After being 'reminded' that she couldn't, in fact, spend all of her time inside the Mount, Clio had relented and left the mountain to have lunch on Byron's promenade instead. She had found a small Japanese restaurant tucked into a corner and watched it for several minutes before deciding it was the "safest" place to sit and eat. Most people had ignored it or taken their food and left. To her surprise, the owner had been thrilled to have found a customer that wanted to stay and eat. He'd even set up a table with a vase of flowers and tried to serve her the whole menu, laughing at her when she declined and instead asked for just the curry soup and sencha tea. He had happily provided both and then dropped a dessert menu on the table, winking as he left.

As she ate her lunch, she skimmed over information on a PADD next to her bowl, trying to find out how much information Terra Alpha really had on the Cerva. Having grown up outside the Cervan empire, she was unfamiliar with this 'Matriarch age' that Aglaia had mentioned. As it turned out, the Federation hadn't ever run across it either. The term didn't appear in any of Terra Alpha's databases, and it seemed that no one knew what it actually meant.

At first, she didn't notice that someone had sat down across from her. It wasn't until she reached for the tea pot to fill her cup and found it missing that she looked up and spotted the young woman grinning across the table at her. "Are you supposed to be here?"

Callidora just grinned at her. "Maybe. Maybe not." She held the teapot out where Clio could reach it. "You looked lonely sitting here by yourself."

"So... you snuck away from your parents and stalked me here so you could steal my tea pot?"

"Not exactly. Dad knows I'm here... and Mom... well." Callidora set the tea pot down. "Mom keeps saying someone should talk to you, but Dad keeps telling her 'no'... of course, he's a hypocrite and comes to see you anyway."

Clio shook her head slightly. "You have no idea just how hypocritical he can be, but we won't talk about that. Why are you really here? And don't lie to me. I'll know."

Callidora hesitated, starting to blush a little. "I heard about what happened to Mister Jernal. And... well..." She looked around and then tugged the sleeve of her jacket back, revealing the familiar white fabric of the cloaking suit underneath. "I've been following you. Mom and Dad know... I mean, I didn't tell them. But they figured it out. Mom threatened to put a tracking collar on me."

"Maybe she needs to. You shouldn't be running around the station or the planet with that thing. And you'd better not be following me into the Mount. I'll put you in one of the cells."

Callidora giggled at her. "No. When you left to go there, I was brushing Buttercup. And then I took her and Pepper for rides... they were fidgety and needed the exercise. I hope you don't mind."

"No, that's all right. I can't ride either of them right now."

"You can't?" Callidora gave her a curious look. "Why not? You were riding them a couple weeks ago."

"Well, there's a couple of reasons." Clio paused to refill her tea cup and took a sip from it. "I messed my shoulder up pretty bad when Peach went after Zerna and Aglaia... she threw me into a wall."

"Ouch." Callidora winced sympathetically. "So... what's the other reason? You said there were two."

"Well..." Clio set her tea cup down, wondering where this conversation was going to end up. "Gazelle doesn't think it's a good idea. She's afraid I might fall."

"That's not a very good reason..." Callidora gave Clio a curious look. "You've fallen off of Pepper before."

"I wasn't pregnant then either."

"Oh my god... no way! Are you really?" If the table hadn't been in the way, Callidora might have tried to give Clio a hug. "Is it a girl?"

"I don't know yet." Clio laughed a little, relieved that Callidora didn't seem to mind. "It's too early to tell."

"Well, if it is, you have to name her after me." Callidora grinned at her. "Promise you will."

"If it's a girl. For all you know it's a boy."

"Well I don't have a brother. So I don't know what you should name him. If it's a boy." Callidora paused. "So... does he know?"

"I think he does. I mean... I told him. But he's still in a coma. Didn't get much of a response from him, but I think he heard me." Setting her empty bowl aside, Clio picked up her tea cup again, holding it with both hands. "And your dad knows. But I haven't told anyone else."

"Why not?"

"That's not an easy question to answer."

Callidora gave her a look that she must have learned from her mother. "Anything worth doing is difficult. So... why don't you tell them? I bet they'd be happy to hear about it."

"Callidora..." Clio sighed at her. "They might be. I don't know. But I'm not ready to tell them. When I am, I will."

"You should at least tell Peach that she's going to be a big sister. Mom says she was really excited when I was born."

"Really?" That was surprising; Peach didn't normally get excited about humanoid affairs.

Callidora nodded, grinning widely. "I don't have a bond with her. Don't really visit her much either. But when I do, she does the crazy electrical thing. Purple bolts of lightning everywhere until Mom tells her to cut it out and behave."

"Huh. That's interesting." Clio took a sip of her tea and then set the cup down. "You know... I'm going to visit her once I'm done here. I need to see how her hull is healing... and check on the Aglaia. You could come along and talk to her. She can't answer, but she likes to be talked to."

"Really? You don't mind?"

Clio chuckled at her. "No. I don't mind... besides, the socialization is good for her, and trying to find a way to communicate with you will keep her busy for a while."

"Awesome. Where is she anyway? On Terra Alpha?"

"Actually... I don't know. She was resting in orbit last time we talked." Clio frowned a little. "I'll see if I can find her." Her link to Peach was accessible through the blocker, and she tapped gently against the ship's mind to get Peach's attention. Wake up, Peach.

I am awake, Peach responded brightly. Are you coming to see me?

Yes, and I'm bringing a friend. Where are you?

I am in orbit, Peach replied warmly. My tank ran dry while I healed, so I returned to orbit. Without help!

Good girl, Peach. Clio grinned a little. We'll see you soon.
