    Ok so, I've noticed some people been DLing mIRC recently and I've had to help each person get it how they want etc, so why not make a guide so I don't have to say it again [=. Also not as many people use IRC as I reckon they should, cos it's hella useful and i think you'd like it ;}.
    And we all know SwiftIRC is way too basic lol, you might see mIRC complicated at first but it's awesome trust.

    Ok. You're gonna want to download it first obv Posted Image So download it Here[=

    The first screen you should see is Options (Alt+O)
    Posted Image
    Enter a nickname you want to use if you haven't used IRC before, or if you have, enter your registered nickname. Leave alternative blank that's just me yo.

    Next click "Servers" scroll down to "SwiftIRC" Folder open it and edit the server inside to match this.
    Posted Image

    Put all these options then click perform and put your own stuff example: /ns id password /join #chan
    etc ^ so you auto identify.

    Just copy these options for the next set of setup moves.

    ^ Here on perform, you're setting up auto identify.

    Now, for this one, you may want to just pm me on IRC for my timestamp code cos it's REALLY long and would take you probably a bit too long to make yourself and it doesn't all fit on here. And to enable the timestamp if you can't do it like that, when I give you the code or you have a different code, use /timestamp -f [timestamp here] <- Then you'll want to right click every channel and turn Timestamp on, it'll then stay default on for that channel 4va'z. Done.

    K, pretty much done for now on setup so lets make mIRC nice cos it's standard reform is ugly as fuck and mines pwitty u no. p.s you'll have to do the font three times, one for status window, one for channels and one for queries, takes a minute #calm_down.

    First let's change dat font. You're gonna want to go into the window that says SwiftIRC { nickname }. E.g your status window
    Posted Image

    Now, hit view at the top and go to "Font"

    Posted Image
    That's what I tend to use

    Next go into any channel ( Fonts will apply for all channel's you don't have to do this more than once for channels! ). View -> Font again, just repeat what you just did basically.
    This time click "Set as default for channel windows" and "Use default".

    Now to change colours [=. (Alt+K)

    Posted Image

    I'm aware Nico has downs and couldnt change the background colour cos he's a fkin derp. All you do is "click" the background anywhere that's not the text ok?????? Then click Ok when you're done.

    Now to turn @Ops red and %Halfops orange and +Voices blue.

    Hit Alt+B

    Posted Image

    This will appear, just add then and this is what they should be like

    Op : Posted Image

    Halfop : Posted Image

    Voice : Posted Image

    Normal User : Posted Image

    The end result: Posted Image

    Now, what 90% of people use mIRC for, SCRIPTS!???? [=. I'll share some of my scripts to get you by/Have an understanding, You can fuck off your not all having my war script and masshl's though ;).

    First off, don't do a kevin and put them all in the same remote though r0fl.

    To access your scripts editor, Alt+R. You'll auto be on the "Remote" tab which is where you input yo scripts.

    REMEMBER= EVERYTIME YOU GET A SCRIPT, PUT IT INTO A NEW REMOTE BY FILE -> NEW. AND MAKE SURE YOU SAVE YOUR SCRIPTS WITH A NAME YOU KNOW IT BY, COS YOU'LL STOCK UP OVER TIME.

    Posted Image

    Ok,
    Code:

    on *:input:*: { if ($1 == .gone) {
    set %away.ctime $ctime
    set %away $2-
    nick Zulu`Gone
    /amsg 14[4¤¤¤ 14I am now away. 14Reason3: %away $+ . 14I left at3 $time 4¤¤¤14].
    }
    if ($1 == .back) {
    nick Zulu`
    /amsg 14[4¤¤¤ 14I am now back from3: %away $+ . 14I was away for3 $duration($calc($ctime - %away.ctime)) 4¤¤¤14].
    }

    That one is an away script edit the "nick Zulu`Gone" and "nick Zulu`" to your away nickname, and your normal nickname, don't do a kevin.

    Basically, to work that you do in any channel ".gone [reason]" and it'll amsg like this. and to come off it use ".back"

    Posted Image

    This is how i amsg, instead of the gay /amsg.

    Code:

    alias global { amsg $1- 7[8»4G3l4ø3b4a3l8«7]
    }

    To use that, /global [message]
    What it does is send the same message to every channel you're in.

    This lets you invite a bot like RuneScript, or a person into the channel.

    Code:

    on *:input:#: {
    if ($1 == .inv ) { invite $2 $chan }
    }

    This lets you do +m -m in channels if you're an operator for that channel to set modes etc, or +v someone (voice them) you just say the mode in the channel e.g "+v Zulu`" would voice me if i'm a normal user.
    P.s much simpler that Lvl 09 Range's. #Own

    Code:

    on *:input:#: {
    if ($left($1,1) == +) || ($left($1,1) == -) {
    $iif($remove($1,-,+) isalpha,mode $chan $strip($eval($1-,2)))
    }
    }

    This is just a hug script, to use /huggle [nick], for future reference, if a script starts with "alias" then for example huggle {, it basically means to function the script use /[word-after-alias].

    Code:

    alias huggle {
    /msg $chan 8h9u7g11g13l2e4s 6& 8s9n7u11g13g8l4e12s 13 $1
    }

    K well hopefully that's enough for now, as you can see I have way more if you want ;]

    Posted Image

    So ya, hopefully you like mIRC. the finishing touch should look similar to this, you can always edit though =).

    Wouldn't it be better to make a SwiftKit guide? People are more likely to use that over mIRC as SwiftKit is more scape related

    Swiftkit uses SwiftIRC, just like mIRC uses SwiftIRC, if you read my instructions properly and chose SwiftIRC as the server

    I know but mIRC can be used for different servers etc, whereas SwiftKit is designed for SwiftIRC

    mIRC is designed for any server you want, hence there's a massive list. You can't really compare Swiftkit IRC with mIRC it's too basic

    Exactly, with SwiftKit being more basic it will ease people into using the whole IRC component and then they can think about using a more advance way of using it, just saying that you got to ease people into this kind of stuff because if I never used mIRC before this post, I'd be pretty mindfucked right now
