'Undercover Fraternization' by BabyBrown - Sam/Gail conversation

http://www.fanfiction.net/s/8321658/1/Undercover_Fraternization

This gave me some good laughs :)
loved her characterizations of both Gail and Sam!

BTW, another of BabyBrown's stories is nominated in the "Best Group Fic" category for the Rookie Choice Awards - using this as a reminder that the voting closes tonight!

And it looks like you don't have to "tick off the hooks" (I can't come up with how you're supposed to say it, so hopefully you'll get it) if you don't want to follow the author and story anymore when you review.
ABOUT TIME!!! Considering how many comments were made on their blog about discontent over the last few days, I'm happy they changed it.

Not loving all the new sorting features but I guess I'll get used to it eventually (and then they'll probably change it again)

We'd just say opt out of the check boxes. I'm SO glad they changed that default! I'm sure they thought they were helping authors, but it actually turn off the people who are the most frequent visitors to their site.

ETA: I'm actually pumped about the new sorting options! I was just thinking yesterday that I wished they would add sorting by number of hits/visitors and reviews so you could easily get to the most popular fics.

Thank you for clearing that up for me, I knew "tick off the hooks" was wrong :haha:

I agree with you, I'm diggin' the new sorting options too, something I've been missing on that page. :)

The problem with sorting by reviews is that the amazing one-shots tend to get lost in the mix

True. But favorites could theoretically put great old one shots on the first page.

hmm...I guess yes, theoretically...
but if you don't really get into a story until like the fifth chapter, the oneshots don't have a prayer...

The nice thing is that they are actually reading what people post on the blog - I asked if there is any way to have the "average reviews" (meaning reviews divided by the number of chapters) - many of the top stories on the rookie blue page will still stay because there were a ton of reviews per chapter but it will also give a chance for the one-shots to be noticed.

Yes, on the FF.net blog someone had suggested these sort options and I have to admit, it was something I had been thinking for years. I was always surprised when I remembered that they didn't have sorting by reviews. That said, I was always - on the other hand - kind of glad, for this exact reason. And because a high number of reviews does not necessarily equal a good fic. I worry the more underrated fics will remain just that.

On the blog, someone replied to that first person, sharing concerns like mine. I understood both arguments, and suggested that FF.net only allow the favourites or reviews sorting to show the top ten or twenty for each section. That way, people would be forced to venture further, but would be able to read the 'most popular' fics (I suppose you could say) first - such as when starting to read in a new fandom, or just wanting to check if there any big ones you missed. Of course, this would need refinement and consideration, but I guess I just think it's sad for someone to be on the very last page! Or for good stories to be overlooked.

That's actually a pretty good, simple metric that could be easily done.

Hawley, which fic was it where they eloped during suspension (Andy put her ring on when Sam was in the hosp, saying she was his wife)?
