Welcome to The United Literates, or TUL! We hope you enjoy your visit!

We're an all-genre, all-literate forum on the Zathyrus Networks, and we'd love to have you join! Our roleplays range from the fun to the mature, and are all member-run and created; they extend from Fictional roleplays set in the past and future, to Real-Life and Fan-Fiction categories. In addition to roleplays, TUL also has a vibrant community of artists and writers, featured in The Cafe section of the website, who also love to do things out of character through our Lounge area.

Right now, you're viewing the forum as a guest, which means you only have limited access to the board and its features. To join TUL and start roleplaying with us, all you have to do is click the link below, register, and pass through our brief application process. So what are you waiting for?

IC Information

Role Play Sample: Ian smirked as Sophia reluctantly shifted forward to join him, then pushed open the door of the inn. Because of the early hour, it was deserted except for the innkeeper and a young, tired-looking couple huddling close to the fireplace. With one quick glance at his companion, Ian crossed the distance between the door and the little bar, sat down, and ordered two drinks before Sophia joined him.
“Thanks,” he told the bartender as he brought them two slender glasses filled with a dark liquid. He slipped two coins onto the table, ignoring the bartender’s suspicious glare.
“So, why exactly are you doing this?” Sophia inquired, taking a cautious sip from her glass. A bit of color returned to her cheeks as she swallowed.
“Doing what? Buying you a drink?” Ian retorted, grinning as he took a long mouthful from his own glass. “I notice that people tend to crave one after nearly being killed,” he told her sarcastically.
“Very funny,” she snapped back. “I mean, why are you protecting me? You’re...you’re supposed to be one of them.”
Ian was quiet, taking a few more sips from his glass while he scanned the room, avoiding her eyes. She wouldn’t trust him unless he told her why he was helping her, but even he wasn’t quite sure why.
“Ian?” she prodded, saying his name for the first time.
He sighed. Looks like there’s no way out of this, he thought wistfully.
“Alright, alright, I’ll tell you,” he said, lowering his voice so that only she could hear. The couple had moved away from the fire and were starting to head upstairs, and the bartender had gone to tend to the fire in their place. “But you have to promise not to interrupt.”
She raised an eyebrow at him, looking amused. After drinking some more of her drink, Sophia nodded, betraying just a hint of a smile.
“Alright, then. As you probably know already,” he started, throwing one quick glance at the bartender behind them and lowering his voice even more, “I’m a...a vampire. You know them as demons who kill people and suck their blood, monsters who don’t deserve to live. And I don’t disagree,” he said bitterly, turning away with a scowl. “All I’m saying is that I’m not like...others of my kind. I don’t kill if I can avoid it, and I try to protect people by killing others that would do them harm. Sort of like you.
“I’m helping you because...because it feels good, actually. I feel like a bit less of a monster that way.” With a sigh, Ian drained the rest of his glass, grateful for the warm feeling that spread through him and clouded his thoughts a little. “So,” he said, turning back to Sophia, “now it’s your turn. How does someone so young become a hunter?”
