| Welcome to The United Literates, or TUL! We hope you enjoy your visit! We're an all-genre, all-literate forum on the Zathyrus Networks, and we'd love to have you join! Our roleplays range from the fun to the mature, and are all member-run and created; they extend from Fictional roleplays set in the past and future, to Real-Life and Fan-Fiction categories. In addition to roleplays, TUL also has a vibrant community of artists and writers, featured in The Cafe section of the website, who also love to do things out of character through our Lounge area. Right now, you're viewing the forum as a guest, which means you only have limited access to the board and its features. To join TUL and start roleplaying with us, all you have to do is click the link below, register, and pass through our brief application process. So what are you waiting for? Welcome to TUL! Register today! Once you've created an account, please head to The Application Center and follow the instructions to become a full member. OOC Information Name: Chesha. I used to kick about these parts a looong while ago, not sure if I'll be remembered. Gender: Fembot. Who were you referred by? What site were you referred from?: No referral, simply aching to get into a writing community again. Age: 18 Contact: I have MSN and AIM, I prefer the latter. Email is also acceptable. I will take messenger pigeons, smoke-signals and horse heads as well. All of this, of course, with fair warning and exchange by private message please. Role Playing Experience: Lol, absolutely no clue. I started between eight to ten years ago, I feel that it's closer to ten. (Yes, that would make me eight or ten years old at the time I started. I feel it's correct, I might be wrong.) IC Information Role Play Sample: "Hello ba-aby," the large man cooed, tickling her pale, slender chest with one large finger. He stood there for the longest, cradling the baby girl in one arm, coddling and crooning with the best of them as she stared at him with fascination, eyes wide and bright. She wasn't confused, but rather curious, entertained by his crooked nose and the way his voice whistled through his missing front tooth, fascinated with how his hair, parted and greased into a smart ducktail, shone in the low light of the tent and the scar under his eye crinkled when he smiled. "Her name is Gretchen," the young mother supplied, hands nervously folding and unfolding in her lap as her nurse placed a heavy, worn hand on her shoulder to suggest she shush. Gaer did look up, a small frown formed between his brows as he studied her, hugging the baby to his chest protectively, having already laid claim. The woman that'd given birth to the child was but a waif, her hair long and dark, curling about her shoulders. She peered up at him with docile, if not a bit fearful, eyes and gnawed her lower lip. Her hands fluttered again in her lap and she dropped her gaze, staring now at his feet. She was hardly a woman, maybe only thirteen, and he found himself touched with anger that someone would defile the doe-like creature before him in such a way. Her way was a bad one, having been abandoned by all but the old nurse that loomed over her shoulder during her pregnancy, rejected by her father's house until the child had disappeared. Again he looked down at the bundle in his arms, pursing his lips and lightly rocking her. "What if I didn't take her?" His voice was soft and serious as he peered through his eyebrows at the two women a moment before petting the infant's cheek with the pad of his thumb. The look that he received from the midwife was one of steely resolve, and the girl's face he could not make out through the snarl of her hair. In all likelihood she would be left somewhere wild and secluded to be taken by the beasts as either food or slave, depending on how cruel the sort of creature that wandered upon her happened to be. If she were fortunate, the elements would be her undoing, or perhaps some swift sort of death brought on by defect… But as his thoughts grew more and more grim, he winced and nuzzled his face into the wispy black fluff that covered her scalp, hugging her gently to his chest. "No worries about that," Gaer assured them both, wrapping the warm blanket up around the babe, cradling her to his chest. "I'll take good care of her." His promise was as good as a bullet to the women, his words practically meaningless. 'Good care' could mean he'd groom her to be a whore or a wife, but 'good care' would have to do. Still, the mother gave a soft whimper and her hands interlaced, knuckles white and muscles taut as she struggled with her own internal battle. "Thank you." Her voice was soft and broken, the sort of sound that touched him and made him grieve with her a little, gently swaying with the child in his arms. Somehow, despite the favor he was doing this girl and her baby, he felt the need to apologize, and did so hurriedly before ducking out of the tent and into the cool night as the nurse stared past him, seeing something distant in the fiber of the wool. As he strode towards the coach loaded with goods and men, he considered the name Gretchen, carefully watching where he stepped. The Genres: Medieval and modern fantasy, gritty themes (generally modern, I will run things from other time periods as well), 'punk themes (magic, steam, etc.) and sugarplums. >:3 I can really be tempted to do most anything, I hate playing anything that is explicitly a sweetheart plot. |
