Early mid-life crisis.

So a friend of mine recently joined a group on Facebook to lift the ban on fox hunting and I was like WTFFFFFFFF.

I don't agree with it at all.. but I was wondering what you guys think.. especially Cal, being a farmer and having first hand experience on foxes killing animals and whatnot.

They need to be controlled anyway and i'd imagine death by dog would be prefrable to a slow death in a trap or by poison.

They're not much of a problem for us though, they only really affect poultry farms. they'll pick at already dead animals but that doesn't really matter.

Badgers on teh other hand, need to be culled. They spread most of the TB found in british livestock. We don't get it too badly up here but it's supposed to be pretty bad in North Wales right now.

Surely there's a more humanely way to kill them than being chased and ripped to shreds by dogs.

Especially calling it sport.. wtf. It's pretty raw IMO.

I understand they cause problems but that's nature man. you don't go around killing polar bears because they eat seals.

I suppose you could shoot them. Or round them up then sedate them.

Both would be pretty costly i'd imagine.

It doesn't really affect me either way. I don't know anywhere around here where there was a fox hunt. It was only really around in posh areas down south.

and the polar bear/seal thing. if someone owned the seals they probably would. it's different with foxes becuase they kill animals that someone actually owns while the seals are wild animals.

There's bound to be a way to poison or sedate that that's cost effective.

Why not have dogs outside or patrolling the chicken hatches and shit? Makes more sense.

yeah, probably true

but then again, these people enjoy hunting them so controlling fox numbers was only part of why they hunted them

i think that's what they try to do but more often than not, the hounds would've got to the foxes first and would just tear them apart
