"Need I remind you Lieutenant that, that bio-agent was of Narlin design, and used extensively against the Gorvan. Your people are not blameless victims," Rebecca replied. To Angel she continued, "They have already received three soil soil reclamators with a dozen more on the way. The Federation is doing more for the Narlins than they ever did for the Bajorans." Rebecca finished up the PADD, and handed it to Angel. "Are you sure about those names?" Lehona nodded, "Yes ma'am." She directed a questioning look in Angel's direction. "Ms. Lee has been briefed on the situation, and I assisting myself and another Admiral." "Understood ma'am. Most of those names have only expressed anti-alian sentiment in their correspondence, and Ensigns Davis, Fuller, and Commander Petrov have been in contact with the names you specified that I look for." Rebecca shook her head in dismay. Both her 2nd officer, and helmsman were mixed up in this." |

Angel looked at the padd and closed her eyes and nodded her head as she committed the contents to memory before handing it back. "So what are your orders ma'am?" she inquired. First day on the job and already there was some very nasty things going on that few were aware of. What disturbed her most of all, were that a few of the names on that list, were people her mother worked with and were considered friends of the family. Of course, as her grandfather was always quick to remind her, 'Opinions are like assholes, everyone has one, but you don't need to show it or let everyone know you have a really foul one.' "And for the record Lieutenant, I was not trained or brought up to think the way these people do." Angel said with a sigh. "Blaming 'aliens' for their problems. How 'evolved' is that?" |

"I never thought otherwise Ensign," she replied simply. "There was plenty of anti-alien sentiment on my own world. It seems to be the natural and if not unfortunate way the galaxy operates." "Indeed," Rebecca replied. "I cannot have Commander Petrov serve as my second officer. He has been requesting a transfer. I was going to deny it, but now I see no other option, and it explains a great deal." Rebecca typed a quick message onto the PADD: I will need to talk to your father. "Thank you Lieutenant. Continue to monitor. If you can't forward any additional information to myself, you may use Ensign Lee here. She will know how to get it to the right people." Lehona nodded. "Understood ma'an." |

Angel tapped out another message: Let's get to the ready room.' And looked at the Lieutenant. "And anything else you may see or hear that feels... off." She couldn't deny, whatever was going on, this was rather exciting to be a part of. Barely even 'official' and she was already in the middle of something. Now she started to see why when her father told her stories from when he entered the service, he was in the thick of it from the start. Here was a Lieutenant looking at her as a fellow officer, when only the day before she was getting hassled by mean girls in her high school. Although now the 'mean girls' were grown adults who should know better, hassling people from other planets. At least she knew her 'Aunt Becca' was not one of them and she was determined to be a good example and follow her lead. |

"It can wait. For now you have an appointment with the doctor." Rebecca lead her deeper into the flight deck. It was awash with noise, and activity. Fighters and shuttles were either taxiing around the deck or taking off. Those that was motionless were crawling with flight engineers fueling, repairing, and rearming them with torpedoes. Rebecca explained proper etiquette while on the flight deck, and explained the what was going on. Halfway down the deck Rebecca turned and entered corridor. Various doors led to cargo bays, and offices for the squadron leaders. She turned left and entered a small sickbay. Dr. Hamilton looked up from a PADD and smiled, "Aww admiral. Good morning." "Morning Tom. This is the ensign I told you about. She will be going by the name Lee while on board. Ensign this is the Flight Surgeon for the USS Erebus." The Doctor nodded and went to a medical terminal and entered commands. "Well, Ms. Ry... Ms. Lee I got your medical records from your family doctor about 20 minutes ago. It appears that..." He raised an eyebrow, "That you have not attended Starfleet Academy?" |

Angel looked him in the eyes and nodded her head slightly. "But you know who my parents are and I have pre-Academy test scores that would allow me to skip a considerable amount of my first year. I am also... required... to inform you that I have Augment DNA, courtesy of my father's genetics. For a 'tiny thing' I'm a lot more durable than I look and I have a photographic memory." she glanced at his monitor. "The file you were working on when we arrived. 'Acclimated' has two C's." |

"You can relax Ensign. I was just making sure I had everything." He opened a tricorder, and did a quick scan. He closed the tricorder, and completed his file. "Oh to be young again. You are the picture of heath, and I just signed off on your medical." |

"Thank you Doctor." Angel said with a sweet smile. "I trust my real identity will be kept confidential?" she winced slightly. "Kind of my first day 'on the job' as it were, officially at least. I know I dropped my parents as a reference but I want to make it on my own steam. Legacy will only get me so far. I'm just honored that Admiral Sandoval thought I was ready for this." |

"You don't need to defend yourself," Hamilton replied. "When you leave make a left and at the end of the corridor is the pilot's locker room. Yours will have your name on it. There is a flight suit. Put it on and meet me on the flight deck," Rebecca said. Edited by Rebecca Talon, Apr 18 2018, 09:06 PM.

"You have a flight suit with my name on it? Already?" Angel gave her a wide grin and mouthed 'Best.Aunt.Ever.' before saluting her. "Yes ma'am. I'm a fast change." Practically running to the locker room, Angel was already unfastening her uniform and practically slid into the locker room. Found the locker marked 'A. Lee' and saw her first flight suit, name already on the breast pocket and the whole compliment of support gear. It didn't take her long to get changed and set up. Picking up her padd, she walked from the locker room to the flight deck. She had to admit, the flight suit added an extra inch or so to her height from the mag boots and the anti-g force padding made her seem that much more 'adult'. "Ensign Lee reporting in ma'am." Angel said as she clicked her heels together and saluted Admiral Sandoval. "So which bird is our's?" |

"Mustang 6," Rebecca replied. The fighter was a member of VF-23 also known as "Mustang Squadron". It was the only original squadron on the Erebus, as the others had either been rotated off or deactivated. "Ensign Jora Trel is out with the Takalian flu." Rebecca spent the next hour showing Angel how to do a pre-flight, and the basics of controlling the craft. Deciding to test the ensign's abilities Rebecca slid into the second seat and strapped herself in. "Make sure your harness is snug. Okay they people in the green shirts are the mechanics. Red are your ordinance crews. Watch out for them at all times. They can be anywhere on deck. Blue are the auxiliary craft handlers. They move these ships to and from the hanger bays and arrange them on the line. Your yellow shirts are your deck bosses. They may be NCOs, but on the flight deck the deck boss is in charge. You don't move unless they direct you to." |

"Got it." Angel said as she began the pre-flight from scratch. Going through each step just as Becca had shown her, glancing back for confirmation she had done everything correctly. "Not too different from what I practiced on, but I'm not used to having so many ground crew. I take it when we get the 'ok' to launch, they know to get out of the way right?" |

"When you are ready signal to the deck boss to move us into launch position. Just follow the yellow lines." Rebecca pressed the comm switch. She wanted Angel to concentrate on the fighter. "Echo Romeo, Mustang 6 requesting launch position." Echo Romeo was the call sign for the Erebus' officer at the Auxiliary Craft Control Station, or A-Con, which was located on the bridge. "Acknowledged Mustang 6. Proceed to taxiway B-Rght and hold for a flight of inbound runabouts." The Erebus had four taxiways. Taxiways marked A moved forward, and B moved aft. Left was used for inbound craft, and Right for outbound . "Acknowledged Echo Romeo, Mustang 6 out." Edited by Rebecca Talon, Apr 19 2018, 10:26 PM.

"Proceeding to B-Right." Angel replied and hit the comm switch. "Deck Boss, this is Mustang 6, ready when you say we're ready." she said and looked around the hanger. "Y'know I knew this was huge from the schematics dad has in his office, but seeing it like this, the blue print doesn't do it justice." |

"The through-deck flight deck really gives you the perspective of the ship," Rebecca replied. "Don't forget the nacelles extend past the aft egress." The deck boss directed Angel on to the taxiway, and waved her goodbye releasing her from his control. "In many ways this Falke class fighter is inferior to the old Paragrins we flew during the war. No anti-grav plating or grav generators. But, the wheeled landing gear is idiot proof, and makes moving these ships around the flight deck easy, and the maintenance is far superior. Our former Master Chief K'meck saw to that. The shields on these birds are the best that have ever been installed on a craft of this size." A trio of Yelloston class runabouts glided through the force field and and turned off onto the other taxiway. "Mustang 6, Echo Romeo, you are cleared for launch maintain heading 010 mark 8 for 1 million kilometers, then you are free to navigate. Please be advised visual flight rules are in effect until you clear the solar system." Edited by Rebecca Talon, Apr 20 2018, 05:29 AM.
