Nearly half an hour had passed since they'd arrived at the Mount, and Clio was still arguing with the desk clerk over whether he could give Zerna a pass or not. Finally, she gave up trying to convince him with her words alone and pulled out her Homeland Intelligence identification badge, the new one with the words Assistant Director in bold letters under her name. She held it up in front of the clerk, relishing the panic-stricken look he gave her afterward. "Print the man a pass or I'll put you on an unpaid suspension for a week. Two weeks if you keep arguing with me."

"Uh... well... okay," the man replied sheepishly, printing off the pass and handing it to her as he tried to avoid looking directly at her.

"Thank you." She put her badge back in her pocket and then turned to pin the printed pass to Zerna's shirt. "Don't take this off. If you do, security will stick you in a cell, and I doubt I could get you back out without having to explain it to Arisu."

Zerna chuckled at her. "I never though you be one to use the Assistant Director card... This opens up a whole new line to pranks." he grinned.

"He didn't exactly give me a choice... though I'm kind of wondering how exactly he didn't already know who I was." She cast an unamused look in the clerk's direction, and the clerk immediately pretended to be busy. "I haven't had to pull rank on someone since before I left Starfleet."

She smirked at him. "Maybe a little. Come on... she's waiting. I called to tell her we were coming so she didn't panic when the door opened and you came in. Whatever trauma she's been through has left her with a pretty permanent paranoia."

"Considering what she has been through. Could we heat some water, I brought her some tea. I did promise her tea after all."

"Uh... there's a replicator in her 'room' that can dispense hot water. Standard in government buildings for the last year or so."

"Good. You don't mind if I give her this do you." he pulled the AI-core she had dropped in his place and he had fixed it.

"Well..." Clio paused, giving the core a slightly wary look. "Normally I'd tell you not to give it to her. But as far as we know, that AI is the only family she has left. Since there's no way to beam out of here, and no equipment that can initiate the chroniton tunnel... go ahead and give it back to her. Might stabilize her a little."

"I would, if I were in her place. It's this way." Clio gently pulled him into the hallway, escaping the glares from the desk clerk. "We dressed up one of the cells like a bedroom... and actually it was her idea. She didn't feel safe staying at Cordale, but for some reason she calmed down quite a bit when I put her in here."

"Concidering she has been running for a while. Having a place in the securest place on the planet, it would make me calmer too." he took her hand and interlaced their fingers.

"I guess that makes sense. I never liked being in here though, especially not after Bruno and Bell."

"She knows you're alive, but I left out the details. She's been through enough insanity as it is... didn't want to make it any worse." Soon they reached a cell that was tucked out of the way in a seldom-used side corridor, and Clio glanced through the door's window before unlocking the door with her pass code and opening it. "I marked this corridor as off-limits... only other person who can come this way is Arisu, but she won't." She paused until the room's lone occupant waved her inside. "Leave the door open slightly," she told Zerna quietly as they went inside. "If anything goes wrong, we'll need a fast way out."
