple times. When she starts to sit down at the table, you see him in the background watching her.

I liked the intro and the song too.

As for the Pilot - that wasn't the first episode of Rookie Blue that I watched. The first one was the hooker operation. After that I decided to check out the Pilot and I was like 'where is that officer I thought that he likes Andy (Sam)'. And I really laughed on their first encounter. It was somehow funny that line - 'That's a crappy lock'. It wasn't surprise that he's Undercover, because I already knew that he's officer. Things like that happen when you watch random episode before the Pilot.

The locker scene was hilarious. How she watches him taking off his clothes and asks questions about the case. I have to admit I found Sam's frustration justified. I really understood why he was so pissed. Not that this was Andy's fault, but I didn't blame him for acting like this or rejecting her offer.

My first impression for the other rookies:
1. Traci - I liked her from the start. At that point by the way I knew only Enuka and Missy as actors. I knew Missy from Heroes, where she played Candice (and I didn't like Candice there) and Enuka from 24 (and I liked her there). I guess that was the first reason to like Traci. Plus I found it intriguing that she had an on-off affair with detective and she has a kid.

2. Gail - I didn't like her at all. She was too pushy, too eager, too know it all for my tastes. Now she seems better, but she is not my favorite.

3. Dov - I seriously thought that this guy is moron. I mean there is fine line between being funny and being stupid. And I thought that he was the latter. By episode 3, I started liking him. He's just different.

4. Chris - I thought he was some kind of naive and well he is. He is the kind of guy that I want to slap sometimes for being so good.

Hopefully ABC/Global will come out with a summer schedule soon. We have between 13-15 weeks left depending on the NBA finals (once again, the NBA finals are here to make my life miserable) and the sooner we know the date, the sooner we can figure out how many episodes we will need to double up so that we will watch 2.13 the Thursday before 3.01 airs.

So are we doing the rewatch? I remember that I liked in this episode the work dynamic between Sam and Andy.

First of all Sam rules, I could understand him stating clear that he doesn't want to be her TO. It totally fitted in his character at that point. Andy of course was intimidated, that was normal. I liked how Sam felt obligated to take care of that girl and how didn't tell Andy about it. I think that this was the better way. If she knew that she is lying (and the order is actually menu for Chinese food), she might not be that natural in arresting her. After all Andy is not that experienced in lying efficiently.

It was also totally natural for Andy and in her character to try to do the best - and part of this is to follow the rules. The only problem was that Sam has no rules.

That episode also made some contrast between Andy and Sam and the way they work. You remember when Sam told Andy that he doesn't have time to wait for her to figure out what tree she is. Andy usually tends to sympathize with the people involved in her cases. She tries to get to know them and use this information to solve the case. Sam on the other hand is more of action. He doesn't process that much and he tries to be more detached (not that he is cold, he just don't take it that personally).

I liked how they both however we're in the same page, when it comes to protect their partner. Sam tried to protect Andy by telling her that he will deal with this by himself. She protected him by showing up with the USB. I didn't understand how she appeared there, but anyway (meaning I didn't get which how she entered without anyone noticing her).

In the end they already broke some of the ice. Sam realized that Andy is just new, but she has potential to be good cop and partner and Andy realized that Sam actually cares for people and tries to do the right thing. And of course that hand shake and that stare and the offer to take her home. I'm glad that she didn't accept it though, because if that had happened, it would most probably be just a fling. It might complicate the things more instead of resolving them.

Now to the others, although they weren't that interesting. Traci proved that she has good instincts and that's good thing for a cop. Dov as always (in the first episodes) was so eager to work that he asked some stupid questions (funny for us, stupid in real life situation). And Gail screwed him up. So maybe this is how their rival starts. And Chris seems like someone who wants to follow the rules too. Look at how he was surprised that Traci bent a little bit the truth about the witness.
