Far from the area where someone had been digging, Clio gave her hovering 'baby' a 'now what' look. She'd gotten Peach to hover just above the ground, but there was no way she could reach to spray the top of the bioship with water. Somehow they'd forgotten that she'd need to be able to reach all of the ship. Hmmmm. If you roll on your side, can you still hover?

I am uncertain, but I can try. There was a slight increase in her engine sounds as Peach carefully rolled her back toward Clio, eventually stabilizing in the 'sideways' position. Yes! I can! Cool!

Clio chuckled at her. Okay. Stay like that. There wasn't much salt on Peach's back, but the white deposits gave most of her deep red hull glittering speckles. You should have told me. I would have found a different solution.

It is not your fault, and there is nowhere else on the planet that is large enough. I am not ready to stay in orbit.

Okay, I guess you have a point. Now be still. Clio retrieved the long hose she had hooked up to one of Cordale's water pumps. Not sure how Peach would react, she set the spray nozzle for the gentle 'rain' pattern she used for Murphy and the horses and let the spray run over Peach's broad back.

Peach wiggled spasmodically, giggling through their psychic link. That tickles!

Be still! Clio laughed at her, trying to keep the water spray steady. Come on, you're worse than Murphy! Am I going to have to tie you up?

Don't you dare! Though she became still again, Peach still giggled as the water ran over her outer hull. Maybe if you turn it higher?

Any higher and the pressure will be too high for your hull, I think.

I see. I will try to be still then.

Zerna had been hard at work preparing the massive pool for peach. He had made a huge hole that would accommodate a fully grown bio ship, the bottom and sides where covered with twenty meter thick layer of silicon that would support her weight and he wanted to try out some of the difirent gels before he filled it. So he came to the cleaning party and looked at peach. “You know you are sideways right?” he teased and pointed at the ship.

Hush, you!

Clio snickered at them both. "She says 'hush', but she's laughing like mad, so I don't think she's serious. And I can't reach her back otherwise... unless I want to stand on the roof. Which is not happening... I'll fall off."

“So you don't trust her?” he walked up to the ship and ran his hand over the hul that he could barely reach. “Do you mind if I try some gels on you Peach? I want to know witch one is more comfortable.”

"I trust her plenty, but her back is rounded and kind of slick. I don't trust myself to keep my footing." Clio paused, waiting for Peach to give her an answer to relay.

Let him try the gels. I will try to open a link to him so you do not have to translate.

"You can start trying the gel on her back, where she's already clean. She's going to try to open a link to you, so don't be too surprised if you can suddenly hear her."

“Alright, he jumped up on her hull, using the fine groves all over the hull to climb up. He noticed that the texture inside the groves where difirent. “What do you feel more. This.” he ran his hand over the outer hull. “Or this.” he ran a few fingers through the grove.

"Give her a second." To avoid making Zerna's climbing area any more slippery than it already was, Clio temporarily turned off the water as she watched him climb up the bioship's hull.

Peach quivered slightly, unaccustomed to the feeling of someone climbing on her. As Zerna touched her armor plating and the area between, she gently tapped his mind enough to open a small portal for communication. Hello, Mister Jernal, she said warmly. There is sensation in my armor plating, but the spaces between are more sensitive. That is where the new skin and plating is being produced. She paused and then added, You may speak aloud if you prefer. I can still hear you that way, through Miss Clio's ears.

He smiled, ”Hello Peach. I don't want to be rude Peach, just hearing one side of it, so lets keep it in private for now.” he said before he pulled out the first small vial out of from the bag he had on his back, he applied it gently in the grove before he moved on to an area a bit away so she could feel the difference easier. Ones he was done, there was a twelve samples.

Now, tell me witch ones you are most comfortable with. He asked calmly as was ready to remove any gel that was uncomfortable to her.

Peach quietly allowed the gel samples to rest against her skin, noting how some seemed to simply sit on top of her and others seemed to seep in. One tingled like the peppermint oil that Clio had used to ease a minor cut on one of her interior walls, gently penetrating and relieving the intense itching under that armor plate. I like the fourth and sixth samples, but the eighth one is the best. Does it have peppermint in it?

No but it is very rich in minerals and vitamins. He answered as he removed the samples. “Give me... Two hours, then you can bring Peach.” he said to Clio as he slid down the hull and landed with ease.

As Zerna went back to his dig site, Clio grinned a little and went back to giving Peach her bath. Most of the salt deposits she came across melted easily into the water, with only a few harder deposits needing any additional attention.

So... what is the gel for?

I really don't know, Peach. He wants to surprise you, so he didn't tell me. Clio paused, studying Peach's broad back for signs of sparkling salt. Roll onto your belly.

Peach obligingly rolled back onto her belly with minimal effort. You do not mind him keeping secrets from you?

Why would I mind? It's not like I've married him.

Are you going to? Peach asked innocently, flicking her tail.

Clio paused, startled by the question. Well... I don't know. We haven't even gone on a date yet.

What is a 'date'? Besides denoting what day of the month and year it is. Or a fruit.

Um... She had no idea how to translate the concept of dating into terms a young bioship would understand; it was like explaining it to a two-year-old child. Or to Murphy. Usually it's two people who like each other doing something together. Like... going to dinner or watching a movie. Or maybe they take a couple horses for a ride and have a picnic.

I do not understand how this is not a date then. You are together, completing a project.

You're as bad as Jhu.This is not a date!

Peach bobbed up and down, giggling gleefully. Maybe I will ask him if he thinks it is a date.

He'll say 'no.' Can you turn your other side toward me? The hose isn't long enough to go around.

And what if he says yes? Peach turned very slowly, carefully watching for Murphy and Spunky as she moved.

I don't think he'll say that. He barely acknowledges that he likes me at all.

I think you are simply not paying attention. Or maybe you do not understand him as well as you think you do. Settling into her new orientation, Peach let her tail droop to the ground to maintain her elevation more easily.

Okay... Working on a salt deposit that was lodged between Peach's 'wing' and body, Clio began to wonder just how smart and observant the bioships really were. Why do you say that, Peach?

He kissed you at the Mount and confessed his fears. Then yesterday once you caught him at the end of your chase...

Yesterday I kissed him. I think you're getting confused.

Let me finish. Peach dipped her 'wing' down further to make the salt easier to reach. You chased him and knocked him down. Then he practically begged you to kiss him. Then he 'rescued' you from the crowd and let you sleep on Aglaia last night. I think he had Aglaia watch you while you slept, to make sure your allergy did not cause any problems while you were sleeping.

I suppose that wouldn't surprise me much. He did seem more concerned that I thought he'd be...

See? There was a triumphant glow over Peach's words. He does show you, but - like him - you do not always see what he is doing.

Clio shook her head slightly. Sometimes your intelligence amazes me. You understand us far better than you claim to, Peach...

It had taken nearly two hours to fill the pool with the correct gel and he was happy with what he had done. “There, perfect.” he pulled a huge cover over the pool to hide it, it was designed to look like grass. You may come if you wish with Miss Clio. he sent to the ship over the link that had not been closed.

She had just rinsed the last of the salt from Peach's belly when the young bioship suddenly bobbed upward, seeming to perk up like Murphy did any time she picked up his toys. What?

Mister Jernal says we can join him.

Ah, okay. You can head over... I'll follow you once the water is turned off.

No, I will wait. Peach waited patiently while Clio turned off the water and coiled the hose. Climb up. You can sit on my engine wing. I will not drop you, I promise.

Uh... I don't know about that.

It will be faster, and then we will arrive together.

All right then. Still wary of riding on the outside of the young ship, Clio did as Peach asked, somehow finding a handhold between the bioship's armor plates. As soon as she was settled, Peach flew over to where Zerna waited, slowly and close to the ground. She came to a gentle stop just in front of him, letting Clio climb down.

There was a hole here. Where did it go?
