"When I was living in Colorado I dated a little bit. Problem was that I had so little in common with the guys, and we didn't last long. Kyle was the longest at just a little over a year. He left me for woman in Starfleet who promised to take him off of Earth." She shrugged, "I thought it was serious. As much as I think Julie is pure evil, and that you are too good for her, I'm happy that you found someone."

"Well after that last time the agency had her fake her death and I remarried and she torpedoed that... I told her, if that happens again, that's it. I even basically told her superiors, that if they're going to do that, at least have the courtesy of telling me. I have clearance, I'm not her big dumb boyfriend or 'baby daddy'. I also help design their tech. So yeah I blackmailed them." Nick chuckled lightly. "But we have four kids, so there are days when it's like 'we make it work for them' and there are days when neither of us can keep our hands off each other." he swirled what was left of his beer and sighed. "I just didn't think when we got married, that she'd be doing the ops she's doing still. Why do you think I married someone who was going into the Ambassador Corps? Although... she wasn't right either. I need someone who's on my level up here, that doesn't roll their eyes when I go off on a technobabble bender or feel like they have to fight me to get me out of the office or lab when I'm on a roll with a design. That doesn't get mad when I'm reading two padds at the same time, while I'm listening to her talk about her day and then getting things thrown at me because she thinks I'm not listening to her. I tell ya... I find an augment woman... pyrokinetic would be awesome, I really hate having sex like a Mormon so I don't roast Julie alive. Although I did design that skin repair device..."

"Well, if it is any consolation I have a feeling that the both of us will find someone that makes us completely happy." She shrugged and grinned, "Though I was certain we were all going to die on the Denver too. So, I can be wrong." She sat back and took in the sounds, and smiled. She clasped his hand, and leaned into him.

"Seein' the future huh?" Nick patted her hand. "Eh, we'll see how things go. Four kids under four years old, we still need to be a team, even if... this... keeps us apart. I vowed 'till death do us part'... twice. When she's with them, she's pretty good... although even her boss had to tone her down when she let loose on me over the comm. She wasn't entirely wrong. Still..." he reclined a bit and closed his eyes. "Starfleet Intel wants me to help them out, they need birds of their own, seems like not enough Captains and crews want to host 'spooks'."

"Starfleet seems to hate the older designs. Except for the Miranda of course. Modern components take up less space, and are more energy efficient. You could upgrade an old Ambassador or even a Constitution, put on a cloak, and you could have something that no one would expect."

She adjusted herself to a more comfortable position and used Nick's shoulder as a pillow and closed her eyes too.

"I'm thinking a Defiant, already know it works with a cloak, but an Ambassador..." Nick mused. "I'll have to wander around mom's ship a bit, Hope-B's an Ambassador, although internally she's far more Olympus class than anything, proves the frame is sound for whatever..." he stroked her hair gently. "Erebus would have been useful in this, shuttle bays can't hold enough fighter wings. Maybe it's time to pull my blackmail card. One of them at least. Admiral Connor and Senator Branton's little hook up in the men's room at a Hilton would not exactly look good on either of their records."

She yawned, "And let someone else build her? Would you?"

"We can lay the space frame... and then hopefully I can get you to actually oversee her construction." Nick replied.

"We can discuss it sure." She pushed herself up and smiled. "For now, I'm going to head to what's left of my quarters. I still feel pretty crappy."

"Yeah, kinda look it too." Nick said as he stretched out his bad leg. "I'll walk ya back... my quarters were in that blown out section, so I'm stealing someone else's, if they don't like it, I outrank 'em." he groaned as he stood up and leaned on his cane. "At least until the Hope comes around and I can curl up in my old bed. Can't wait until you can see Jack, he's gotten big."

"In the morning head down to sickbay and get your leg fixed," She suggested. The waiter handed her a PADD, and she imprinted it with her thumb before making her way out onto the promenade. If Dr. Ownes is not around you can use the EMH."

"I'll wait until ma comes, should be here tomorrow anyway, make her feel useful, besides... first time she's seen me in almost six months." Nick replied and walked with her. "She knows how my body works better than any doctor or EMH around, I don't have to explain my healing and how my pyrokinetics work. Or how my cybernetics in my forearms work. There IS still meat and bone in there. And I don't like Ownes."

"You don't like her?" Rebecca smirked. "I see a lot of me in her. I could have went to medical school you know?" She stepped into the turbolift, "Upper Pylon 3."

Three weeks of back breaking work Rebecca crawled out of a Jeffery's tube covered in soot and lubricant. We was stripped down to the gray tank undershirt and her hair was pulled back into a simple pony tail. "That should do it. Okay Parker go ahead and start initializing the pre-reaction chamber. Lynch did you get those dilithium crystals aligned?"

"Yes, ma'am. And I got the magnetic constrictors aligned too."

Rebecca nodded and looked over the console and nodded. "I am impressed by you performance, Lieutenant. Would you go ahead and connect the deuterium injectors. Power it up slowly."

Lynch went to the console in front of the core and started entering command. "Injectors are coming online."

"How are the magnetic interlocks looking?" Rebecca asked.

"They are stable," K'meck announced.

"Initiating matter/anti-matter reaction."

Lynch moved next to her and looked over the scree," 30 millicochran's... 45 millicochrans... 60... 80... 100... 150... 180 milicochrans," she smiled and glanced at Rebecca, "Warp core is online. Main power is being restored throughout the ship."

Rebecca patted Lynch on the shoulder, "Good work. Take the rest of the day off okay? Because tomorrow we have weapons, and inertial dampers."

She exited engineering and headed for a turbolift, "Computer, time."

"13:51."

"Shit," she scolded herself.

"Please restate query."

"Not you," she replied with a hint of annoyance."

She made it to her quarters by half walking/half running. Kicking off her boots she slipped on a clean pair of trousers. Without finishing getting dressed she bundled up the rest of her dress uniform and boots and rushed out, and back to the turbolift. There she pulled on her boots, then let her hair down to run her fingers through her crimson locks before twisting it into a haphazard bun.

She burst out of the turbolift pulling on her dress uniform jacket. She scowled at the waft of body odor. It wasn't bad. After all she did put on antiperspirant this morning, but she was keenly aware that she was putting the uniform over a sweaty under tank. She shrugged. There was nothing she could do about it at this point. She entered the Wardroom of Deep Space Nine making the final adjustments to her uniform. All eyes were on her and she felt the blood rush to her cheeks. That made Admiral Ross's scowl feel even more piercing. "Sorry."

"Nice that you joined us." Nick said as he got up off his seat and stood next to Ross. "Klingon Jefferies tubes are a bitch aren't they?" he said with a wink.
