"I am not going to force anything. I have only suggested that she allow you to speak to her. Perhaps she will be more willing to speak now that she is not in so much pain."

“True. BUT I FUCKIGN AM!” he roared out in anger and let loose more of the stored energy in him, practicably shining up the emptiness in a soft glow for a moment.

"Maybe I can do something." Though inexperienced with the concept, Peach gently probed the pain center of Zerna's brain, trying to see if she could turn it off remotely. She knew that it was possible, but her attempts proved less than useful. "I do not like to suggest this, but since she is going to use the tank, perhaps it would be wiser to transfer the pain back and allow the gel to take it from her instead. You do not seem well-equipped to handle the intensity of it."

“Alright, but only gradually return it. I don't want her to be shocked by it.”

"I will be very careful." Peach gently prodded Clio again, alerting her to the incoming transfer before trying to open the link between the two people again.

Uh... what are you doing?

He cannot tolerate the pain, but he will only give it back to you if you go to Aglaia and use the tank. I will make the transfer as slow as possible.

Okay...

You seem skeptical of his intentions. Peach paused. Opening the link will mean he can hear you. You do not have to speak if you do not want to.

Fine. But if you drag me in there again...

I will not do that. With Clio's consent, Peach was able to open the link between both humanoids just enough to allow the pain to trickle backward along it. "I do not know where she is physically, but I have agreed to allow her to remain outside this place. However, you will be able to hear her if she chooses to speak. I cannot block that while there is a direct link between you."

“I respect that and when both are not dealing with pain, I hope she would be willing to talk to me again. I do have some planing to do while she recovers.” he said and closed his eyes. “Thank you Peach, for talking to me.” With that he mentaly severed the link when he didn't feel the pain anymore.

Before she could respond, Zerna was gone. He is such a strange man.

...did he just call you 'Peach'?

Of course he did. That is my name.

He doesn't use your name.

He does now. He apologized to me for calling me 'the fruit' and now he calls me 'Peach' instead.

And you're
friends now?

Don't say it like that. He's a nice person if you give him a chance.
Peach abruptly cut the link between them, going back to her nap and leaving Clio to wonder just what Zerna had said - or done - to make the young bioship act that way.

Zerna sat up and rubbed the side of his face, the 'phantom' pain was still there but he picked up a PADD and added the data from the land that Clio owned. He needed to find a place for the pool that was close enough to the house, something to cover her up so she wouldn't scare the animals or get un-welcomed guest who would look at her like she was an animal in a zoo. Then he needed to work out the dimensions of it, the density of the gel and the material on the bottom that would hold a ship that size.

With Peach suddenly cutting off contact and refusing to help her get to where Zerna was keeping Aglaia, Clio had been left with a long shuttle flight to the station... or convincing the point-to-point transporter to accept a new location for its destination. Neither option was especially appealing, and she certainly wasn't going to hail Aglaia and ask the frigate to transport her aboard. She would much prefer to avoid Zerna for now; their friendship had degraded so far in the past few days that she didn't even know how to talk to him anymore.

It was easier than she expected to reprogram the transporter, but then the damn thing dropped her off right behind where Zerna was working. Oh for Heaven's sake, what kind of cosmic joke is this? First Peach had forced her to talk to him, and now the transporter - which wasn't even sentient - seemed to be conspiring against her too. She wondered if he even noticed her and if she could vanish into the tank room without him saying anything...

“The tank is ready for you. I asked Aglaia to heat it up.” he simply said for a moment before he returned to his work.

"Thanks." Despite being angry with him, she couldn't help but be intrigued by his new project. She couldn't see much of it, but one PADD caught her eye and she moved a little closer to see it. "You're researching the bioships? Why?"

“Not really the bioship it self. But we will talk later, jump in the tank already.” he gestured over his shoulder towards the door out of the cockpit.

Still slightly suspicious of what his intent might be, Clio quietly retreated toward the tank room. "All right. But only because it hurts too much to talk anyway."

“I know.” he rubbed his chin. “What kind of gel should I use? I can't use the high end stuf, or even the low end. She doesn't need that, I don't even know if it would harm her...” he muzed. “Maybe just plain and simply purified gel, it's clean with no salt in it...”

Nearly to the doorway that led to the tank room, Clio paused, looking over her shoulder. If they weren't in orbit, she'd simply turn off her blocking device and ask if he minded talking through a telepathic link. "Is this for Peach?"
