This is a brief roleplay update to let everyone know of a potential issue that may affect us all.

Cimber has returned from Ar as the newly appointed Administrator of Minus (yey) but while in the city he had other business to attend to.

[ 1st.] - Enter an official petition to have the Hundred Spears (the forces wintering in Minus) legitimized as a Mercenary Company. This was done without the knowledge of the Commander of the Hundred Spears or any its members in fact. However, it is believed that unless the Spears (those within Minus anyways) accept the offer Minus may have to turn on the force and expel them. Their presence and their suspected mandate of finding Marlenus leaves Minus vulnerable to Ar's Cosian 'allies' after all. A legitimized mercenary company based out of Minus would also provide a source of added income which at this point is required, but it would also create the impression in Ar that the Spears are not a revolutionary force any longer. Whether that's really the case...well that's up to the men themselves to decide but a new leader and a new 'mandate' will need to be adopted if the Central Cylinder grants official status to the Spears.

[ 2nd. ] - Secure a loan that will see Minus' coffers sustained through the winter. This was a considerable sum and was meant for expenses within the town including the pay for the town guard. At the last moment however it was decided that a letter of credit would not be sufficient and so actual coin was making its way to Minus...something which was suspect right from the beginning.

However, while the petition for legitimizing the Hundred Spears is still before the Central Cylinder the loan was approved and was traveling to Minus as of two nights ago. That is until the shipment was amushed and the coin hijacked.

Meaning someone in Minus either directly or indirectly had a hand in this. Citizens of Minus new and old are ALL suspects even if the Adminstrator will not say as much and the investigation is ongoing.

As an OOC note let it also be known that one or many of you have been framed for the robbery with evidence planted and witnesses bought off. The framed were chosen by a private dice roll. You will eventually be publicly accused and called upon to prove your innocence. With the coming holidays though this will not be something that unfolds immediately but this is just to give everyone a friendly heads up.

Here is the roleplay leading up to the theft for anyone interested in what the hell is going on:

The official investigation thread.

A small number of scribes have been gathered together to form an investigative "unit" which includes men hand picked by the scribes to act as detectives in this case, gathering evidence and speaking to witnesses etc, chasing down leads. We have all seen enough cop shows to know how this works...

This small unit makes its report directly to the Administrator to keep him up to date on the investigation. (So basically he's the tough as nails captain who shouts from across a desk and demands your badge and gun because you've been put on suspension without pay for you're unorthodox methods and actions taken while in the line of fire!..coughs) Here below is an account of the investigation in it's various stages.

This is not public knowledge though this thread is more to keep everyone up to date on clues being gathered...and who the list of potential suspects are and why.

List of suspects so far...

Macrinius Domitian
- Arian ------ or IS he?
- New to Minus arriving on the very day of the hijacking.
- Suspect simply because of his timing.
- No known associates in the town yet.

Markus
- Also new to the town having arrived the day of the hijacking.
- Warrior Caste.
- No known associates in town yet.

The Hundred Spears (in and out of Minus)
- Malik and Surus.
- The Spears have a known history around Minus of having raided and hijacked caravans coming out of Ar and other places with noted Cosian ties in the past.

The Sigurors & Associates
- Edgar, Sevara and Quinevere
- The Magistrate's death is still a matter of concern. While it has been ruled accidental since the Administrator made his report to the Central Cylinder it cannot be ignored that the Builders allowed a critical witness to simply vanish.

Skyhold Company & the Commander
- Astinus and Gregor Kursbane
- They have already come to Minus by way of gold who is to say they did not want more for themselves?
- Motive and means. With tarns at their disposal such men could make a swift clean ambush and retreat with relative ease.

The Ismene's
- Simon and Sabra
- The sister Sabra has close ties to the Siguror's. Simon is noted as being a bit of a belligerent drunk. Gambler as well?

Lady Jaelyn
- While not new to Minus she has only arrived in the past few months.
- Seems to have aspirations for expanding her business. In fact expanded to take over possession of the bath house. Where did she get the funds?

Javon
- Little is known of the men who professes to have forgotten parts of his own history and past.
- Lengthy absences
- Might be a ghost (haha)

Kronos Meridius
- A merchant of some repute and has traveled
- Little is known of him which could be construed as a good thing but also something to be concerned about. What do we really know about this man?

Lady Eveny
- Seemed to have hit a rough patch financially but is now back on her feet, is there a reason for this perhaps?

The Taurus Household
-Reputable merchants on the outside but little is known of them as well. Could they have a hand in this?

Tyrios Herennius
- The guard's paymaster, a man who is in contact with a lot of coin and handling the financial affairs of the town guard. While he seems reputable and honest little is actually known of him. He also has a fondness for drink and paga slaves.

Tacitus
- Unliked by almost all.
- New to town, his arrival also coinciding with the theft.
- Bounty Creditors are a greedy lot and quite tenacious when it is a matter about getting paid. His actions in town support this claim.

Files still coming...
Cyprias the Merchant - villain of the Trevian siege
Cimber - To be kept secret and in a drawer by itself...

Investigation Update:

Surus has presented Cimber with the dagger he found at the scene of the ambush and robbery. He claims it is a northern blade (and there are a few northerners here but that doesn't mean anything -cough-) but does not recognize the weaponsmith's mark on the blade. Cimber has bid Surus to ask around about the blade and its mark, and discover who its maker is and where it came from.

OOC note: Since the men of Minus will be preoccupied with the upcoming Warrior Challenge (some of whom may even be suspects!) it was decided by the RC that the roleplay regarding who was framed should be postponed so the town can focus on the Warrior Challenge which will drawing us out of the home to participate/spectate the fights etc.

However, the investigation is still going on and clues are being gathered. We are all suspects (including Cimber) so understand that our actions in and around the town will be scrutinized by spies and town officials.

Update:

Tyrios has been tasked by the Administrator with questioning various townspeople who may be suspects or witnesses to what went down. Get your stories straight everyone!

He will not be alone either as he has recently enlisted the pirate Mechelan Kain to act as his muscle and back up. If you think you can push this dwarf around and blow him off you are sorely mistaken. haha.

I will try to make the rounds in the coming week as Tyrios to make inquiries and put the heat on some of you. It will be rather impromptu and I won't be making official appointments so I don't want to cramp anyone's roleplay style but if I see you are alone or whatever expect a visit!

While Tyrios has been questioning townsfolk as best he can (you keep having parties and shit! this is hard -whine lol-) Surus the Surly resurfaces in the least likely of places. After being saved by Cimber from the stadium of blades where he and other prisoners were meant to die in a bloody spectacle, the pair have journeyed back to Minus bloodied and battered. Along the way back however Surus has revealed the origins of the blade and it's last known owner...

Edgar Siguror.

Clan Siguror you're goin' down. Someone has framed you (mostly the board dice but still this is serious!) but you don't know it yet. Stay tuned and stay alert everyone! It's going to get messy here real quick.

[After some consideration and seeing how loooooooooong the Warrior Challenge was taking, it was decided we should get this rolling along and wrapped up quickly.]

Tyrios as found the stolen gold after being given a tip from his cousin. Little does he know the tip was not in fact from his cousin but regardless of where the tip came from he has found the gold and has since seen it secured and transported back to the town hall in the original state it was found.

The gold itself looked like it was going to be smuggled out of Minus in separate amounts by the Siguror's to various locations on Gor, including some notably discreet banks. All this would lead to a motive of the Siguror's making a power play of sorts that would see them rise to greater eminence in the Caste of Builders Gor wide. After all what do they want with a rinky dink little town like Minus? Their gazes have been set much higher or so the "prosecution" will assert once this comes to Cimber's attention and action is taken.

Judge, Jury and Executioner time!

says to ALL: Meanwhile, elsewhere in the fields surrounding Minus the dwarf Tyrios, quite unaware of the fact that his private and less scrupulous dealings were being conveyed to the Administrator at this very moment in time, was else wise engaged in a small excursion, a journey to discovery of his own. Receiving a letter he believed to be from his cousin Sextus, Tyrios had enlisted the help of a local peasant to see him taken out into the surrounding area. He would have called on Melechan but the pirate turned 'merchant' was understandably busy with his own private affairs now that he was running the town tavern. Besides, Tyrios was always a little leery of how much he wanted the Karian to know as he always anticipated a double cross on the horizon of their arrangement. There was after all a lot of missing gold simply begging to be found and kept for the taking! The cold naturally bothered him today and most notably targeted the knee he had been complaining of some days ago in the medical building to Lady Cayla. Further irritating his condition was the animal he rode, a stunted tharlarion which still stood many hands over Tyrios. He was not a capable rider at all and his arms ached from having to control the creature as he followed the peasant who rode a rather aged and decrepit looking kaiila. In fact it was rather ugly too but it was all the peasant could afford and was no doubt captured or discovered wandering the wilds, maybe the mount of a mercenary or some ground auxiliary force employed by Treve during the autumn tithe season. In any event both riders made poor time through the fields which were now melting and muddy with the recent warm weather. Such misery would not have been faced and endured if not for the letter which was written plainly in a code Tyrios was familiar with, directing him to extend his search to the north east of the town. This route was taking him closer to the foothills which Tyrios did not enjoy not because he feared outlaws and bandits, but the larls who stalked the territories of the Voltai foothills. With a grunt and a pull upon the rein he continued forth though until before them the outline of a small estate came into view, gray and snow covered except for the blackened and charred areas of the roof and crumbled columns visible along one side of its face indicating damage and disrepair suffered of some kind.

says to ALL: Drawing his unruly mount to a halt Tyrios surveyed the area feeling a distinct dislike for this place despite his cousin's assurances that he had suspicions about this place. The peasant for his part bundled in cloak of patch worked hides and furs sewn together indicated he would not go further with Tyrios, but he would wait. Superstition among the lower castes was not uncommon but Tyrios grew irritable demanding to know just why the peasant would not venture forth but he seemed unwilling to breathe even a word more about the matter for fear it might bring his unspoken fear into being. So with another nudge delivered to the sides of his mount Tyrios carried on by himself to investigate what he believed, and by the wording of his cousins letter, to be be a place where the robbers may have holed up before the ambush. It was a dreadfully late discovery but better than nothing as he hoped perhaps there were traces of evidence which might point toward the identity of the men. Maybe they had been Trevians or Cosian, or simply low born brutes and outlaws brought together by chance and circumstance to pull off what would have been the most rewarding heist of their lives. With one last glance back paid to the peasant Tyrios for all his irritation at that moment was pleased to see the man had done as he indicated…and was waiting. For how long who could say but with another nudge to the animal Tyrios proceeded quickly to the ruins of a villa set against the backdrop of the lightly forested foothills. It was actually a rather scenic area set apart from the town itself giving it a kind of false remoteness even if that was not the case. He understood the appeal immediately despite the close proximity to larl infested foothills and idly considered purchasing the plot for himself for future use.

says to ALL: Breaching the outer courtyard of the villa which was snow and ice covered Tyrios now up close with the structure concluded the damage sustained was recent, most likely from the siege when tarns and aerial assaults had been deployed quite effectively. Halting along side some ruined columns he hope down upon the pile and climbed down them to ground level where he tied off his mount and proceeded alone from this point. He was armed with small sword on his hip but he'd do little damage against a full sized foe if it came to it but looking at the undisturbed blanket of snow he soon surmised there had been no one in the area for sometime. Still he carried on curious if he even had the right place and was soon venturing through the open door where snow had been blown into a small pile leading inside. Dusting himself off once he had proceeded indoors he lifted his gaze to the ceiling where shaft of gray daylight filtered through and snow disturbed by a light wind sprinkled down from above. The abandoned villa boasted colourful muralled walls and mosaic tile floorings and indeed for its current condition it still managed to retain a stately appearance. Lingering in the open foyer and gaging where the safest place to begin his search might be he started to the west wing of the building down a brightly painted hallway with a number of doors leading into a collection of small guest rooms. He searched each which was empty of any furnishings although it was clear critters of some sort had been nesting in the vacant spaces which sent Tyrios quickly out of the rooms and continuing his exploration elsewhere.

says to ALL: On he walked through the grand old building cursing under his breath now and again as his knee ached and throbbed. On occasion he had to stop and rest a moment before the threat of being caught out here under the cover of nightfall prompted him to walk and continue the search. The search for what he did not quite know with any definite understanding but something motivated him to keep going if only to see this inconvenience made worthwhile. He was preparing to give up however when he neared the kitchen area which was as vacant and abandoned as the rest of the rooms until something caught his eye. A strange sloping of the snow that had fallen spoke of the floor being uneven but in a way suggesting a root cellar of some kind. He hated root cellars but…what else where there to do? Finding a ladle left dangling on a rack near the cold black hearth Tyrios turned and began the work of clearing away the snow which amounted to maybe over a foot. It was soft and fluffy and easy to move until the outline of a wooden door was presented. Cleaning the snow and ice from the edges he managed with some ease to finally open the door which opened into blackness which was dispelled by the light now falling through the opened portal. Listening for any movement as even learned dwarves are not above being plagued by fears of boogeymen and things that go bump in the dark he'd eventually descend down the wooden staircase leading into the abyss. It just so happened that once he felt his feet touching the earthen floor that he came to realize it was not so dark and soon spotted a bench nearby where upon it a lantern was left out. It could have been forgotten by the previous occupants but unlike the bench itself the lantern was not dust covered which sent a thrill of excitement and dread through Tyrios causing the hairs on the back of his neck to rise. Frozen a moment with fear and indecision he turned immediately afterward to his right and for the first time came to note the outlines of crates piled upon one another reaching to the cellar's low ceiling. Letting his gaze travel over the crates he became curious enough to draw near forgetting that he might make use of the lantern in his work to discover just what he was looking at. Conveniently after drawing near one of the crates off to the side of the larger pile had a loose lid which upon moving aside revealed packing stuffing and……scrolls? Immediately his heart sank as he reached inside plucking one of the scrolls out which in his mind had hoped would be gold. Arian minted gold…"But that would be too easy you nitwit" He chided himself and began to unroll the scroll plucked from the pile.

(14:26:38 )

[ In Storyteller Mode ]
says to ALL: The scroll he soon realized was a manifest, a list of the items stashed in the different crates he realized and from the list it seemed the items inside were tools of a trade…can you guess which trade? The Builders of course. Each crate was numbered and within this particular crate were their accompanying scrolls acting as a record of everything packed for shipment up north. It was likely something related to caste business and affairs as each caste boasted a large network connecting all the major centers of Gor. It all seemed rather run of the mill until noting the signatures at the end of the parchment which were that of the Sigurors and their scribe. What would the Siguror's need with some half destroyed building for storage purposes when they had a warehouse in the town? Question upon question piled atop the other until with a hunch Tyrios tossing the scroll aside began sifting through the crate throwing the packing straw aside until he felt it. The bottom…however upon pulling his hands back and lifting a leg over the edge of the emptied crate he stomped once, twice a third time until the crackling of the false bottom was heard accompanied by the most glorious clinking of ……. Metal! COIN! GOLD! Excelsior!!! (head back, hands high in triumph!)-….

(14:29:25 )

A member of the room is currently...

[ In Storyteller Mode ]
says to ALL: Tyrios forgetting the ache in his leg proceeded then to climb up other crates which were ripped open their contents consisting of architectural plans, maps, scrolls and surveying instruments likewise cast aside in careless heaps while he stomped out the bottoms of the other crates, discovering more coin. And not just coin but also missives which amounted to carefully worded bribes meant to secure contracts and business abroad. This was the motherload but for all his immediate excitement Tyrios was struck with an excruciatingly vivid fear that all but caused his stomach to seize up as he realized he had set Cimber upon the path to companionship with the Siguror snake! He'd been duped and used…and yet…a niggling of some doubt nagged at him in the back of his thoughts. This was convenient, most convenient almost too much so and yet when all would be totalled, the death of the Magistrate in the Siguror Warehouse, the dagger, the assassination attempt on Cimber which Sevara JUST happened to save him from…it all fit though not beautifully indicating something was so very off about this family. Then there was the quickie companionship of Sabra and Edgar. No Tyrios felt certain that this discovery was organic and even if it was a frame job the good thing about the justice system is it is there to work out the truth, to see it extracted from people and persons of interest on the hot seat of public observation and speculation. It was not his job to judge the validity of this find that would be Cimber's job. Too bad for Tyrios…he was already done for no matter what he discovered of the heist. Hell he could present Marlenus himself to the people of Minus and he'd still be roasted as a traitor after what Cimber learned of his little advisor today. For now oblivious for the first time in his life (or so he'd like to imagine) Tyrios busied himself with returning to the peasant and ordering he return to the town and gather a collection of men who he rhymed off personally by name to come transport the crates for the Administrator directly. (and no, no one is going to be tripping over the crates conveniently! Lol back you hyenas back!)

This has officially concluded! To read up on what happened I will not be posting a condensed version of events and instead am leaving the links here:

Thank you to everyone who was patient and who helped out, played along and rooted for the champion last night in Minus. The ending was a little impromptu but that's the beauty of roleplay. Great work Minus ... although since the real culprits were not captured or brought to justice this means that the case, at least in Cimber's mind, is still open. To the scribes of the investigative unit their report sent to Ar will read differently.

Tyrios made a nice fall guy did he not? So why mess with a sure thing.
