"He might be. Space and time work a bit differently here. Only two rules, no fighting and you have to tell a story to pay the tab." Tess said as she gave her a wink. "I think a higher being actually runs the place, calls himself Cap... but the story doesn't have to be true or at least... true from a certain point a view. Just entertaining. "

"A story?" She laughed nervously, "what kind of story?"

"Any kind of good story, can be true... half true... complete and utter fabrication but entertaining..." Tess said as she saw a young Naval Captain give her a nod a wink. "What's said at the Captain's Table, stays at the Captain's Table. Oh and that's JFK... what a flirt."

"Indeed," she replied with a raised eyebrow. "So, where are we sitting?"

"Right over here is fine." Tess gestured to a corner table and crossed her legs as she got comfortable on the stool. "You know Becca, I have been waiting for this day for a long time. Really thought you'd actually beat Nick to the Captaincy, considering that he really just got it because he's been ferrying ships to the front and given how he is, he's been forced to engage. I really was expecting him to remain at Utopia Planetia or at least one of the Starbases or shipyards. Julie's been assigned... God knows where and I've been watching the children while Nick's been deployed. Natalia and Tony... neither of those two are really capable of babysitting for more than a day. Last time Tony watched the kids, Marcus had a fake mustache and was drinking his juice like it was Scotch and the girls were running rampant through AlphaTek Complex. Natalia... she's been filming that science show and her assistant took care of the kids more than she was. Rumiko and Arisu they're working with Julie and Ana and Jac always end up making the kids cry to go home or try to runaway." she sighed heavily and looked at the drink menu. "This is the first adult outing I've been on in weeks. Don't get me wrong, I love those kids, Angelica is going to be a Captain someday. But with Leo on assignment training planetary security on Earth's Moon, it's been... grandma needs to spend time with her favorite protege and get mildly plastered in the process."

"Order Captains?" the server said with a smile. "Sisters?"

"Hah... you so get a tip." Tess winked at him. "I'll have a brandy old fashioned, top shelf stuff, plenty of fruit and some fried cheese curds." she looked at Becca's expression. "Hey, I'm still a Wisconsin girl at heart."

Rebecca shrugged, "PiƱa Colada. Chips and salsa if you have it. If not just bring some bread of some sort."

Rebecca sat back and took in the sights when a trio of humans approached them. The leader had that smile that melted a woman's heart. ~Is that James T. Kirk?~ She asked herself. The other captain was a stranger to his left was a stranger to her, but she instantly recognized Captain Janeway. They had met briefly years ago.

"It's always good to see Starfleet captains here," the Kirk doppelganger announced. Without invitation they sat down with them, "James T. Kirk, Enterprise." He reached out with a hand.

Rebecca took it, "Rebecca Sandoval, the Denver."

Kirk smiled widely, and shrugged. "You can't fault a man for trying can you?"

Rebecca resisted rolling her eyes and groaned, "Yes, she can. No usually doesn't mean 'try harder'."

Tess laughed at that. "Hey you only had one chance and you took it, but it was one time." she shook her head and grinned. "Captain Janeway, I like the new hairstyle, bun of steel was so not flattering."

"Oh this?" She shrugged. "Yeah, thank you."

"Captain," Rebecca greeted. "We met briefly when the Saratoga shuttled you to the Billings."

"Aww, yes you were the Cheif Engineer. I was impressed by your questions and observations regarding the Cardassians. I suggested to Captain Saros that he needed to get you out of that gold uniform. I see that he did."

Rebecca cocked her head and raised an eyebrow, "Yes, he did. Right afterwards he promoted me to Lt. Commander, and started mentoring me in command. I transferred to the George Washington as the XO a year later. I guess I owe you a thanks."

Rebeca blushed, "I didn't do anything either of you here wouldn't have done. I just did what was needed. We couldn't allow our left flank to collapse like that or we could have been routed."

"You still made it out of that hellish battle when so many did not." Tess said and raised her glass. "To the fallen, may their memory never be forgotten, their sacrifice never wasted, and their mission completed."

"Here! Here!" The assembled captains shouted.

The bartender approached and waved other people over. Pushing tables together the party grew.

Grinning the bartender extended a hand, "People call me Cap. Welcome to the Captain's Table, and congratulations on the promotion. It is customary around here that the first round comes with a story."

Rebecca blushed, "I'm afraid I'm not much good at stories." She glanced to Tess for help.

"Oh I am sure that there are some... interesting stories that you had with Nick..." Tess said with a wink. "What about that first mission you two lead?"
