I always think that they are not worthy my time... But than, I am a really defensive person... Thankfully writing down a reply always forces you to think about thins more thoroughly! |

I was thinking: what about when you read stories that have been posted a while ago? Do you review them? Each chapter like you would do with a fic that is a work in progress? Or you just don't bother? And from a writer point of view how would you feel about a review on one of you stories that has been completed a couple of weeks/months ago? |

When I read stories that have been posted a while ago, it depends on the writer and the amount of reviews already received. Sometimes I'll review each chapter but most of the time I only review the last chapter and try to cover a little bit from each chapter that I liked. That said, it also depends if I read it and just didn't review or if I am first reading it. From a writer perspective, I like it. It makes me smile to see that we have more people reading the board. I try to respond to the reviews (although lately I've been really bad so they are still sitting in my inbox waiting for me to respond) and just let them know that I appreciate that they took the time out to review. |

I like to review stories that have been finished because sometimes those authors aren't expecting anything else from it, and it brightens their day considerably. Sundown was the first RB fic I read and every time I go back to it, I take the time to review it, because I know how much it means to the author. |

Thanks for your opinions, I was thinking it's still ok to review even if the story was finished a while ago |

I generally only review on the last chapter if it's an older fic, but I should try to do each chapter... I'm sure authors would appreciate it! |

I tend to review a whole story at once if it's an older story... Or like now, I'm reading all Cythy's fics. So'll just send her a PM after I've read all of them. |

I love hearing reviews even on older stories and I would be fine with an end of story review rather than each chapter. It's the fact that you read the whole thing and took the time to review that matters. |

Can I go because some of my earlier stories were not so great. I have a binder full of my stuff that I went through the other day when I couldn't access the internet and it is a little embarrassing. As for what ilovesandy said - totally true. Just the fact that you take the time to review really is a nice thing to do and will normally put a big on the author's face.

I agree with everyone. Reviews are great no matter when they come. Since I did the whole delayed gratification thing staying away from FF.net while s2 was airing, I'm gonna face this with a lot of stories. I think I'll probably do a happy medium with the ones that are >5 chapters, reviewing a few at a time, rather than only doing one at the end. BTW, about responding, it never even occurred to me to do it when I wrote my first story. (it struck me as maybe putting an extra obligation on them to answer back a 2nd time or something I guess) Then when I started getting replies to my reviews, I started thinking of it in terms of a thank you for taking time to review. So in my later ones I tried to reply to most of them. |

I review the stories that I like, whether it's the set-up, the characterizations or something else. I like to tell whoever wrote it what I did like about it and I don't really care how old the story is. Usually I try to review each chapter, but if the story really grabs me I sometimes get too into it to stop and review in between chapters From a writer's perspective, I love getting reviews on my old stories, doesn't matter if it's the whole story or all of the chapters. That being said, getting individual reviews for every chapter is a lot more helpful if the reviews are thorough ones because it really points out what they liked and what you're good at

I know this topic seems to have closed, but I was wondering what people do in regards to reviewing fics that aren't on ff.net. Is it weird to review stuff on Livejournal anonymously if we don't have accounts there? Or wherever else there is good Rookie Blue fic to be found!

I think if you have the chance/ability to review on other sites, you should. Even if it's just a short note. Authors really appreciate it. |

I think you should review it. I do that even on ff.net - on principle I "don't" review M because someone else has access to my account and they think I don't know about certain M material stuff so I review those stories anonymously. |

I think reviewing anonymously is totally fine, and I know the authors on LJ love to hear the comments :) |

Thanks! I was just wondering because I was looking over the weekend for fic and I saw that on http://archiveofourown.org/tags/Rookie%20Blue/works there are some stories up but almost no reviews. So I was confused if it and LJ worked differently than fanfic.net. I will definitely go back and do that now :) |

Question for those of you who are authors - if you get a negative review that was done anonymously, do you erase it or just leave it? I got a review that actually made me laugh but I don't know if I should just leave it or erase it. Thanks |

I feel like a child for it, but I delete it, simply because I tend to reread the negative ones more than the positive ones and it drags me down. |

I guess it depends on what the review says. If it is simply a correction or a matter of opinion I would leave it cuz no one would really think badly of my story in that case. But if it were offensive or rude definitely delete it. Doesn't help you or the other readers in that case. |
