1. A lycan can only infect a non-lycan through an exchange of blood. It cannot occur by touch or the exchange of fluids. Also, only a human may become a lycan and upon changing loses any magics they may have had. The bite must be savage and intentional. One does not become infected from a minor nip. 2. A lycan can become a vampire, but a vampire cannot become lycan. Once a lycan is changed they are no longer a lycan and cannot be affected by the lycanthrope disease any longer. 3. A lycan can be born as a lycan. If two lycans mate their child will be a lycan, if they are of different types it is 50/50 that it will be whichever one parent is, as the other. They won't be a cross-breed, such as half-lion/half-bear. Humans who have children with a lycan will have human children except in some very rare cases. 4. A lycan is immortal so long as his fate is left to nature. 5. After so long, usually a few months, they can control their actions and think freely when changed. Some can even turn to and from their lycan forms at will between the full moons. With practice and concentration it is possible to effect partial transformations. 6. They have no choice as to whether or not they turn upon a full moon. 7. Lycans can -only- be large cats (Tigers, Lions, Cheetahs, etc), bears, wolves, or rats. 8. Like vampires, a lycan grows stronger as it gets older. The Packs Each pack is led by an Alpha, and is always the strongest of the pack. Unlike vampire covenants, the Alpha of a pack is almost always a male. The Alpha Female generally gaining her position because of the closeness shared by with the Alpha male. Most lycans seek out a pack as a means of protection and friendship, a lone lycan is very vulnerable in the world as it is very unforgiving to their kind. Over-time they become very much like a tight-nit family, watching out for one another and not yielding to most who would threaten a member of their pack. A lone lycan can usually find a friend in a nearly any pack, about the only exception to this is if they belong to another pack that is bitter enemies with the one they happen across. |
