Missy Mischief

Where is that goddamned faerie? Kendra had been trying to distract this mark for the past five minutes, and the conversation was really very boring. Missy was still nowhere in sight.

Kendra never did any stealing herself. Really, she'd rather not at all, but a girl needs to eat. Besides, Missy thought it was great fun. All Kendra had to do was distract the rich - and apparently very, very, boring - man.

Her eyes were roving around the bustling street, looking for any sign of the little Fae. Before too long, she spotted her... hovering outside a relatively well-known potions shop. Kendra hurriedly excused herself and ran towards Missy, but too slow. She saw Missy chuckle, then zip inside the store.

"No! Missy, no!"

By the time Kendra had run across the street, Missy was already in the shop, flitting around and smashing potion bottle off the shelves and onto the floor. Her high-pitched, quiet giggle was easily heard by Kendra, used to listening to the little Fae.

Janet jumped up when she saw the little twit fly in and start smashing her stuff. "Hey! ALL THIS STUFF IS VERY VALUABLE!" Janet screeched as the bottles started falling and shattering. Janet jumped over of the case in the middle of the room to avoid getting hit by some of the spilled liquid. Looking around, she noticed that some of the bottles spilled were highly reactive with each other and that if this mess wasn't stopped fast, the whole building could explode! Janet frantically tried to find an inner center of calm to try to actually cast and flood the room with pure water to dilute the chemicals enough to stop the explosion. Worst. Day. Ever. And it's still mid-morning.

Kendra was in the doorway by now, trying to avoid the slow spill of potions. "I'm sorry miss but please stop screeching it's... too late."

Janet's jumping and screeching drew Missy's attention, and with an evil chuckle she swooped down upon the flustered potion-maker and yanked the clips out of her hair, flying quickly up out of reach near the ceiling and taunting her. She waved the clips around, blowing raspberries at Janet.

"C'mon, Missy, give the lady her clips back and get down here," Kendra pleaded. God I hope she doesn't take this too badly...

After finally making the water appear, although not near as much as she'd hoped, Janet makes a foolish attempt to grab at the hair clips, but ends up missing horribly and sighs. She grimaces and opens a spot on the floor, where various tools are revealed to be. She pulls out a net with a long handle, and reaches up, aiming to knock the Fae down and in. I hate Fae, she thought to herself, taking a few swipes.

Missy managed to dodge the first few swipes, but dodged the wrong way on the last one and ended up dragged down to the floor in the net. She tried to fly up out of it, fluttering uselessly against the net material and chittering angrily at her captor.

"Shut up Missy, it's your own fault anyway. Um... thanks for stopping her, miss, can I please have her back now?"

"Hmmm. Let's see... she destroyed that, that, that, that, and... that. Not to mention *that*... all told, that's about... 43 gold worth of potions destroyed," Janet informed the other woman. "So, yeah, I'll give her back to you if you'll buy these broken potions. That's actually a bargain, it doesn't cover the floor damage, so don't push your luck."

Kendra's mouth dropped in horror. "But... I don't have that kind of money! I barely have enough to buy dinner tonight."

"Well, I can't say I do either. Not anymore. Although..." Now that Janet was a bit calmer, the emergency having passed, she was able to think a bit straighter. "You could probably work it off. It'd take a good few months -- but that's about how long it took to make what was just broken. Fair enough?"

"No! It wasn't even me that did it. It's not my fault Missy decided to follow me around all those years ago, and it doesn't mean I control her."

A slight creak drew her attention, and suddenly in Missy's place under the net was a fully human-sized version, minus wings. "Oh, Missy..."

Missy plucked the net off and blew a raspberry at Janet. "You're no fun, meanie-woman."

Janet sighed, just realizing she'd lost 43 gold worth of product and there wasn't really anything she could do about it. "What's not fun is breaking my product. That's that much less on the table for *me* -- and it doesn't even go anywhere *else* -- it's wasted! Useless! I am appalled and offended! I no longer care, just... get out... and if you ever need something liquid, don't come running to me! I don't need business from the likes of you!"
