| Welcome to The United Literates, or TUL! We hope you enjoy your visit! We're an all-genre, all-literate forum on the Zathyrus Networks, and we'd love to have you join! Our roleplays range from the fun to the mature, and are all member-run and created; they extend from Fictional roleplays set in the past and future, to Real-Life and Fan-Fiction categories. In addition to roleplays, TUL also has a vibrant community of artists and writers, featured in The Cafe section of the website, who also love to do things out of character through our Lounge area. Right now, you're viewing the forum as a guest, which means you only have limited access to the board and its features. OOC Information Name: Lindsey (Call me Lin) Gender: Female Who were you referred by? What site were you referred from?: I was a member of Old TUL. Age: 16, yay Contact: crazi_nessa@yahoo.com Role Playing Experience: 5-odd years under my belt, 3 at TUL specifically. IC Information Role Play Sample: Sir Tristan Cox was riding. Had been riding. Riding for hours. He had mounted his valiant steed as soon as he heard the news of the trapped Princess Juliet. Ever since leaving the wretched time of squire-hood behind him, Tristan had failed time and time again to fulfill the expectations of his fellow knights and Lord Eisenwall. He had accidentally dropped a damsel in distress into the sea in a routine sacrifice save, burnt a walled city to the ground in an attempt to rid them of a non-firebreathing dragon, and gotten one of the most respected knights of Lord Eisenwall's employ eaten by a sphinx. And so, the last remaining assignment was to rescue the princess of a faraway kingdom, a woman trapped in a cursed tower. There were no dragons, no vengeful lords, no evil spirits- just an in-and-out rescue and escape. Foolproof. Sir Cox was by no means a fool, but he was definitely naive. Naive enough not to know that this was only the first step in a complicated scheme of Eisenwall's to stir up a political conflict- and a war- that would shake the very foundations of what he knew. But he did not know any of this. All he knew now was that this desert was hot, and the tower was close. Very close. In fact, he nearly rode into it, the enchantments on the tower being such that it was invisible until the observer was only a few feet away. Tristan pulled his steed to a lurching stop, righting his helmet and looking up at the imposing figure the tower cut. He had to climb that. Right, screw that. The only thing that had gotten Tristan through his time as a squire was his technical skill. He had created many gadgets and systems which had simplified the work of the knights. One of these inventions was the grappling hook gun, which could launch a grappling hook much farther than a knight could spin and hurl it. Tristan stepped back to shoot the gun, and the tower disappeared from view. He frowned, stepped forward, pointed the gun, and shook his head. He paced a few times, staring up at the tiny window that was his target. Keeping his eyes fixed on the window, he slowly backed away, aiming the gun even as the tower faded away. He squeezed the trigger, and with a buck and a squeal, the grappling hook flew through the air, connecting with something and disappearing. He tugged on the rope, once, and walked forward until the tower was visible again. The knight was thoroughly exhausted when he flopped through the window, crashing into a tall candleholder and scrabbling to right it but not before the flame licked the window's curtain and caught fire. Making a strangled sound through his closed helmet, he looked around frantically, picking up the vessel he saw, an exquisite vase. He dumped the contents onto the curtains. The contents just happened to be alcohol based perfume. The flame roared up again, and he wailed frantically, picking up a pillow from the canopied bed and beat at the flames hysterically until the curtains were naught but charred shreds of fabric. He dropped the ruined silk pillow and stepped back, lifting up his visor to examine the damage- before remembering why he came here. He spun around swiftly, spying the figure of the princess sitting on the chair. He took off his helmet and smiled. Tristan was a rather handsome knight, with blue-gray eyes that stood out from his lightly tanned face, and dark chestnut hair that fell in cascading curls around his face. "My lady," he said breathlessly, sweeping into a bow and accidentally dropping his helmet with a loud clang. He blushed hotly and scrambled to grab it, straightening and clearing his throat. "My lady," he started over. "I release you from your prison, and pledge to you my eternal service and love." He stood blankly for a moment before remembering what came next, and stumbled forward, kissing the princess lightly on the lips and smiling. "Come, Princess Juliet, let us away." The Genres: Uh. Anything? |
