What could anyone say about Joe’s? It was the happening spot on Terra Alpha. There wasn’t really much to set it apart from the sea of other bars that seemed to crop up daily on the planet and the station. What did Joe’s have that other’s didn’t? The old bartender/owner, Joe, for one. He was gray from his beard to the hair on the top of his head, at least he still had his hair, and he had a gimped leg. But that wasn’t what made him so extraordinary Joe was a musician. He played a mean base and sang as well, mainly blues and some Jazz. He also had a rather attractive brunette with lavender eyes help him out every once in a while and he had the corner market on Homebrew. Joe’s was the only place in the system where you could get the drink, unless you were brave enough to travel to the Xenexian settlement to get it yourself. Joe’s was also the only place that had an authentic antique grand piano that was actually in play able condition, finely tuned, and sometimes rocked out on by the surprisingly talented Jason Calhoun. Joe’s also had a rather talented and equally attractive violinist, Mackenzie Calhoun who played on occasion with her brother. Usually when the bar was pretty much empty and they played for Joe but mainly for themselves.

Ah the Calhoun twins, time displaced and as talented musicians as they were fighters. Since the pair had arrived and began to frequent his establishment, Joe had come to love them like they were his own children much in the same way he had taken in their mother. Nevertheless, damned if they couldn’t drink and if they drank anything other than Homebrew the pair could easily drink him out of business. Especially Jason, he couldn’t put his finger on it but Joe knew something was bothering the boy. Since the start of this whole Kirk business, he came in early, left late, and never spent a moment without his drink. The only exception was when he played beautiful but depressing music on the piano. It got worse when he met the lovely Kassie Kaine. She was a looker and Joe might have been old but he wasn’t blind. Something about her had struck Jason and the night she had left after him Joe couldn’t have been happier. He had thought for sure the two had hooked up the sexual tension had been there anyone with half a brain and a pair of good eyes could have seen that. Sure enough a day later Jason was back at the bar Homebrew in hand and playing his depressing melodies. In addition, as much as Joe wanted to complain Jason’s music, depressing or not, was bringing in a crowd.

“Boy if you don’t play something up beat every once in a while I’m going to get your mama to smack you upside the head.” Joe threatened one day as he refilled Jason’s glass.

“Just working stuff out Joe.” Jason had replied as he took his drink and headed back to the piano.

However, Joe’s wasn’t just time displaced twins, Homebrew, and hook ups it was also the front for the Terra Alpha Navy’s Fleet Intelligence Office. It was a mouth full but they were good customers and good people. Joe had been reluctant to take the bar when he found out the catch to getting the nice digs free of charge but when he found out who was in charge of it he signed his life away. It meant Kinsey was around more to help out, trouble was kept to a minimum, and he had a constant client pool. Even if they couldn’t drink on the job but when five o’clock rolled around the bar was hopping. Of course they had to use the front door like everyone else, coming up to the street from a secret side door in the ally and then in through the front. With the exception of Kinsey and those she had assigned to pose as employees, though she made sure they did more than pose. And Joe couldn’t complain about free labor.

Still, Joe’s wasn’t the sum of its owner, piano player, sexy lavender eyed helper/homebrew maker, or even the place itself. It was the sum of its customers. Each one of them has a unique story to tell and together they make Joe’s one of the most unique bars on the planet.

Alexandria walked into Joe's, she need something to drink after a long day's shift. She had not once been off Byron since the day she arrived, Alexia looked around then walked up to the bar and sat down. She moved her dark brown hair over her shoulder than ordered a drink, Alexia really needed something strong.

“Ah a doctor don’t get many of them in here and the ones we don’t aren’t quite as lovely,” Joe said with a smile as he pulled out a frosted glass and began to fill it the rich golden colored Homebrew. “Now have you had Homebrew before?”

“We’ll its Xenexian beverage brewed in house by a local Xenexian. For a beer, it packs a punch but they swear it tastes like water. But don’t let them fool you they get just as drunk off of it as anyone else.” Joe informed her as he sat the glass down in front of her. “Now if you don’t like it your next drinks on me.”

Alexia picks it up and tries it, a short time later she smiled. "This is very good, nothing I've ever had in my entire eight hundred and twenty five years of life. I'm glad I came here," Alexia replied as she had some more.

“Eight hundred and twenty-five eh…and you don’t look a day over 100.” Joe complemented as he picked up a towel and began to dry some glasses. “I apologize for the lack of music.” He added and nodded towards the empty piano.

"Why thank you," Alexia replied as she sipped her drink. "That's all right, who ever plays must be really good," Alexia replied as she looked at the piano briefly then turned herself back around.

“He’s not bad but plays nothing but depressing crap but eh they eat it up. Ever since he started playing, I’ve had a bigger crowd then normal in here every night. Though, boys got some problems guess they caught up with him.” Joe said with a shrug and placed the clean glasses into a tub of ice to get them frosty.

"I can understand that, I had the same problems two hundred years ago. Luckily I had my family with me, it took some time but my children helped me through it all," Alexia replied taking another sip of her drink.

“Can I pry or would you think me ungentlemanly?” Joe asked as he leaned against the bar top and regarded Alexia.

“Alright then Ms. Doctor what’s your story?” Joe inquired with an inviting smile. It was so inviting you just couldn’t help but give up your life story to this man.
