Akirren had sent a few messages out, arranging a meeting with some of the others in the command structure of Byron and its military arm. Terra Alpha was a tense place these days, with the war breaking out at every little spark, one never knew if their own race would be the next to take up arms. As yet, the Trill had been mostly quiet, but that would eventually change. With Kate in tow and well disguised, he made his way towards one of the little roadhouse type bars on the outskirts of the colony. Odds are the place at least had a good shot at being quiet. Most people in these areas tended to keep to themselves. He glanced up at the sign on the front of the building. It featured a wild hog snorting and charging to some unknown destination. "The Boar's Nest?" Humans..... Kate glanced over at him and smiled, she had become accustomed to his at times overly stoic attitude, but still found it amusing. He entered and walked towards the far corner, it was quiet, with the only other patrons being a couple of local constables and a farmhand. The waitress came over and asked for their order. Akirren took a soda while he awaited the others. |

A motorcycle rumbled up, it's rider was not a known member of the command staff, but rather part of the 'grey hat' organization Sons of the Federation. On the surface they were just a motorcycle club that ran a bike repair shop and supplied and manufactured repair parts. Under the surface they were covert gun runners and also ran a protection racket. Essentially they charged up the nose for shady businesses to stay secure, gave their services for next to nothing to honest businesses. Some saw them as criminals, others as the good guys. Most were former Starfleet officers. Although all but two of the current chapter were Terran, there was one Vulcan and one Betazoid. "Hey, please tell me ya got a bathroom?" he said almost immediately after entering. "In the back, to the right." the waitress said, half bored out of her skull. "Thank ya pretty lady." he winked and walked to the back and after a few minutes returned and walked over to the one table that was actually occupied. "Mind if I take a seat." he said with a broad grin through his close cut blonde beard. His leather jacket and t-shirt smelled of motor oil and Old Spice. "Hiya." he nodded to the woman. "Name's Zack." |

"Akirren. Pleasure, Mr. Miller." Akirren nodded towards the woman beside him. "This is Kate, my assistant. Imagine running into you out here, of all people. A weapons trader and a weapons designer." |

"Strange bedfellows as they say." Zack chuckled, "Ryder told me to come out here, figured my organization would be better suited for a more... under the table weapons deployment, as he put it." he took a sip of the water and made a face, "Hey Judy, pot of coffee huh?" "You come here that often huh?" Nick said as he arrived, dressed very casually, with a day's stubble on his chin and helmet hair. "Nah, but I can read." Zack said with a smirk. "She's cute, could do better than this dive." Ali said as she walked in behind him. "So could you." Zack replied giving Ali a second look. "And who might you be?" "Alessandra." She said with a bit of a roll to her eyes, "Down boy, last I heard you were taken." "No ring on my finger yet." he said as he held up his ring finger. "So where's the rest?" "On their way." Nick answered as he sat down and looked at Katie with an eyebrow raise, "I do hope she eats or it'll look fishy." he whispered. |

Akirren nodded. "She does, luckily for her, she has an atomic resequences that allows her to modify things so they don't damage her systems. I have a couple of friends coming as well." He said it just a few moments before the door opened again and more of their crewmates entered. "Mr. Miller, meet Sergeant Cristiel, Second Duchess of the Golddale Highlands of Lantea. She is our Marine Intelligence Officer, coordinating with the TACR. Captain James Webster, Commander of our Marine Detachment and acting Commander of the Rangers while his brother is incapacitated." |

"Please, all our hands are dirty." Natalia Ryder said as she walked over the group, of all those gathered, she was the only one who stood out just a bit. Expensive looking high heels, a perfectly tailored skirt and blazer, a long pearl necklace and matching bracelets. "Dr. Natalia Ryder." she said softly to the others as she sat down. "Who picked this place anyway?" "My sister." Nick rolled his eyes, "When did you get so hoity toity?" "I always was, why do you think I took to media so well?" Nat said with a wink and gave Bardan a glance, "I only came with the provisio that this doesn't turn into an pissing match between our two companies... which is why I told Tony that the meeting was tomorrow." |

Akirren smiled and shook his head. "There are no commercial interests on my end. Our sales are of consumer goods, and certain...covert devices." He shook his head. "No, the reason I wanted to speak with you all is that, quite simply, things are darkening all across the galaxy. There is a storm coming, greater than any of us can imagine. Right now we have the opportunity to prepare for it. Which is why, quite simply I am proposing a bit of a....restructuring and a change in our battle doctrine." James leaned forward over the table, resting his forearms across it. "It sounds like you have something in mind for my Marines, Mr. Bardan. Mind informing us of what it is?" Akirren nodded and glanced around the table. "For the past few centuries, warfare has been rather stagnant. Quite simply that is because technology has prevented any widespread gains by any one power. However that is changing. Technologies we set about creating years ago are finally coming to fruition. Many parallelling between AlphaTek and Citadel in fact. These things we began working on because we anticipated the day when something would rise and cause a civil war among the Federation. We did not anticipate Terra Pax. It has become apparent that fighting a conventional war against them is a dismal failure, so its time that we fight fire with fire." He smiled and looked around the table, "Of all the weapons wielded by all the races throughout the ages, what is the most powerful." Edited by James Webster, Nov 3 2011, 06:11 PM.

"Estrogen." Ally quipped. "When we ladies enter a fight, things change." "Cute, but no." Nick shook his head. "What did you have in mind Webster?" "Well, speaking as the only one at this table who has not only seen Terra Pax close up, but was tortured endlessly by them for a few days. You're going to need to look at this whole thing differently." Ally said bitterly, "They don't give a shit about their lives, they don't care about anything except their 'mission' and that's... pretty much to see humans as the overlords of everything pretty much. I overheard something about Emperors and Empresses... and those kinds of tones being applied to Tiberius and Julie." |

OOC: That was Akirren lol. BIC: Akirren looked up with a smile. "That weapon is fear, Admiral. Fear is the most potent weapon that has ever been used. If you destroy your enemies will, then they are more soundly defeated than if they were killed wholesale. I believe it is time we put the fear into the fearless." He pulled a PADD out of his jacket and slid it across the table. "As you can see I have made some modifications to our armor and our chosen weaponry. This is the Michael variant of the Archangel armor. As you can see its usual mottled green exterior has been replaced by a light absorbing midnight black along with a rather fearsome looking imagery. These images may be modified to suit each user's own tastes. As for weapons, well it demonstrates itself." The weapons systems came up on the screen. "First up, we have a modified plasma disruptor, essentially a very nasty flamethrower. Second, and my favorite, we have a flechette gun on the right arm. This kind of weapon is something that will absolutely shock any enemy force without hesitation." He smiled as the last one came up. "Replacing the heavy battleblade on the other arm is a unique weapon I designed specifically for a shock-and-awe weapons system. Essentially we created a high density tritanium alloyed with neutronium, then forged it into an extensible chain. A high intensity current brings its surface temperature to well over three thousand degrees. Quite simply, hot enough to cut through anyone or just about anything." He leaned back in the chair and smiled. "Honestly, I don't see us using most of this in actual combat situation, which is why it also has a variety of conventional weapons." James looked appreciative, "Well that does sound quite impressive. So it sounds like you are suggesting we fight a total war. Destroy not only their ability to fight, but their will as well. Basically you are suggesting we go in, we hit them, we show them that we won't back down, that we won't stop, and that we are willing to fight as ruthlessly as necessary to take them down." "Or is that what they want us to do? Stoop to their level. We use their fear against them, great... but then they pull the same shit and they can say "well you started it"." Noella said as she gestured with her hand, "While I'm generally for basically saying we have a big stick, but if we become the baddies... we lose our edge. After all, a wise man once asked, is it better to be feared... or respected. And another wise man replied, 'is it too much to ask for both.'." "As much as I hate to agree with the ex-wife she does bring up a valid point. We act too much like 'the man' then we'll get a rebellion simply because of what we're showing we can do." Nick said as he leaned back and hummed a bit, "Although we do have some pretty nasty technology at our disposal that we could use as a threat." "That's all well and good, but remember, Terra Pax has put forward a lot in terms of resources, manpower and rebuilding efforts. Tiberius is setting himself up as an almost messiah like figure. We attack that, we look like we're attacking an ally." Noella said firmly, "We need to be smart about this, and I'm not talking techie smart, I'm talking street smart, book smart, intellignent. For pity's sake, this whole planet started out as the brain child of Section 31! As a place for them to do Lord knows what! It's only after they were outed that their plan became less about their own needs and more about others." "We know this Noella." Nick said with a groan. "But you don't understand it. We have to be careful, we attack the terrorists, but we can't attack the group willy nilly. Minute we create "martyrs" out of them, we lose the war." She looked the boys in the eyes. "Scary armor may work against a few, but we can't go around swinging your dicks around goin' mine is bigger than bloody your's!" |

James cocked his head and smiled. "Oh you are the devil incarnate, Bardan. I see where this is really going." He turned to the rest of the table. "What Mr. Bardan is suggesting is merely half of his plan. Which he amusingly was holding back, just so he could let you make your arguments and then counteract them without missing a step." He shook his head. "Typical techies to do something to make everyone else feel dumb." Akirren nodded respectfully toward James. "Mr. Webster indeed knows his technical compatriots well, no doubt thanks to his wife. The second half of my plan is much more straightforward. Quite simply, we utilize our own resources, as well as any that can be aquired from other sources and we wage a strictly military engagement against Terra Pax. Our 'black forces', we will quite simply utilize to attack any installations and outposts which privately support Terra Pax and who would be damaged in the public opinion by announcing their support." He nodded towards Cristiel. "The specific target Commander Bardan is speaking of is the Axani Research Center, a premier science, research, and development center whose director has been found to have close personal ties to Terra Pax. However, they provide a great deal of medical and security equipment to various small governments, as well as to Starfleet. Quite simply, we use the black forces to hit this facility and those like it, produce documentation stating the location of all forces when Terra Pax blames us, carefully doctored ones mind you. And then offer those systems our protection. For a small fee of course." She smiled. "So the end result is, Terra Pax gets hurt in their allies' eyes, they will of course be asked to provide some protection for these facilities, then we hit again. Finally when we come in to protect them, we repel a small feint assault and then reap the financial and PR War benefits." |
