Role Play Sample:

(( It's a bit longer than 1000 characters (1400 or so), sorry D: It's my favourite piece and I love it and it's fairly recent and don't hate me? <3 ))

Riku stood away from Cloud, his breath fast in his throat. Hair skewed across his face. Chest rose and fell rapidly as he clenched Brotherhood in his hands, the weapon gleaming in the dewy morning sun.

Cloud's sword was pointed at him, and he launched forwards.

They did this a few times a week, early in the morning when no one was up. They battled, practicing, giving each other tips and tricks on how to take advantage of the other. Cloud trained in the mornings, Leon in the evenings. Cloud was a tougher battle, his movements were flawless. Riku's own moves were pretty dead-on. Having trained and battled for a year without his eyesight gave him an advantage once he could finally see again. Half the time he didn't use his vision, only his senses. Hearing, touch, smell, taste. He could almost taste how near his opponent was, he could almost smell their sweat and the heat of battle. Hear their next move before they planned it. Touching the ground would tell him how they were standing.

That was one thing Cloud and Leon couldn't do.

."Put on the blindfold" Cloud stated from where he stood, standing casually, tip of the sword wedged against the ground. Riku obeyed orders, untying the long black cloth from his wrist and replacing it around his eyes.

Faced with the darkness of the fabric, Riku's senses kicked into view and he felt Cloud moving towards him, and hopped safely out of the way, countering skillfully. Using Brotherhood was different, he needed to get used to the weight and the power behind it. Just like Sora's keyblade and his own Way to Dawn could use a number of abilities - this one could too. He was still learning how to use this one, but he was getting the hang of it slowly.

As he battled, his thoughts wandered as he returned to the muscle memory of battle. Back to the Islands, back to Sora and Kairi. The fuzzy memories of just the two of them on the beach. That night a boy with dark hair came to the islands, those deep blue eyes were the only thing he remembered. Not his name, his face had clouded. But he remembered those big blue eyes staring down at him, the keyblade he held in his hands, the offer, his own small palm pressing to the cold metal of the key. He wouldn't forget those eyes.

Or her voice. It was soft, like honey. It was sweet and kind, she made Riku's best friend promise to never let him go astray, and if he did, to follow him and protect him. Though he was sure that her eyes were the same deep blue as his, Riku could only recall her voice and a fuzzy and faded image of her face and pale blue hair in the evening light.

Those longs nights when Riku was only a child, after the two strangers arrived to change their lives, when his parents split up. Sitting with Sora under the stars on their play island, holding in his agony at the divorce until Sora placed a hand on his shoulder. That broke him, and he told Sora what was wrong.

Back then, things had been simple. He had Sora as his best friend and they did everything together. School, playing on their island, staying at each others houses every night. They were together, competing, racing, challenging each other to be the best, see who could come out on top each time. Even with these whispers of a darker future, all that mattered was that they were happy now.

Riku was strong, he didn't let Sora beat him down very often. Here and there, he'd let Sora have a victory he could gloat over. And there were still times that Sora actually beat him. He didn't know how even they were back then, Riku had always expected that he was stronger.

Everything changed the day Kairi arrived.

The girl arrived one hot summer morning, they spotted her clenching the finger of the mayor as he adopted her and took her to the clothing store. Sora had been interested, he wanted to go talk to her. Riku only grabbed Sora's sleeve and tugged him along. Telling him that there was something they had to do.

Their secret place was theirs. They would steal chalk from school (Or Riku did, Sora was too worried about being caught) and draw on the walls. Sit there for hours, making up stories on the walls, creating their own worlds. Laughing, joking, talking. Strange castles and dragons that destroyed everything. Riku was always the 'bad guy' in their stories, Sora always had his hero with such fancy weapons. Riku would later learn just how fancy those weapons could get.

When Kairi arrived, and befriended Sora one day when Riku had gone school shopping with his mother, he took her to their secret spot. There, they drew drawings of each other. Later that day, he went into the spot in hopes of continuing their story. Instead, he found etched in drawings rather than the dusty chalk that he and Sora had their earlier. He clenched his teeth together and hit the stone, crying out. How dare he!? Annoyed, he knelt on the dirt with his forehead pressed hard against the cool stone. This was.. their spot. They had agreed not to tell anyone about this, not even their parents. But Sora had brought Kairi in here? He felt his hands clenching harder and harder and he wanted to hurt something. Namely Sora for betraying him.

There was a voice echoing from the door. It was soft, sweet, almost. An alluring tone that made him lift his heavy head from the wall, looking over at the door. What was beyond it? The voice started again.

What are you doing here, Riku? Riku rose, hands clenched and bruised from hitting the stone.
What do you mean?" He asked, voice trembling.
You know as well as I that you don't belong here. This place is a prison.
Riku stared, wide eyed. The voice spoke so slowly, so smoothly. It drew him forwards, towards the door. A strange taste in his mouth. "W-what do you mean?" He asked, the child looking concerned.
You're better than this. The voice started again.Do you belong here? There are so many other worlds out there, why are you here?
."Other worlds?" Riku asked, looking around, trying to find the location of this voice. "What do you mean, 'other worlds'?
Do you really think that this is all that there ever was?

A voice came from outside, calling his name. Air rushed through the cave and the voice was gone. "Other... worlds?" He asked softly, staring up at the rays of dusty light coming in through the rocky cracks in the ceiling. Was that.. possible?

Sora found Riku, grabbing his shirt and tugging him like a little boy. Riku felt older now, a strange voice had spoken to him, and he knew that he hadn't imagined it. But was what that voice said.. true? He walked outside, Kairi was standing ankle deep in the water. Sora led him to her, and they beamed at him. Asking him if he was okay. Riku only turned away from them, climbing onto the roof of their seaside shack and across the wooden bridge to the small piece of rock and sand that grew a long tree. He leaned against it, staring out over the distance. Were there any other worlds out there? How could he get to them? As he sat there, those words rang so.. true. This place was a prison, his own personal prison that trapped him on all sides by water.

In the days that followed, he asked Kairi where she had come from. But it seemed.. that she had come from another world. She claimed she didn't remember, but she had to have come from somewhere, right? No one just washed up on the ocean on a whim. That's where it started. Riku wanted to leave, it wasn't hard to get Sora on board, Kairi took a bit more convincing.

Each summer passed, each year he couldn't get the two of them to get their butts in gear and start working.

Cloud hit him hard in the stomach, he coughed and fell to his knees. Brotherhood clattering to the cement. He choked with one palm on the ground. "Pay more attention" Cloud stated. "I'd have won". With that, the blonde turned and walked away, shouldering his own sword. Riku tugged the blindfold from his face, watching the male leave.

The Genres:

Usually Kingdom Hearts.
But modern, other fandoms (Tsubasa?<3) and modern-esque stuff works. If it's not KH, then I pretty much prefer slash over straight pairings. That, and I don't have any straight characters~
