I am just wondering how many mods we have and wondering if we need a few more. Just because lately there has been a bit of tension, mainly stemming from the leaked episodes. I have seen a few posts that have potentially caused upset, and it is a bit tricky when there is not a moderator around. I understand the moderators all have lives and having been one myself on a different forum some years ago, it can be hard work. I don't expect them to be online 24/7 and go through every thread, every hour, of every day! But as the board is getting more members, I was just wondering if the number of moderators should increase, too.

Just a thought.

Hm I guess it depends on the majority of posters here. Maybe if there is no mod from Europe and there are a lot of people from Europe that post, then I guess some mod from Europe might take this responsibility and might be helpful. I don't know if we are that much from Europe though.

I still think that there are enough mods here. It's just right now it's summer and some people have vacations and trips. Others have some exams and such things to take care of. It's totally understandable. On the other hand though summer is the time when it's posted here a lot since the show is summer show.

I can't complain about the leaking clips issue since I was on a trip during this story. When I came back I found out that there are spoilers and since I didn't want to be spoiled I don't even read in the Spoilers section.

I think that the mods here are doing great job. After all they are only human beings. I'm a mod in other forum and I know what responsibility is this and I always respect them, because they deserve it.

I agree that they do a great job, I am not meaning to imply they don't. As I said, I understand that the mods can't be here 24/7. I understand the work that goes into it, having been a mod for many years on the then-biggest One Tree Hill forum, OTH Writers 911. I simply meant that a couple more mods - as more members join - might lessen the load that will possibly only get greater. :dunno:

There seems to be a lot of activity on this board in the summer while the show is airing. I don't know what it's like during the other 9 months of the year, but I'm guessing it's pretty dead around here. And you don't have spoilers to deal with, which seems to really be the biggest issue.

What if there were maybe 1-2 additional mods for just the summer? Like have them start 2 weeks before the first episode airs (I'm talking about S4) and then they can stop after the season finale?

The mods here are doing an amazing job, but to me it seems like a lot of stress and responsibility. Actually, maybe they should decide if they want the extra help or if they are ok with how it is now. The recent spoiler issues really were just a fluke.

I know ;) it wasn't a reply to you just in general  and I agree with you, maybe a European mod would be a good idea, especially if this board gets busier :D

It's not dead when the show is not airing, we just talk A LOT about the past season and also other things. We also talk about the filming since we always manage to find info or pictures, or the cast tweets pictures and info. After all, I joined right at the end of S2 and I got to 4,000 posts before S3 promotion began :p

Mods are doing a great work as I already said but I also had the thought that there could maybe be a European one, just to cover them while they're not on :)

I didn't say that you don't think so. I just think that in our attempt to think about them and ease their work, we forgot to stress that we don't in any case think that they don't do their job  .

As for the board activity when it's hiatus, I don't think that it's dead. I joined in February and while I can say that now it's busier, I can't say that there were no posts back then.

Personally, I think it would be a great idea to add at least one more moderator. There may be some things happening IRL that could mean I'll have to dial back the amount of time I spend here, even when I'm not out of town. So, it will be good to plan ahead in case that happens anyway. As Mara pointed out, we have a lot more members now, along with having all these weird spoiler situations. So it's really become a little much for two people plus Kiren anyway. The only thing to keep in mind is how many to add because disagreements among moderators can become an issue too if you get too many tasked with handling this stuff. Just my two cents.

Of course, the decision to add one or more mods is entirely up to you and Kiren and you're the ones that know best who to add to your team that won't cause inconvenience.

Maybe (if Kiren agrees to such idea of course) you could give some time for mods application and then you and Cythy could choose the mods (together with Kiren). This way you will have the possibility to choose someone that you assume that you could get along to and you won't have huge disagreements with them.

Actually, what I was thinking is of adding a "forum moderator". Our biggest issues tend to take place in the spoiler spot and Kiren can add a moderator who will only have moderation capabilities in that thread.

Thanks LA. Glad you didn't take this as me implying anything negative. You guys do a great job and we all really appreciate it. As Nathy says, it's totally up to you guys. Yes, I think you don't want too many mods because, as you said, this can cause problems too. On the forum I used to mod, they had levels of moderators. Mods and Super Mods. The supers were in charge and that seemed to work quite well. They also divided up the sections, so each mod was in charge of a particular area - so there wasn't conflict and so that each section got covered. General behaviour etc could be monitored loosely by all mods, but the finer details of each section were the job of the respective moderator. Again, these are just suggestions / ideas. :D

I don't read in the Speculation section, so I didn't even know about the drama, but this means that someone contained it and took care of the situation.

So props to the mods!
