He laughed, "The falls of ka'lisia we one of the most breathtaking places in all of the world. A testament to our Lady Narla. The grande hall just here. Oh, the opulence! The masquerade bells, and feasts that we... well fit for me! The countryside with it's neat little tracts of farms or forest land. Happy Narlins, and Hylons." He face went somber, and shrugged.

Angel touched his arm and smiled up at him. "It could be that way again... don't give up on that. I would love to learn a bit more about your people's history." she glanced at Sandoval. "And how a Starfleet Admiral and an Emperor have become such good friends."

Magus laughed, "Our history is long, and a trifle boring. Short story is Youlan the Great united the eight Kingdoms into the Empire. Later we made first contact with the Govan, we treated them like slaves, and they rebelled."

He shrugged and drowned his ale again. "As far as how the Admiral and I became acquainted." He laughed again and placed a hand on Becca's shoulder and playfully shook her. "I stole her ship!"

"Oh my gosh!" Angel put her hand over her mouth and laughed. "Clearly that didn't keep her mad too long." she said with a smirk. "Only one other man elicits that look she's giving you. You're a lot like him, strong and yet you have a... natural calm. Intense when you need to be, but you can just relax and be yourself." she blushed slightly. "Sorry if I sound like I'm analyzing you."

"I was furious," Rebecca laughed. "It wasn't actually him who took the Erebus."

"No, but I did give the okay. Dark days! Dark days indeed." There was sadness in his voice, and a little shame. "I owe you my friend."

"Indeed," she said with a slight grin.

"Seems it worked out in the end." Angel said with a smile. "Turned a potential... enemy into an ally. Something that we probably should have tried to do with so many disastrous First Contact situations."

Magis nodded and hid his face behind his cup taking a long drink of the alcohol. He set it down and refilled the cup.

"I retook the ship before they could do anything with it. With it I negotiated a peace, and the Gorvan left Narlin space returning to their nomadic ways."

"You were going to help us kill the Govan on their homworld," Magus added.

Rebecca frowned. It wasn't her proudest moment. Join a fight with only on side's word. "But, I didn't. I heard their leader out, and ended your war."

Magus laughed, "Of course you did. It was prophesized by Galinda Stormborn in the 3rd Age. And, that my friend is why you are a hero to the empire."

Rebecca smiled politely and leaned into Angel, "it is oddly specific. It even mentioned the divide we had on the Erebus. We had left the saucer section back in the Pythus Sector. I think an alien race has taken themselves up as their gods. One that is similar to the Bajoran Profits or even a Q like entity."

"Like McKenna's people?" Angel whispered. "Hey I lived in Pythus long enough to hear the rumors." she ran her hand through her hair and winced. "Just like the old 'gods' of Hawaii were actually very old El Aurians."

"Either way," Magus continued. "Narla and the rest of the gods have left us a lone for a long time. To the point where a substantial amount of Narlins no longer believes they ever existed."

"Same happened on Earth," Rebecca replied. "As science advances more and more humans have given up their gods." She grinned, 'I seem to be a minority. Raised Catholic."

"Dad tried to raise that way too. I'm more than my sister. I find it comforting to know there's more than this." Angel replied and nodded her head. "I think there's far more to the Universe than what we know, even with science and the existence of higher life forms. Who's to say there aren't other supreme beings? Our Bible said we started out with two... which I never quite believed, doesn't even make biological sense, since they had two sons. The tree needs to fork, not spoon. And speaking as the eldest of four siblings... ew."

"Eighteen... oh your poor parents." Angel chuckled. "I am sure the four of us made a lot of trouble for our parents. Was hard enough to get even ten minutes of bathroom time in. Part of the reason why I spent so much time around my father, I could use his personal bathroom in his office." she looked at him and smiled. "So... are you the oldest or simply the smartest?"

"We live a long life," Magus replied. "I am 128 years old. Narlin females are only fertile once every two years. Still, families of 20 or more are common."

"Wow... I... never would have guessed anything in the triple digits." Angel said and smiled. "You have such a... youthful energy. Reminds me of a few people I know. Now I entirely see why the Admiral likes you. So Your Majesty, how long do your people usually live?"

-- Ensign Angelica Ryder's Log --

It was today that I knew exactly where my life would lead. What I would do with my budding career. Barely a day in uniform and I had experienced an explosion. Witnessed first hand just how dirty parts of our government truly is. And met an ally and a race that despite my parents and my teachers trying to teach me about as many cultures as they could... I never imagined I would have met. I met an Emperor. Sat at his table. Shared a meal with him. Asked him so many questions I was afraid he would get annoyed with me, instead... he told me stories and so much about his people. Probably felt flattered that someone from outside his world thought their history and their people were worth learning about. And as a personal note... I thought he was incredibly handsome. Even though he dwarfed myself and Admiral Sandoval, maybe it was growing up around so many other tall people, like my father, my brother Marcus, my grandfather Leo... that wasn't entirely unattractive to me.

I also made a personal vow today, that I would try to help these people and others like them. Inclusion would be my personal mission. And as my father's Yeoman, I would make sure that we presented nothing but respect to other races and cultures, no matter what planet they come from. If there is a plot by racist Terrans, then I want to show that not all of us are like that.

Even if one of them may be my own mother...

End Log --

Angel got up from the small desk in her room and pulled on her uniform jacket over the simple set of pajamas she had on, the mobile drydock, the USS Independence, had arrived during dinner and the ship was being repaired. Stormtalon had graciously let Sandoval and her have quarters in the royal hall. Slipping her boots on she walked toward Sandoval's room and tapped on the door.

"Admiral? Are you awake? Mind if we talk?" Angel asked politely. She had wondered if her father and her had found out anything more about the attack. The thought of her mother being involved, made her sick to her stomach. Not that she wasn't capable of it and she always had some... issues with her line of work, but she was still her mother. Of course, unknown to her parents, she was around the night they had a big argument and at the end of it, she overheard her telling her father, that she'd stay until her brothers and her had grown up and were able to be independent. She and Olivia were the oldest and given the uniform she wore today, she made the first step. Marcus was only a little over a year younger and Jack was over two years younger. None of them were entirely children, although she'd argue that Marcus was still a 'little boy', even though she knew full well that he got Kirby pregnant, which was why she didn't hang around Olivia anymore. Why she somehow was sent to Australia for school. She shook her head and sighed, sometimes she hated her augment memory...

"Yes, come!" Rebecca announced.

She was standing in the center of the room. Her uniform jacket was open and her auburn hair fell loosely over her shoulders. A holo-transmitter was on and a Starfleet Marine was talking.

"I stayed two nights," the Marine said, "Admiral Ryder is still alive."

"And Julie?"

"Aye, they made love several times. She told Admiral Ryder she would look into the attacks. Do ya want me ta follow Mrs. Ryder?"

"No Kat, you've already had an encounter with Ms. Ryder, and another would be problematic. Thank you, but I am going to have to trust Nicholas from here on out. Keep yourself ready. I'll call you again if I have a need for you."

"Aye. Keep yerslef safe my sasanach friend." She grinned and the holo comm signal closed and she disappeared.

"What can I do for you Angel?" She asked, using her name for the first time all day. Rebecca went to the table and poured herself a coffee from the pot. "You want a coffee? I hope you didn't drink too much of that ale. The stuff is as strong as Romulan ale with double the hangover. That's why I sipped my glass and wouldn't let Magus refill it."
