At the start of the season, both the San Diego Padres and the Atlanta Braves were picked to finish in the bottom half of the standings by the National Media. Right now, they both maintain 2 game leads in their respective divisions.
What's everyone's opinion on the capability of these teams to continue this trend? I like the acquisitions San Diego made, but San Francisco has very quality pitching that SD has had a hard time with all year. Otoh, Atlanta made few moves at the deadline, but Philly is the defending NL champion and I still think have the best top-to-bottom team in the National League.
So, in essence... Discuss.
